Your comment convinces me that Messi rightly decided to not return to Barcelona. He did not want to impact current players in Barcelona like unwanted cutting salary in order to save some budget for Messi salary. He did not want to be responsible for Barcelona results like his last seasons with them. They won, Messi was considered as their hero but when they lost, all responsibility belongs to Messi. Gundogan is only one player and he can not change all things for them like Lewandowski could not improve Barcelona strength and competitiveness in Champions League and Europa League. I agree, it's never been wise decision to give him captaincy while you have too many other good players those are already done good for this club and have good future as well with few those are taking cut in their salaries as well even they have good chance for going to any other big club with huge salaries.

This is a sign that Real Madrid will not end up in second position in la Liga league competition next season because their management are seriously working to bring in new players and also extend contract of some players so that they will have every reason to dominate well in next season.  I think Nacho Fernandez still have something good to offer Real Madrid next season and he  will use this last opportunity well, so that after the one season other teams will be looking for him to join their team. A very good decision by Carlos Ancelotti because there were serious rumors he is going to leave club for the job of Brazil national team coach, but all ended, and they can do better than this season with now they are first looking for the suitable replacement of Karim Benzema and also needs to fix hole which give them poor results in last season hopefully now in coming season things could be again on level with few other teams like Barcelona and Atlético Madrid which are going to give tough challenge for having their best days back in business.

Despite this, these players have been with Real Madrid for a long time and still show interest in joining the team because they consistently put on a strong performance.

I agree with what you said, that Real Madrid's decline this season must be the responsibility of all parties, be it coaches, players and those who are closest to the club. Maybe it's a bit strange when you talk like that, but that's my view because all parties in the club are related to each other.

I don't think that's the right assessment because he is the team captain at Manchester City and his influence on his departure will of course be felt by the Manchester City team because at an old age of 32 years to be precise, Gundogan career and performance are even better than last season. He even got a great honor from the players of manchester city and city management to give him a new contract. But Gundogan instead chose to leave and refuse Manchester City offer, which of course the management of Manchester City really regretted.
