Well I will start out and say I really don't think this will happen but a man can dream.  Sean Payton with 3 years left on his contract with the saints just announced he is stepping down from coaching the saints.  Giants just so happen to have a coaching job open.  Payton was qb coach and the OC years ago....please GIANTS make it happen.  Give the saints what they want to release him and offer Payton the keys.  I mean, if it takes money I got 5 on it.

I have to say part of me is bashing this idea because I am hoping that he will want to come to the Bears eventually lol.  I wasn’t really surprised to see him step away if we are being honest. Merited for the unbridled optimism but your wishful thinking will not transform the Giants into not sucking. Set your expectations at 0 wins at the beginning of the season and you'll be pleasantly surprised if they get a couple.

LOL, try to not be as harsh, after all dreaming is free, however between the two teams the Bears are clearly ahead, it seems to me Daniel Jones has not lived up to the hype and the Giants will soon find themselves looking for another QB, while the Bears at least have a young QB prospect which could improve significantly with the right coach and have good pieces at defense, plus if Aaron Rodgers leaves the Packers the division is pretty much open for whoever can make a run for it, however for what I have heard Sean Payton has good offers from TV networks and maybe he just wants an easy job with a good paycheck.

I was surprised that the Niners won, also, but it would probably be more accurate to say that the Packers lost.  I don't know that they're over-rated, they've been the underdog in both playoff matches and won them both.  Maybe they're under-rated?  I am glad that the Rams knocked out the Bucs, because I really don't think the Niners had a chance against Tampa.  But they've beaten the Rams 6 times in a row, and that makes me think they do have a chance at making it to the super bowl.

That would actually be pretty cool, but yeah; a snowball's chances in hell might offer better odds.

Teams looking for a head coach: Broncos, Raiders, Giants, and Bears, (and Saints) come to mind, but I might be forgetting some.  If the Saints do release Payton from his contract I doubt they'll do so for another NFC team.

Yeah in hindsight maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised at all that the packers lost. Let’s face it, you can argue Rodgers is top 3 all time but the guy is constantly underperforming in the playoffs. He really needs to have more than just one championship by the time it’s all said and done.

As for the Niners, I still dont think they are very good. They knocked off two good teams in the Cowboys and Packers but these teams also are a bit of choke artists. I still don’t see them beating the Rams but we shall see!

We got some GM spots filled already and today the first two head coaching hires of the offseason:

Broncos: Nathaniel Hackett - former Packers OC
Bears: Matt Eberflus - former Colts DC

I'd be surprised if Rodgers followed Hackett to Denver (he's under contract with the Packers for one more year), despite the fact that there was a lot of chatter about him heading there before the start of last season. With the Chiefs, Chargers, and Raiders, the AFC West is as tough as it gets in the NFL. I don't think Rodgers will bother facing those teams twice a year, NFC has a much comfier/easier path to the playoffs. Though the Broncos do really need a quarterback, they have some young pieces on the defensive end, J. Williams had a great rookie season, and they have over $40 million in cap space, so yeah...

For the Bears and their fans, the most important question right now is who Matt Eberflus will bring as offensive coordinator.

Lol.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers stay put.  It will probably depend on with whether the Packers are able to retain Adams and Cobb, and Aaron Jones...  Which seems unlikely but I imagine they'll do all they can to keep the core group intact.  If his goal is to be on a team that has a decent chance at a championship, the Packers are certainly that.  Of course their salary cap woes could change that in a heartbeat.

If Rodgers does leave the Packers, I would bet on him landing in Pittsburg.  He and Tomlin already have a good relationship, the Steelers are in need of a QB, and it's a division they could easily win with Rodgers under center (and a few upgrades on defense.)

As a Bears fan I'm not quite sure how to feel yet about either the General Manager hire or the Head Coach hire.  The general manager we hired is only 36 years old, so maybe we got ourselves a boy wonder genius like Theo Epstein (hired by the redsox as GM when he was 28).  As for the coach I really don't know much about him so I can't hate but only sit back and hope for the best for them both.  Time shall tell.  Kind of surprised the Bears didn't hire Dan Quinn.

I read quite a few negative comments about Eberflus on the Colts subreddit, and it sounded as if they were relieved to get rid of him. Colts had some bad losses on the season too, giving up double-digit leads and then the meltdown in Jacksonville....you can't blame the defensive coordinator for everything but still. With Fields, i thought the Bears would hire OC as their new HC (there were some interesting names available), you gave what, two first-rounders for him...idk.

All the local media is talking about is how Kyle Shanahan is in Sean McVay's head, and the Niners have taken the last six matches...  I hope they aren't jinxing it.  But if you want to put things into perspective, the Niners have been dealing with health issues all season.  The offense may have looked bad at times during the last two games, and it's worth noting that Garoppolo broke his thumb just a few weeks ago, and hopefully that's less of an issue than it was last week.  They did have an extra day to prepare, so there's no excuses.  The offense needs to bring it's best game.

But the real point in favor of the 9ers is our defense has never had issues stopping the Rams running game.  That's where the Niners will win the ability to control the game.  If they can stop the run, and keep Stafford honest, the offense won't need to score much, and just run conservative plays while running time off the clock.  Simple, old-fashioned smash-mouth football.

Free agents who are available are Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Covid Cam.

It appears Brady’s replacement will be disappointing if it is not Aaron Rodgers hehehehe.

I think the same could be said of the Rams shutting down debo. Debo can wreck a game in an instant in so many different ways.  Cupp as a pure wr is better, but overall debo is the more wildcard and dangerous player on the field.  If Rams can't stop the run it will be a long day for the Rams.

Yeah, but that's not all.  Now that OBJ is also out there, our secondary is gonna have their hands full.  But that's just it, if we keep the Rams' offense one-dimensional we'll be able to invest additional resources to keep their awesome wide receivers in check, and give ourselves a chance.

Well, if Garoppolo wins the Super Bowl I don't think he'll go anywhere.  If he doesn't, I don't think he'll be staying in SF.

But it might all be moot; now I'm hearing that Brady (and his dad) have come out and said that the news of his retirement isn't true.  Maybe Gisele Bundchen leaked a fake story to ESPN?  Who knows what's really going on, but I guess we'll know soon enough.

It will be a bridge player.  No one wants to come in behind Tom Brady.  So either Tampa Bay opts with a rookie with no expectations or a Ryan Fitzpatrick, teddy Bridgewater type for 2 years while they tank for a rookie qb.  There is not a chance Rodgers would want to follow Brady and possibly fail that will be his legacy.  Aaron Rodgers best landing spot would be Tennessee.  They are built for superbowl now they just need a qb to take them over the top.  If he fails no worries there isn't that much expectations.  My 2 cents,   Enjoy the game today peeps

Unless Brady comes out in a press conference stating that he is retiring then I am not believing that guy is retiring, to be honest I think is more likely that Brady somehow gets to an agreement with the Bucs and he is released as a free agent and then he tries to find yet another team to win the SB than this whole idea of retirement, after all the Bucs are set to lose a great deal of veteran free agents so their chances for another SB run will be lower, and now that he has shown his ability to win a SB without Belichick he may find more interested teams than two years ago.
