I was planning on benching Ekeler on week 4 but the LAC are facing Houston, if they cannot run the ball on Houston of all teams then I will be forced to bench Ekeler for some time, fortunately for me I went RB heavy during the draft or right now I will be in deep trouble with my first round pick not being as productive as I thought he would be.

Dolphins remain unbeaten, yet another impressive win! I'm not sure why officials allowed Tua to continue after that play at the end of the first half, aren't there concussion protocols in place? He clearly looked knocked out, if you haven't seen the video:

I watched that game and honestly I could not believe my eyes, the Bills should have won that game easily and yet they committed so many mistakes the Dolphins somehow found a way to win, now about Tua, I really hope there is an investigation because it is obvious this was not a back problem and the Dolphins are trying to cover it up.

We really needed it, going 0-3 would have been a disaster for any of us, and bbc.reporter is really crushing the league at the moment with Lamar playing so well, however I will admit that it worries me as he is obviously trying to show his value and get a better contract, but if he is not careful this could result in an injury.

Not looking good for any of us who have Chargers players in their squads, especially the left tackle going down. Herbert is literally a hit or two from not playing at all. I wish he didn't play on Sunday. I mean just look at all the injuries they have:

Was just traveling home from work out of town and had a good deal of time to listen to some sports radio and one of the big things they came up was just how banged up the Chargers are. The big one for the entire offense is one of thier starting O-Lineman being out right now. I can’t remember exactly which position he plays but I know he’s one of their top 5 best players, and obviously that hurts the whole offense.  I’ve got Herbert in another league so obviously a bit worried. I think offense will bounce back, I wouldn’t give up hope in Ekeler yet, but yeah nice matchup this week with the Texans !

Hell of a game tonight!! 3-0 Miami Dolphins vs Cincy Bengals, I’m pumped (esp after that boring Monday night football game).  Personally I think Cincy wins, but I just have no how they are going to do so, so I went with the money line bet. I don’t know if that’s a smart bet or not, but I could just easily see this being a really close game.

My favorite part of the game tonight is the uniforms. Miami has their normal sweet looking road unis and the Bengals are wearing their all white unis.  Love those!

ETA:  That was an ugly hit on Tua, he looked like he was in agony.  Man, I hope the kid is okay, he didn't give a thumbs up while they were carting him out.  That's never a good sign.  He already had a back injury, that body slam could have some lingering and severe consequences.

If Tua takes the field tonight, it's a massive step back for #concussion care in the NFL.

The most common of violent acts that were done by retired NFL players that were reported were domestic violence and it appears that there is also a correlation between head trauma and depression which might also have caused the violent outbursts.

This is a great point, and I appreciate the war-like aspect for Good Ol American Football, but I wouldn't mind them tightening up the concussion protocol... the main problem is the doctors and other professionals hired to make those calls are probably incentivized to say, "Nah, he's fine, leave him in."

Hope everything with Tua is okay going forward, it was really unfortunate play. The Dolphins lineman literally let go of his guy with Tua having so much space/time to throw, it was bad. Does anyone remember last season when Parham knocked his head unconscious and arms locked...scary stuff.

I watched Adam Schefter on Get Up this morning talking about the NFL concussion protocols and he basically said if a player exibits gross motor instability, what we saw with Tua on Sunday, he should not have been allowed to return to the game. It does not matter if he had concussion or not, it could be a spine aka back injury as well.

Prayers out to Tua. For selfish reasons this had so many negative effects for me fantasy football wise. I own Tua in our league (and others). Have Waddle in another league. The lack of the Dolphins pass attack meant less throwing for Burrow (whom I have in our league), which then means less love for Chase (whom I have in another league) etc etc.  It also ruined what was to be an epic game.

That said, safety is the number one priority here and by far.  The Dolphins claim that Tua absolutely did not have a concussion last game. So it’ll be very interesting to see how this plays out.

As someone who played football in to high school I can tell you that if I ever have a son, he will not be allowed to play. I always wonder how many concussions I had but never knew it. That Dr who discovered CTE also stated if you played something like just 3 years of tackle football your risk of suicide goes up by like 40% (or something crazy high like that).  It is in my opinion that tackle football should be banned until college. It’s just too dangerous (especially for developing brains). The issues we know of CTE injuries are just the high profiles ones that have come out/been exposed. God only knows how many lives in total CTE has destroyed (demaryius thomas and Vincent Jackson being two of the most recent high profile heartbreaking incidents).

I’m all for tackle football, it’s my favorite sport by far, but not until those playing fully understand the potential implications of it.  

Hopefully one day we will learn how to detect it before death. Like guys such as Antonio Brown, it’s quite obvious he has a serious case but we can’t say for sure until he dies.

And deservedly so, maybe the Dolphins were just unlucky and Tua did in fact only had a back injury, but things are not looking good for them, they received criticism for playing Tua in a short week and then we saw what it happened, the tackle was clean without any malicious intention or excessive force, but the way Tua hit the ground immediately set a red alarm in my head and when I saw his hands I really felt sorry for the kid because it was obvious he was not OK.

I also noticed as @DireWolf14 mentioned that Tua did not gave a thumbs up, now this may seem like a useless sign, but he either could not do it or he was so out there he did not even knew what was happening, and neither of those two options is a good sign for Tua.

We've all been injured before, and we all know of how an injury can cause us to change our mechanics when doing the simplest things.  Washing dishes can exacerbate a back injury, let alone being body slammed.

Unfortunately the culture of football also ingrains into the young men that injuries are a part of the game, and if you can't play through your injuries you're not tough enough.  This needs to change.  The other thing that needs to change is defenses specifically targeting injuries when tackling another player.  We saw this last Thursday night when Herbert was playing with sore ribs.  We even saw it a few plays before Tupou body-slammed Tua.  Tupou went for Tua's ankle, again targeting a specific area he knew was causing Tua trouble.  That's just bullshit and shouldn't be tolerated.  Defensive players who do that should be ejected from games, and possibly banned from the league.

Unfortunately these types of discussions have happened regularly for decades that I can remember.  I remember similar discussions when Joe Montana was suffering from back injuries when he still played for the Niners in the late 80's.  Whenever something tragic happens the topic is high on everyone's radar, but a few months later it's forgotten about.  I know the league has been making changes over time to combat injuries, specifically head injuries, but these changes seem to come slowly, if at all.

The Dolphins failed Tua Tagovailoa. Will any change come of it?

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game on a stretcher after his head was violently slammed into the ground on a sack by Bengals defensive tackle Josh Tupou in the second quarter. Tagovailoa was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The whole scene was a nightmare.

The Dolphins immediately classified it as a head and neck injury. But the appropriate word is concussion, or more specifically, a traumatic brain injury. In case the force of the hit and the still body wasn’t indication enough, replays showed Tagovailoa fingers sprayed, almost as if he were trying to contort them.

What a sad reality how little the NFL does little to protect its players, the backbone of its brand. The NBA has started resting its stars and starters for periodic games in recent years. MLB, for all its issues, has trended toward limiting innings for its starting pitchers. While this may be due to analytics pointing to less effectiveness the third time through a batting order, less innings pitched is a net positive for arm health. The NFL, on the other hand, decided to add a 17th game because apparently the league needs more revenue streams.

I am quite certain that the NFL commissioner will be forced to do something. He will declare that there will be an investigation, however, after this investigation there might only be a fine. A fine that the Miami Dolphins can pay easily, I reckon.

**Wanting to trade for RB**

I am absolutely stacked at WR. I could use an upgrade to my second RB.  Though I really like all my RBs and they have a ton of upside potential, I’m looking to move one of my WRs and RBs to someone who’s got an extra RB they’d be willing to trade that would be a slight upgrade to any of my RBs (outside Harris of course).  Someone like Aaron Jones for example is the type of back Im looking for.
