this is only possible if you used coupon for an expensive early order.

That's why I try to get at least one miner from every batch.

Thanks, but not very clear. So, I cannot use two of my own coupons on one order, but if I have a coupon and bought another coupon from someone, then I can use two?
This is not very logical.

Yes that sounds weird and I think it's mostly miscommunication. You should be able to use two of your own coupons on one order.

SP31 failed? Grin Tongue Cheesy

Nope. Just ordered one for ~2k$!

No, unless you have a special "roadstress" price.
Is it possible to use more than one coupon on a single SP-31?

Yes, Barbara said "The gift cards are transferable. The system accepts one gift card and one discount per order, so if you have multiple gift cards we would need to consolidate them for you. We would need to receive permission from the owner of the gift card to do the consolidation."

Thanks, but not very clear. So, I cannot use two of my own coupons on one order, but if I have a coupon and bought another coupon from someone, then I can use two?
This is not very logical.

I am sure they will consolidate them for you, just ask

OK ... I bought SP30s, got the refund emails ... asked them to consolidate, which they did (Thanks Sponds!), bought a SP31 at a great price.

Has any miner manufacturer done that before?

I'm happy, so I'm guessing they are too.

Smiley I guess Emerson ran out of power supplies Smiley LOL
I'd rather buy a SP10 equivalent with the new chips .. but somehow SPT is going after the bitmain market tapping into the unused PSUs .. which is good, looking for a price-war soon.

yes, they preempted bitmain's announcement (scheduled for next week). we shall see who is the prettiest of them all...at a price.
i might prefer a couple of SP-20 to Sp-31 (which i cannot host at home), providing that prices are comparable (per th, minus powersupplies), but we shall see.

While the SP20 has what appears to be attractive specs depending on the price, it's really too little to late.

Currently 1.6THs will only earn $14 per day before electric costs and that will be substantially lower by delivery in October. It's not much better than having a handful of USB Block Erupters a year ago.  Sad

SP31 is about $.7/GH, so if the SP20 comes in around $999 I'd call it a decent deal (meaning likely to break even). At $10/day that's 100 days to ROI. Not horrible by any means, especially during the winter when the heat can be beneficial for a home.

Yeah, isn't it crazy. This year is very strange: ~70 fold difficulty increase since last November, but more than 50% BTC price decrease.
I would have never guessed that this would be the case. I don't think that this dichotomy can continue much longer, but who knows.

I'd love to see some pictures of all your gear running. How many cages did you use for all 37 of them? How many can you shove in one rack? How's the temperature been stable since you have been adding lots of sultry hardware? Don't forget the ear protection...

Pictures below. The 37 are in two racks. We can fit up to 20 SP30s in a 42U rack if we also include a 1U switch. I haven't tried putting 21 SP30s in a rack without a switch, but I presume it would be feasible. Temps have been stable. Our DC is currently about 20°C at the SP30 intake. The average temperature of the air our DC exhausts outside has increased, but that's expected. The exhaust from a single SP30 is the same temp as before. A typical SP30:

Temp Front / Back T,B    23 °C / 67,69 °C
Socket Voltage               250/254 volt
Fan Speed                      80
Start Voltage                  0.67 / 0.67
Max Voltage                   0.75
Max Watts                     1340 / 1350

ok you are scaring me with this now, is the noise of one or two SP30's loud enough to cause hearing loss ?

One or two? No. About sixty? Maybe. The SP10s (not pictured, in the racks in the back) are louder.

yes, you got a right price point, especially since you are paying for a 1.2-1.3kw power supply (~$200-250)

Probably a world record for hashing density.
Extremely low cost and effective deployment method. Behind the SP30s are huge fans.

Quote

Credit: Cowboyminer mining cooperative.

Looks nice but I'm interested to know exactly how effective.

Do you have a total hashrate for those machines?
I'm waiting for the report as well. It was quite effective for the SP10s and dragons they have.
I'm not giving full description of the method because: (1) I don't know every detail (2) It's Cowboyminer trade secrets

I've posted it to prove a point regarding power and cooling density. Edit: Although jtoomim already proved it as well  Smiley

By end of october (likely will ship last few days as before) appropriate price would be .50/ghs or less

you will have an earful from PCI-e "purists" who will say that PCI-e is supposed to handle just 75-150W. i am not one of them, but if I order Sp-20, I will be getting some of cablez creations (16 awg two pci-e to one port-V-shape connector)-especially if using evga 1300 (which has 8 connectors).
Side comment-you guys are such a tease-why not an official release with specs/prices?

The customers will need to consult with the PSU manufacturer.
For example, for SeaSonic X-1050 XM each PCIe connector can handle up to 324 W

Exciting news!

The SP20 with 0.65 W/GH has a better power to hash ratio than the S3+ (0.78 W/GH or OC 0.80 W/GH), but it's worse than the SP31 with 0.5455 W/GH, and W/GH is what matters most for me with our shitty energy price here.

We also don't know the pride yet and what Bitmaintech has in their drawer for the S4.

I'm all for Spondoolies-Tech and would already have started ordering if only predictions would show it's possible for me to reach a positive ROI.

Did I understand this right, that customers get coupons for purchased units valid for the next generation of products, or was this only on special occasion due to the SP30 not performing as initially announced?

Its my article and I pester them a bunch for info on stuff.  They were good enough to allow me to break the story first and I appreciate it so much.
I really do like the the SP20 as it does fill the gap in the miner realm right now.  Adding in they are talking a few week ship time as opposed to months and months this is a great choice.  Smiley

Quoted in part:
Spondoolies-Tech is releasing a new miner named the SP20-Jackson that will start shipping in October.

Specifications as of press time:
Hash Rate: 1.7 th/s +/- 5%, Over Clockable to 1.8 th/s, 8 ASIC Chips
Power Consumption: 1100 watts at the wall with a Gold rated, 90% efficiency PSU suggested
Power connections: 4x PCIe
Smaller Form Factor 1/3 size of the SP30, 60dB or less estimated

Now this is interesting, and the FIRST time Spondoolies (to my knowledge) have not kept us up to speed on the forum, we hear news from another source. Thanks nhminer.

Get the price right, and you'll have a best seller - eating into Bitmains market (unless they have a killer S4 around the corner). If you don't have one to hand, the PSU will cost you a few, but many S1/S3 owners have 1200W/1500W units powering multiple Antminers right now. (Not sure a Corsair AX1200i would be up for the job on this?).

Reading the article, I'm guessing/hoping no lengthy pre-orders here, or if so, delivery within a short window of time.

I host my SP10s and SP30s at DCs, but also boost the hash rate by hosting a certain amount of KW personally. If the price and spec is right, I'll be upgrading my smaller miners ... just as winter begins ... toasty  Cool
