Ajax have been consistently in 1st or 2nd place for a decade. In the 2022/2023 season they are in third place and last season was their worst performance in 10 years because they were only able to finish in fifth place in the standings. But I still believe Ajax will be able to perform better this season. I am not sure about their chances of winning the League but I am sure Ajax will be a title contender again. Twente and AZ Alkmaar performed surprisingly last season but I doubt they will be able to maintain their performance like the previous season.

The bigger problem of Ajax is not just the coach that left, but the fact that they constantly sell off their star players. I know this is something they are known for since they have a very good academy but I think it's starting to catch up with them.
Since the season they had a very good Champions League run where they got to the semi-final, they've sold almost all their star players. Players like Frenkie, De Ligt, Shone, Tadic, Van De Beck, Neres, Blind, Antony and many more players have been sold.
Selling players when you don't have replacements is always a bad move. I believe they will get back with time because they also have a good recruiting team but they have to take this as a warning if they want to remain a relevant club in the league.

I agree with everything you said, Ajax are still not at the same good level they were in the past and in the game against Heerenveen they didn't lose only because Heerenveen's attacking players were not very inspired, Heerenveen players managed to make good passes, created good opportunities, but when it came to finishing they made mistakes, I believe that Robin van Persie needs to get better players to improve Heerenveen's attack, while Francesco Farioli will have a lot of work to do to improve Ajax and from what I see, this season Ajax only signed Bertrand Traoré who comes from Villareal, and they brought Christian Rasmussen from Ajax B, honestly I don't see Ajax being able to win the title, I see Ajax finishing in second or third place

After having worst end in last season we are having some development in Ajax even it's never been easy for team to have best quickly, but they are doing good and having good results with most chances in this season we will have them in UEFA Europa Cup because they are doing good at qualifying rounds and their start here in Eredivisie is also good even we can talk perfect but still this was good as they were able to beat Heerenveen by small margin as opponent also having new coach Robin Persie.

Ajax can go through for good results in this season while we are having usual all five teams at the top but as we have few changes of coaches and other we can expect some surprise because few clubs are looking for improvement and better end of their season in league table.

We lost in a game where we had a good chance of winning. It's funny that Ajax had 75% ball possession, had more shots on target and still only managed to score 1 goal and concede 2 goals against a not very strong opponent, so I predict that Ajax could end up in the same position they finished next season and I wonder: when will we see Ajax fighting for the title? because I see that this season they are already showing signs that they are not ready to fight for the title, especially because PSV continues to be very strong as in the last 3 seasons. It's long time we have no activity from the OP @casperBGD, so I don't think so we can change the title of this thread as users are having no intention of title as well, and they are using this without any problem.

In last 14 years, we have 7 titles for the Ajax with all other teams having honor, but we have dominance for only Ajax which is now suffering due to having some bad decisions and PSV is having good dominance because 14 years back they were at the top and have few back to back titles as well now again they are bringing themselves to this level to have good results and stay at the top their start of this season is impressive with Ajax and Feyenoord both are struggling we will be having changes in coming rounds but with the current performance level I am not expecting any team to be created problems for the leaders PSV.

Now as we will be having start of the UEFA events we will be having some busy schedule for the top teams which can bring some changes but mostly here in Eredivisie is having good rotation system which helps these top teams to stay at the top level and having good results in all competitions as well.

Well, Ajax has played 2 games in which they lost and won one, that's why they have 3 points. While PSV has played 4 games, won all 4 games and has 12 points, the other teams in the league have played 3 to 4 games. Ajax is the only team that has only played 2 games. Now we need to see what results Ajax will have when they play the next 2 games. If they lose then we can already conclude that Ajax has a greater chance of not winning the league and maybe not even finishing in 2nd or 3rd position because Feyenoord, who are not performing as well as they did last season, may finish in 2nd position.




AZ is starting this season very well, they have played 4 games, won 3 games and drew 1 game, but they have not conceded any goals. They are currently in second place with 10 points. I wonder if they will be able to maintain this position until the end of the season.

In the first week of the Dutch league, there were no surprises. Last season's champions PSV started the league in a good way by defeating their rival Waalwijk with 5 goals in their first league match.
Another team that managed to get a different win was Groningen. It was also a good week for Groningen, who won 4-1 at home against NAC Breda.

There may not be much surprises in terms of the better teams winning their matches but by my pattern of playing this league, I was so disappointed at the outcome of some of the key matches. Normally, PSV is a high scoring side and being at home against a weak side Go Ahead Eagles, I expected them to produce at least 4 goals. Unfortunately, they were only able to produce 3 goals and that was how I lost this weekend. They won their first match with 5 goals just like you stated and I was thinking that trend would continue but they failed to deliver my expectations even though they did not concede any goal. Straight home win was not a great option for me because the odd was too small.

Not in the last decade at least. They used to finish first or second until two seasons ago when they finished third and the previous disastrous season when they ended it fifth luckily..
When we look in the standings, we will see Ajax ranked 12th but in reality they still lacks two more games, one of them against Fortuna Sittard that will be played in two weeks. It was delayed because Ajax were playing in UEFA Europa League play-offs and they won and passed to the main competition. Well the game vs Fortuna will not be easy but Ajax used to win against it or at least gets a draw.
Winning the two lacking games will keep Ajax 3 points behind PSV Eindhoven which looks serious this season too.

Ajax has not found the rhythm of the game, its performance is not stable but we do not have to conclude that they will not be able to develop because they lost in the second match. The season is still young, there is still enough time to restore its best performance, especially Ajax has only played two matches and has a difference of two matches from other competing clubs including the current leader of the standings. that can be utilized. let's just enjoy the progress and see in the future, maybe Ajax will surprise.
