I talked about trade vetoes HERE, and only got replies in favor of removing them. Not sure if there is enough time to put it up for voting this close to the draft, it's not a dealbreaker for me, i thought it can only help the league.

@morvillz7z. I did not know there was a veto or votes on trades. Are trades similar to claiming new players from the waiver wire? In any case, if the trades are between participants within our league going into a trade deal with each other, I think there should be a process for transparency and fairness. If it is claiming players from the waiver wire, does this imply that some of my claims were vetoed?

Get well soon Hhampuz. I had covid on June or assumed to have covid hehe. I was in the house of my friend and everyone who went there got sick. Half of the people tested positive, the other half negative. I was one of the people who tested negative but I had one of the worst headaches of my life. I was feeling very sick for a day. The next days I had a cold, however, I felt okay.

@morvillz7z and @Hueristic, yeah I thought we had already discussed the trade timing and veto and stuff.  I totally spaced on that one, and didn't add it to the list of things to vote on.  I remember discussing it briefly and thought everyone agreed that no voting should be done, and no delay needs to be applied.  If two members want to conduct a trade, I don't see why it shouldn't just be decided by those two.

I'll scour the thread to find that discussion and add it to the list, I should be able to do it tomorrow.

AFA trades, yeah apparently we all spaced that one.

This is why I kept warning people (REPEATEDLY) to look at the settings and speak up if you see anything.

Waiting until the last minute is not fair to people that might not see the discussion at the last minute.

Its actually apropos that that is the argument to change the trade settings to one where no one can do anything if someone does a last second trade.

I think 2 days is fine to wait, there is no reason you need to change your team at the last second.

Its not fair to the other player to suddenly find out he is facing a different lineup or worse yet to find out after the games already started that the lineup he thought he was facing has been changed.

There is strategy involved in playing specific lineups for instance if I think there is a good chance I will lose one week I make play alot of risky players with high upside.

If I think there is a 50/50 chance then I will play my dependable players.

That gets skewed if someone pulls a last second trade.

The only thing I'll add is that we're still pending two payments, and BTC is cheap right now...

They are different, when it comes to the waiver wire you are selecting free agents from the market which at that moment belong to no team, when it comes to a trade you're trying to acquire a player which already belongs to another team by offering another player or set of players in return, the veto option more than anything is to avoid collusion but I do not think we have to worry about that here.

Yeah it’s insane how much players get paid these days but at the end of the day they are worth it in theory in regards to how much money they are bringing in for these billionaire owners. Just imagine if the NBA had a cap more like footballs, Lebrons contacts , which are already insane, would be mind blowingly crazy.

@ChiBitCTy. However, this is Denver. They have been looking for their star quarterback hehehe. They also have been waiting for Aaron Rodgers, however, he never left Greenbay after implying many times that he would leave. Deshaun Watson was also mentioned before but he is not a good choice after the scandal. I think it is the correct business decision by the Broncos to keep Russell Wilson for 5 years.

Just finished a draft for my other league... 12-man, took about 1 hr 6 mins... pretty fast. Didn't get my first pick of choice, hopefully I will tomorrow. It was a good warm-up.

I haven't read up on the deal, but usually these fat contracts only have ~50% of the money guaranteed, and the rest is incentive dependent.  Still, that's a quite a lot of dough, for sure.  I'd be happy with a contract for 1% of that, lol.

Everybody won in that restructuring, in my opinion.  Garoppolo may have taken a $16M pay-cut but he's still on a team, with a "no-trade" clause, which just means he has final say on whether a trade goes through or not.  Taking the pay-cut shows the league's owners that he's willing to negotiate and compromise for the sake of the team.  And ~$7M guaranteed for the year is a damn good deal for a backup.  He also knows he's likely to be offered more if a trade opportunity does present itself, and he will earn more from the 9ers if he ends up having to play.

For the team: they get to start the season with a solid, reliable Ford in the garage while they try out their new Ferrari.  If the Ferrari proves as reliable as the Ford, they'll have a bargaining chip for some future draft picks, and can trade him during the season.
