Not sure though if Broner or someone in his camp cared to give some evidence that proves he has some mental issues that's why he backed out from that fight. Who wouldn't be so pissed about that? Grin You've allocated all your time and effort for a certain boxer to study his moves in the ring and Figueroa is really looking forward to fight Broner in the same ring but unfortunately, Broner turns his back on him.

Oh well, we really will not know the real reasons for now, maybe they just said to the organizations that AB has mental issues and can't be bothered and so he wanted to cancel the fight, so it is what it is. This could be the new norm of excuses if fighters just wake up and doesn't what to fight anymore. For sure Broner will get a lot of judgement on this one. Specially on his style and arrogant and self-important this guy is when promoting his fight.
Evidence should be provided or if not there should be penalties that must be imposed.
I read an article before that Figueroa's camp has some evidence that Broner is not really in a bad mental state.
He even called it just a reason to "cop out".
I guess this is the next bad reasoning after the Covid. Figueroa's fans are still not satisfied with what happened (loss to Lipinets) and all the blame are on what Broner did. I guess it really sucks to prepare at a full blow for your real match but will end up fighting a different boxer.

I think, Figueroa's camp should let things go.  Besides, it is their own incompetence that made them lose the fight.  It does suck to have the opponent replaced at the last moment but if the fight goes the other way around and Figueroa's won the fight, I doubt there will be an issue like this.  Besides, both fighters had given the same amount of time for preparation for the strategy since both fighters are notified at the same time.

Things already happened and no matter what the fans would feel about the result, they can't do anything about it anymore. They better accept it while still supporting Figueroa at the same time. Issues like this often happen especially if the fans didn't reach their expected result. If they have complaints about it, they should have provided rete proof to support their claims but since they can't provide one, I guess the best thing to do for them is just to accept defeat.

Jake Paul has announced his next opponent is Anderson Silva. I think Jake might have but off a little more than he can chew this time. Sure, Silva is damn near 50 years old, but he’s got power that Jake hasn’t seen before. I like this fight. I’d rather have seen him fight Andrew Tate, but this was unexpected and a nice surprise.

Not surprised to see that the Paul brothers still have this type of fight. Well, just another buck making match for them and as well as for Anderson.
The match is said to happen by October, no odds yet for this match on stake but most likely we'll see when we go near to the match date.

Figueroa's had move forward already, of course there could be what if for him, maybe he can beat this version of Broner. But he has found his peace already, and just retire for good and focus on his family. We can't say the same with Broner though, I think he will still continue to fight for some money because he has a lot of mouths to feed.

Yes it is, https://www.mmafighting.com/2022/8/30/23328607/jake-paul-vs-anderson-silva-reportedly-set-for-october-boxing-bout

Quote
Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva is about to go down.

TMZ reported Tuesday that Paul is set to face longtime UFC middleweight champion and MMA legend Silva in a boxing bout in October, with a location still to be determined. An initial report from NoSmokeBoxing has the bout scheduled for Oct. 29.

MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz reached out to sources with knowledge of the matchup who confirmed that the bout is in the works.

Still a good fight and it make sense as it could still make a lot of money for both of them. But we all know that Anderson is way past his prime so all the advantage points to him.

Right, that's what they basically do right now in boxing/MMA, exhibition fights with former champions and then see how much money they can make it. Not sure how much guarantee money is for Silva, but I will speculate that it could be in the millions and then Jake Paul taking the lionshare of it. For sure there are still fans that is willing to go to live gate and watch it or buy PPV. So in any case, it's a win win. However, for pure boxing fans, not sure if they will bet on it or want to watch this kind of exhibition matches.

It's a money making business so everyone shouldn't be shock by the Paul brothers. They shock the internet and now they are conquering exhibitions matches will huge revenues in the millions. so they will continue to do it as long as fans are willing to buy.

But as you have said, pure boxing fans doesn't like the idea of this kind of matches. Might be good in the pandemic, when Tyson and Roy Jones Jr fought for pure entertainment and so called money being raised for charity. But after that, it's all business, Floyd and the Paul brothers.

He still have a power, but I think it's unlikely we might see Jake will lost here.

Silva has nothing to lose here, he doesn't have a clean record, he wouldn't mind to get one or more losses due to his old ages. As we can see after he's already 38 years old, almost all of his result only keep losing, he only won once from 9 fought. Another thing he's a MMA fighter, his strength mainly on kick, not punch.

I just take this fight for entertain only and obviously I will bet Paul if the odds isn't really low, we're know Paul will win lol.

But I think that this is quite normal and even logical. Top boxers fight once a year (at best) and not every fight is interesting. It is difficult enough to be satisfied with such rare events. Unlike professional fights, show fights are almost guaranteed to provide entertainment and they can be held at least every week - literally as much as the public is willing to pay with their attention and money. The pandemic has popularized this type of entertainment, but this does not mean that at the end of the pandemic, the public should cool off for such fights.

Yes, it's hard to find the excitement for matches like this that's why bettors would just let it pass, I mean for me that will be the case.
It's a money-building thing and just for mere entertainment. Some would want to watch the fight being a long-time fan of Anderson Silva and some scouts also trying to figure out if he still has the power. And maybe, who knows, create something out of it. Turn it into a trend and fix more matches for him even at his age.
Paul should still be careful though as that hands of Silva are packed with a lot of power. If he gets knocked out, he better keep laying on the mat.

The pandemic has popularized this type of entertainment, but this does not mean that at the end of the pandemic, the public should cool off for such fights.

There are still fans who wanted to see their former champ to fight inside the ring and promoters are taking advantage knowing that there's still ticket sales that they can convert each time they offer this kind of events. Even it's no longer the same crowd as with the pandemic but they can still collect a good amount of money for this kind of fights.

It's on the fans and the gamblers who are still thinking that they are willing to take that gamble and enjoy the fight.

I just hope that he have learned the lesson that being overconfident is also dangerous. But yes, despite that he's aware of who can he beat and win.

It's better for him to have that emotion set at the normal setting so that it won't overwhelm him when he's on another match whether it will be from a lower division fighter or of the same.

Who? Donaire? I don't really think that he have that kind of attitude where goes being overconfident to his foe because of his capabilities, we know Donaire's attitude towards Inoue though but none of it shouts that he's overconfident.

Even us didn't really expected that Inoue will evolve that much because we think that they will still have a long 12-round fight where there will be a long blow-by-blow punches all the way to the 12th round. But Inoue finished Donaire in just 2 rounds with a stoppage.
On his match with Inoue, he said that he's going to beat Inoue and that's what I think that he became overconfident on that time. That's just my opinion and if you think guys that it's not a sign that he's overconfident with those words, that's okay.

It is what I've thought of him.

But I want the best for him if he ever will have another match again. We all love to see him back and healthy again with a win.

Well, I think Donaire can beat Inoue if he is still in his prime, but sadly his body can't catch up with his words since he already lost a lot of speed due to aging in their fight.  But as far as I know, Donaire has never been overconfident in his fight, to the point that he is slacking in training.  Having a self confidence is helpful in a boxer since he can think clearly and won't be intimidated by the opponent.

Yes, right. Those words that Donaire has said before the fight isn't a sign of being an overconfident but he is just confident on himself that in the rematch he is more prepared. But when the rematch started, it was evident that Inoue has evolved into a literal monster where Donaire was left astonished because he didn't expected that at all, Inoue now is really on a different level!

Anderson Silva once was one of the best in the world but after he got beat by Chris Weidman, the match in which Anderson Silva tried to showboat a little too much and got knocked out, Anderson Silva has not been the same.

If I remember correctly he lost six fights among the eight that he fought after that. And it is understandable because the guy is getting old.

Jake Paul is very powerful. And obviously in my opinion has a better punching power compared to Anderson Silva currently in my opinion. Honestly, it is not going to be very surprising if Jake Paul actually ends up winning. After all, he has been winning fights that he wasn’t supposed to win, right?

Is this an exhibition fight? Or Anderson Silva is making his pro-debut in boxing at an age of 47? Grin
I already knew this fight would come after Jake's fight has been cancelled against Rahman Jr., it was already rumored that Jake would fight Silva but ignored it as it will be an another money fight for Jake Paul. Sure, Silva is a professional and deadly athlete but that's on octagon and not in the ring. Also, Silva is already old enough and I'd say this he is just after the guaranteed money he can get after the fight.

Probably a pro-debut  Grin.  I am looking for a reply from people who don't want an exhibition fight like this but it looks like I can't find one  Cheesy.  It looks like they already accepted the fact that boxing is not only a sport but more a business thing.  I like watching Silva in his MMA moments, but I wonder if he can fare enough with boxing.  So I am thinking of exhausted Silva after round 4.

Definitely! But still, it is interesting to watch a fight like this, especially when a person involved had made a dominating fighter impression on our minds.

Unlike before, it's all about winning. Now, they are coming in because of the mountain of money involved in it. I still admire boxers who are putting a lot of effort into their body and training. Like Pacquiao for example, but there will always be that thought of most of the time it's about money. It was stained by this kind of bout so it should not be seriously taken.
Definitely! But still, it is interesting to watch a fight like this, especially when a person involved had made a dominating fighter impression on our minds.
As a fan of Silva yes, I would love to watch it too. Who would not want to watch a kid (Jake Paul) being beaten by a 47-year-old? Silva will have a lot of support from those who want to shut down this kind of guy.

You already fall for the hype, Lol, because that is the same tactic that Floyd uses, everyone wanted to see his fight and wanted to see him being knockout like by Manny, but he didn't happen.

So maybe the same mindset here, Silva is legendary during his prime he just toys with the best middleweight MMA fighter. And he has a successful boxing career if I'm not mistaken. So we want him to give Jake Paul a lesson not to mess with a legend. But I doubt that it will happen, seems this could be rig and Paul hands is going to be raised as the winner.

You are right, and it doesn't really matter what a popular person does - his followers will look at it with interest anyway. If you take twitch, then the most popular streamers, no matter what they do - from just chatting to playing some kind of stupid game (not interesting to anyone if you don’t take into account who plays it) always collect a huge number of viewers. Similarly with these fights - legends are always interesting, even if they have grown old and cannot be competitive in purely professional sports.

As long as the promoters do their job it can be converted to a huge amount of profits, legends are happy for giving them chance/opportunities to step back inside the ring, with a good amount of offers and with some medical securities that will be discussed behind those fighters even they are no longer on their fighting shape they will accept the challenge.

There's something inside them that will continue to be delighted once a fight being schedule, especially if they see fans who are still cheering for them and still happy to see them fighting.

Of course, Jake Paul will be the one with the widest smile after the fight because of the victory he could get from this fight but this won't gather him any hype at all because Silva is not already in his A-game and we can't really expect that Silva can defeat Jake Paul. Also, I'm thinking that Jake Paul is just testing the water if this fight will be profitable for both sides especially for him as he will garner the most revenue.
