Yep, I'm still here always ready to lose some money.

Being still mostly a noob at this, I don't mind any changes, 12 teams, Yahoo, all fine with me, as long as we agree at least 4 weeks in advance and I have time to practice build false hopes.

I'm trying to get all my fantasy leagues at Yahoo next season, kinda tired of jumping around different apps and websites.

Don't hate ESPN, they have an alright UI, positional rankings are handy, but Yahoo is just better overall.

Is it more difficult drafting players in Yahoo? I have already become very familiar with ESPN's app. I also was reading some comparisons between ESPN and Yahoo and it appears that Yahoo does not alert you if a players is out for the game or questionable?

In any case, when do we collect the entries and how much? Also, should we also have last 2 people with lowest points pay more money at the end of the season hehehe.

Southpark did a great job and hopefully he will step up again otherwise we can discuss who should be commish.

Also I agree that yahoo is the best hosting site and all we will need to do is port over the agreed on rules.

What happened to cause you to lose control?  If you don't mind me asking.  I still ride for recreation and road trips, and I know how dangerous it can be.  I'm getting to the age where injuries taking substantially longer to heal, which has finally caused me to slow it down a bit.  And I do mean A BIT!

Wow just seen this, that's terrible I hope first and foremost you have a speedy recovery.

And if you don't mind I would actually like to hear why peoe don't like ppr.  I think it adds a different skill in picking running backs in that a pure rusher like Henry is an easy pick but you could have a good pass catcher match up with him in fantasy.  It adds to the skill of ff in my mind.

When you get a chance can you post why ppr is a no go for you?

I have not checked this thread for some time so I am kind of behind when it comes to the new league and I am just updating myself.

Thanks for your encouragement but unfortunately I am really busy so I will have to step down as League Manager this year, even if it was not that time consuming, however I am 100% in when it comes to participating and I am fine if you guys want to move the new league to yahoo or another website.

Nope, Yahoo has better interface, easier to navigate/draft.

Even the worst apps out there (namely NFL.com) have data on player's availability, who's questionable/injury reserve etc, no need to worry about that.

On our fantasy league last season, did it have have PPR? Let's do what is easier for newbies like me hehehehe.

We went with Standard scoring, in short, PPR leagues devalue running backs for wide receivers and pass-catching running backs. I personally find it easier to prepare for a draft if the league has standard scoring or 0.5 PPR . Let me share a quote i really like about PPR:

WHY PPR is Bad.

A player gets one target from the 10 yard line and takes it to the house.

A Prima Dona back that makes 10 times that above players salary total per year gets 20 targets and catches 16 for NO Touchdown and NO appreiciable effect on the game.

A worse effect is we don't see these widely skewed numbers regularly but only variations of them so its not apparent to the masses that this is PPR.

What happens is People that have no clue go on twatter and bitch and complain that their Prima donna back didn't get enough targets and thats why the team lost when that is not actually the case as they see target share as a metric for the team doing well when in fact it is the opposite.

When hoards of these arm chair coaches make enough noise coaches cow down and increase the non productive players share which only makes the team myoptic which in turn cause a spiral down of the players and the team. This is a self fulfilling prophecy that harms the internal structure of the team as a whole. And is being fed by the popularity of PPR.

PPR is sold as a easier game for beginners but in fact it is a easier game for algorithms. If you don't believe me then just check how many leagues get won by autodrafted teams. I found it amusing that Chicity has a hatred for autodraft when in fact his hatred is for the algo that is correct most of the time, he just didn't connect the dots that this is due to PPR.

Personally I would love to see points per first down added and maybe some others but I get tired enough just trying to stop the PPR infiltration into fun leagues I'm in.

I've been reading up on it and yeah, Fuck PPR.  It's a silly addition really.  One of the things Drew Loftis mentions in that article is how the game doesn't differentiate between yards gained via passing or running, so why should fantasy football.  Clearly it has no affect on the game.  The point about first downs not being scored is a good one too, I would be in favor of that addition.

I would like to play in league where the fantasy football is simulated as very close as possible to the NFL games we watch every weekend. I vote the standard format. It would not matter much for me, however hehehe. But I like more points opportunties for rushers like Ekeler, Henry and Chubb.

I'm glad everyone is on board with yahoo, it's definitely a better and more smooth app /user-face etc.  The drafting on Yahoo is just as easy as the drafting on ESPN if not easier.  

I've had plenty of convos with Hueristic on PPR lol, and while I like it because it makes things more difficult/competitive in my mind, I of course am happy playing Non-PPR.  (btw speedy recovery Hueristic, sorry to hear about that.  I got rid of my motorcycle a few years ago from fear of something similar.  Thank god it wasn't worse ).

Again happy to be commish. I've ran countless leagues, and enjoy doing so ( I've got too much free time on my hands lol ).

There is no algorithm, whether it's PPR or not, auto-draft simply drafts whoever is higher up on the their rankings list.  That list is the same for PPR and Non-PPR.

I don't have time to explain simple algorithm design but basically if you can narrow down a variable then you have an advantage and that is why PPR is being pushed. It gives advantage to the big money that moved into the scene.

But what i'd really like to keep from last year is how the draft order is determined. By default, Yahoo chooses draft order at random one hour before the draft, which is OK, but it's way more fun if we do it with BTC blocks, the hash lottery: [1] [2]. Thought it was pretty cool to get our draft spots picked like that, it adds to the league's appeal imo.

I'm down for a good ol blockchain raffle to manually pick spots I think there is no other way we should do it honestly.  And if we are picking I'm in for ppr.  For what it's worth I've been in leagues where autodraft people never really won.  A big portion of every winner is:

Hitting a long shot in the later rounds
Roster staying healthy
And hitting the waiver wire hitting on some pick ups.

Either way can't wait for the new season.
