2. Sharecoin's main site - sharecoin.info - is gone as well. How do you account for that?
Maybe it's on the same hosting account with ShareXcoin... sharexcoin.zendesk.com is still live. Not likely because the DNS records for sharecoin.info have been modified and is pointed to a ad-serving page. Unless the hacker had managed to gain access to his name.com account, there is no way to do that.. And here is the proof it was not done by a hacker -- sharexcoin.com trading site stills point to the DigitalOcean server, which means the administrator (ziplibrary) still has full control of his domain names account at name.com. That's why I said it was likely an inside job. Well, between busoni (Poloniex), DigitalOcean, name.com, it shouldn't take anyone more than couple hours to dig up zip's info and uncover his real identity. Here's my conjecture - Zip probably was hoping to dump qora and other altcoins at high price at Polo, and buy them back later at a much lower price, and he'll pocket the difference.. But his plan backfired, and he was not able to cover his short-sell trades. I'm basing my theory on ShareXCoin's main account activities. This is the most logical explanation for what we see in my opinion. Agreed with your conjecture. Ziplibrary decide to stole and dump all sharexcoin's users Qoracoins and kill the price of Qora to 5 or 3 satoshi, and then buyback coins and say: "Hey guys, here is your Qoracoins which you bought @75 and now I've killed the price to 3 satoshi, but I'm not a scammer, take your coins back " Shame on ziplibrary The weird thing was it was quite a nice exchange, if he waited 6 months he could of potentially walked off with a lot more. Polinex is frozen I noticed.

Sometimes I think we should just listen to Qora and probably not trade until the wallet is safe or we get on a decent exchange.
The client is safe. ShareXCoins didn't use the official client, they've written their own wrapper (whatever it means). So either someone hacked ShareXCoin because they made lame wrapper for Qora or the owner just stole all coins and ran away. It has nothing to do with Qora official client. Now we shouldn't list any other little exchange. I am always don't agree to list on a exchange at early stage. We should focus on development not the price .

Remember if he's running with bitcoin, there is no reason to make Qora withdrawal from Polo back to ShareXCoin.
yes there is - why dump the price to few satoshi when you can wait hold the qora and sell for much higher in a few weeks. The weird thing was it was quite a nice exchange, if he waited 6 months he could of potentially walked off with a lot more.
I agree.

Here's what I would like to know. Usually when you are forking (forking happens, shit happens), you get notified and you can do something as a coin owner. Usually it's treated as an emergency. But where was the Qora team news in this case?

In this thread. Fine but you understand that some people can't follow the thread everyday constantly because "thousand threads and other stuff"? What about twitter?

I am thinking that it was probably a spur of the moment thing. ShareXCoin probably was not intended to be a scam from very beginning. But after seeing the sheer amount of Qora and other altcoins he had in his hands, Zip realized his power, got greedy and succumb to temptation. He realized he could manipulate the price easily since he was the largest holder. Based on the blockexplorer info, he had over 450 million or 5% of qora at one point (It would be very tempting for anyone to do a short trade in his position, I suppose). He got too smart for his own good. Now in retrospect, I guess there was a reason why zip wanted to be the first exchange to trade qora. Also, remember that, by being the exchange operator, he had the power to observe every player's trading pattern (how much every Qora player has in his account and is willing to trade, and how low price he could push on Poloniex). The problem was the users. We gave him too much power without vetting the person first.

That's the last straw...
I still have reasons to believe this is not a scam... we shall see... Sorry I was just playing detective. I really hope you're right for both of our sake. I want my 3 mil qora back.

I can see that the latest version of the client was posted on twitter as well... I don't believe you can communicate the details of such complicated issues through social media. Usually this is done with big red letters type of notify. Not just with "oh we have a new client". I mean, I wish I could have reacted properly. At least I could have not bought on Sharexcoin at that time or something.

I've decided to move some of my investments by selling some DRK. (Even though I think DRK will keep rising, I'd like to spread the risk a bit). I'm looking into 100% POS coins as I like the concept. Not that fond if POW/POS hybrids (even though I must admit that I own some BC). I was almost convinced to buy NXT when I found this thread. I think I'll wait to see how the last events will effect on the coin.
How many coins are mined BTW? I'd like to estimate a market cap.
Do you think Qoura will bounce back after this?
Also I agree with BitcoinForumator, a better dev communication channel is needed.

Things have definitely become quite complicated with everything going on right now... but I have been through development efforts that faced similar issues (excluding the latest ShareXcoin drama) and all I would like to say right now is that people should be prepared for long resolution time-frames. What if we are looking at a potential 3-6 month development time-frame? Some of us are prepared for that. Yeah, issues, I'm aware of that. But I think that the Qora team didn't react properly either.

Yes, dev updates wallet every few days and new users come everyday. If you decide to buy, buy now and bet heavily.

Thing is if you read back through Qoras posts he says he expected bugs in the client and so we should focus on walking before we run was his actual words. even Bitcoin had bugs and still does. He advised against trading, we did it. he said he wouldn't market the coin till he implemented all the functions, we did it. So the problem is not the developers communication it is the community not really listening, me included.

Possibly needed, but if people understood what Qora is, ie a new code then most should know this is early development stage just like NXT was, just like Bitcoin was. The problem is people are treating this like just another coin or clone. In my mind QORA has been more stable than early Bitcoin and NXT. It doesn't deserve any bad press in my mind. What's Sharexcoin got to do with the developer anyway? by the way the front page was pretty much community made and the info was what was asked to be there. If you blame anyone, you got to blame all of us.

I still have reasons to believe this is not a scam... we shall see... Reasons, or a hunch? Odd that someone would go to the trouble of integrating a Nxt wallet just a couple of days before doing a planned runner. Well, I hope you're right. I had/have 1-2 million Qora plus around 0.5 BTC in other coins on the site. Possibly needed, but if people understood what Qora is, ie a new code then most should know this is early development stage just like NXT was, just like Bitcoin was. The problem is people are treating this like just another coin or clone.
Fully agree with this. After some shaky early releases with sync problems, v8 seems a considerable improvement to me, but there is a way to go before it can be considered stable. The speed with which Qora dev is releasing fixes/updates is encouraging, and despite some hurdles with forks / exchanges / in-fighting on this thread, I'm very optimistic about Qora's future.
