Zeus looking for a new hosting partner? I missed that one, care to share a link?
Very pissed off. The original partnership was announced in a quasi-press release (CCN) and this is the first time anyone is saying anything about it, what, dissolving? Transparency is a requirement in this business. http://us8.campaign-archive2.com/?u=e7f58a67b04eae5ef4525d2a8&id=68ae6f1016&e=b528a3d51cLook for the heading "A few words about hosting service....". I think, unfortunately, it was worded very carefully. Edit: Wow, this thread lost a whole page today. I agree with you on this. They are not being transparent about the hosting. I just spoke to Terry on this. I was not going to say anything out-loud, but now that I read the way they worded that, I am. They did this as a stale tactic as the hardware is delayed. Essentially, they through us under the bus to save face. We are still doing all the hosting, but the hardware is not available to do it yet. In short, you are correct here, and I want to be open about whats going on. Reactor, sent you a few PMs I've worked in IT and owned a business for over 10 years now and I've NEVER seen anything like this litecoin ASIC rush. There have been bumps, some larger than others, that would NOT pass in the real world. But since we're all greedy we're willing to look the other way. I'm super pissed at Zeus, I have a Cyclone ordered with them and it's been stuck in a customs warehouse for 2 days now being "inspected". No return emails from them, I can't call them, I can't PM the CEO on a forum, etc. Josh, you and I have exchanged quite a few PM's and you know my thoughts on this. I hold everybody accountable, and so far you're the ONLY one that's doing it right now. I rate Josh 'Good" Josh of GAW not bad Josh of BFL as the most accessible business owner of mining gear I have ever dealt with. He also makes a real effort to satisfy my issues. I am only in the 3-5k range of customer yet he pays attention to me. Second place is Mike of zoom hash he is pretty good wit problems and does pay attention. But after reading results on this new GAW gear so far it looks to me that a grid seed blade is the better miner. Maybe the watts are wrong but they seem to be really high. falcon 1000 watts for 25-27mh is terrible compared to 5 grid seed blades.

What do you have against gaw?
You can start with the OP and I can add that out of my 5 orders with them not a single one was without issues. At the last count I had 32 tickets with support and I think that is way way too much. I'm a very reasonable person but this experience has tested my patience like nothing else. By comparison, I've spent about an order of magnitude more money with other vendors and had about an order of magnitude fewer (perhaps a handful total) of support contacts, and none of the tooth pulling that comes with GAW. I won't even go into the bizarre PMs with the "CEO" with his whole agenda thing. And yes, the lies. I hate liars. I know I'm in the minority with this, but that doesn't make it right. To your point about this being wild-west-gold-rush type of thing - sure there's that, but that doesn't make it right either. I'm sure if I had the misfortune to deal with BFL or KNC or some other "darlings" of this forum I'd be harping at full volume too. As it is now, GAW happens to be my favorite shit-dealer.

The lack of quality and obviously missing Q/A done on this hardware as well as a complete and total lack of information surrounding operating the hardware, combined with the inherent danger of the power issues people are talking about, is why I'm walking away from this. Pardon my language, but this is the theater of the fucking absurd right now. Gold rush = true. Everyone involved in association with Zeus. It's like there was this vision to slip into the market and somehow the desire to put hardware out quickly led to major issues along the way. Is it the chips? The board design? Don't know, don't care. People are complaining here, people are complaining on GAW product reviews, people are complaining on Zeus product reviews - in fact, other than the Fury, which magically clicked into working mode after almost four hours of reconnecting to Zen every once in a while and seeing if it wanted to hash (verified poolside, not zenside). I decided after reading everything on the main thread I did not feel comfortable running anything dealing with Zeus on any of my main mining rpis, so I'm using the zenBox that is a 100ft cable from the router in my living room. But you know what, unless I find someone with a recommendation for a better power supply for this thing, I'm going to return this piece of shit the hardware. Why? I originally ordered a 15w device, so in some way comparable to what Gridseed has had on the market for a while and has run like a charm on whatever software I chose. And I got involved in helping Sandor with feedback on the Gridseed tuning thread. Made me feel good to help with any info I could and in return have rock solid Gridseed hardware running 24/7 with over 99% acceptance rates. Especially felt good after feeling like the whole crypto community was a seedy black hole after watching scam after scam in the BTC hardware world. Back to that 15w device. Never got a kill-a-wat so I can only trust what others are posting, but I know the combo with the RPI puts it well over 40w. Know how many Gridseed units I can run for that much power and the hashrate I'd be seeing? I'm in this for the long haul, so power/hashrate is everything and this is a FAILURE. But yeah, that 15w device. I mean, not to be nit-picky, but for fucks sakes people still have it advertised as "pocket sized". Someone at least update this shit because that is a complete and total lie and is on everyone's site. Oh yeah, the 15w device. The power supplies for all my GS products barely run warm. Hell, they're a day in December compared to how hot my old BFL power supply got. But the power supply for this now 35w device. It is running so damn hot I had to dig out a fan and point a fan at it. Again, no kill a watt so I don't know how much extra juice that is pulling. I'm pointing a fan at the power supply for something that is smaller than any dev book sitting next to me. In fact, I don't trust this freaking thing isn't going to short out while I'm sleeping tonight, just unplugging the damn thing before I go to bed. Now... I've been writing this reply over the course of hours. I see waldo on the main thread, which is a complete mess, giving people instructions on how to jump power supplies. Welcome to the future of mining where people have to jump mf'ing PSUs that may not even be suitable for the posted numbers that anyone is giving. But I've been writing this for hours because I'm seethingly mad at the entire situation and honestly sad I wasted so much damn time on all of this. Someone very smart on this board told me to calm down and wait until this stuff starts shipping, I should have, would have saved a lot of nonsense. People are complaining at every vendor that is shipping. Tried looking around, other Zeus-related vendors are a little quiet on this situation. But customers, oh shit, customers are speaking up. Zeus customers and GAW customers alike. And all the complaints are sounding the same in regards to the hardware. I seriously hope one of these things doesn't explode on someone, regardless of whose name is slapped on the Zeus hardware. Here's my final contribution to this whole mess. I'm just going to watch this crap from the sidelines from now on. Peace all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHE0wmgljco IF the power reports are true.48 watts on a kwatt meter for 1 fury unit it runs 1.3mhs A second poster claims 3 at 3.9mh total are pulling 152 watts! I am running 2 grid seed blades and 1 5 chip grid seed I am pulling 167 watts. and I am getting 9.9mh 7.5 times the hash for 3.2 times the power. in one case. in the second case 15 extra watts earns me 6mh these numbers are nuts if true. now the fury numbers were done with a little cheap brick. but the falcon numbers were about 1k watts on a gold psu .. that is 25-27mh on a gold psu 1000 watt I do not have 5 grid seed blades but my plat psu would pull under 480 watts and hash the same. So this means the entire line of gear is worth 50% per hash of the grid seed blade... you can get a grid seed blade for around 750 so 5 are a little less say 3650 take 5 days to get here. and a falcon is 3300 due to ship the 9th of june. grid seeds are rock solid will use ½ the power. I really like gaw miners but wtf were they thinking?? these are crazy bad on power .. everyone purchased with a cc is eligible to be returned. I am thinking this will kill them. if the power reports are true a lot of shit will hit the fan I hope the power reports are wrong

I'm hoping that even with the power issues enough of these hit the market that the A2 chips (Inosiliconwhatever) drop in price because 28nm is where it's at and the people with those are not complaining nearly as much as the Zeus products. Still, even with the power usage it beats the hell out of GPUs.

I'll do some side-by-side comparison when I get my Blizzards but if the 40-50W per 1.3 MH/s Scrypt is true I think I'd rather have 750 Ti hashing X11.

The Black Widow is a really nice bit of kit, but there is no denying it draws 600W not the 370W stated. Hopefully the upcoming update Josh talked about will address this somewhat. At the moment I fear people are actually at risk of setting fire to their homes with some of the larger miners if they are not paying attention.

Just when I thought it's going to be a slow day, I stumbled upon this little gem, thanks to GAW delete button being apparently asleep. Business must be really bad if they need to threadcrap competitors Honestly people. I can tell you how it works. I am tired of how people like Jack operates and lies. It does a lot of damage to our community. As a co-founder of Gaw Miners, I am based in Shenzhen. I know of intricate details of the supply chain. Jack has on multiple occasions emailed me and declared that he has 1,000 if not 10,000 units coming in. Please, I work in the industry and he expects me to believe he put down $1m - $10m to buy stock. LA never use their own money and rely on presales and hitting targets demanded by manufacturers through groupbuys.
To me LA operates in either 2 ways:
1. Sell the latest miners that has eta dates. When promises are made, it can not be kept as the promise are either outright lies or too optimistic. Causes a lot of anger from customers, but customers have a short memory as LA seems to have the lowest prices. This leads to point 2.
2. Rather than sell stock at higher margins, LA and multiple others alike in China sell stock at super low margins and make it up for the 1st or 2nd week of customer's miners. Go do a BTC or LTC calculation on a calculator and you can see how much % profit can be made in the first 2 weeks. Chinese resellers are the biggest culprits. There is no doubt in my mind LA has your miner, its just in their farm hashing for their account. Chinese labour is super cheap to setup miners and take them down after use. Gaw Miners has high integrity and a huge brand to protect and we have never and will never do that.
Customers and people in the community needs to understand this business model, and if you continue to want to buy from resellers like this. It is your choice.
Other culprits are other Chinese agents on this forum and the biggest culprit is Dragon Miners.

well maybe the firmware will drop watts to a better number. but 2x the watts of a gridseed at equal hash is not good.
I am disappointed as I wanted to buy some of them. I am happy I got an antminer s-1 from them when they sent me a credit last week.

Gaw Miners has high integrity Yeah, we can see that integrity being sprayed all over the GAW thread by sock-puppet fan-boy accounts. As has been said, GAW must be desperate if they are having to crap all over someone else's thread. Got a valid criticism GAW, or just dropping by to fling poo at your fellow countrymen? Classy.

I understand there are issues but there's a reason why nvidia, AMD, Intel, Sun, Motorola and TI are not making these chips don't you think? They are inherently unstable it seems and are always being pushed/overclocked to eek out the most minor speed improvements.
As for the others, you certainly goaded them on well enough and it was pretty easy for you to do given your anonymity when they had to essentially let you know who they were. Some of the statements "from" GAW look/read like they are being passed on from Zeus. When they say "we" have been testing I think it's more like "the team of GAW/Zeus but really Zeus" is telling us.
Traditional mining is a dirty business and so is this it seems but I'll say it again, GAW tries to make it right and for me personally I don't have any buyers remorse (well maybe still some Gridseed Blade sting.)
One more thing, where is the "Zeus miner" thread instead of dumping this all on GAW?

Don't jump into conclusions guys. Give them time to work it out, the miners have been out only for a day. You'll have every right to blame them if they won't manage to make it work as advertised. The additional power draw is a big blunder, but I'm sure they didn't know about it few days ago and are trying to fix it.

+1 But given how hot my cables and PSU are I'm now left wondering if I shouldn't have picked the hosted option. I'll have to play with frequency a bit.

Yes people can be stupid but they also may be approaching things from a different angle. For example, even though I have hosted miners, I wouldn't mind a Falcon at the new wattage because I'm sitting next to a 3x 290 rig with an 1100W PSU that is only getting 2500MHs. So yeah, that would be a hell of an improvement even with some HW errors tossed in.
There have been some pedaling/backpedaling going on but in the end I'm hashing away with real power on a real product that was a pre-order people said would never come in. I haven't been doing this that long (6 months maybe) but even I know nothing in crypto goes all that smoothly. I think one of the issues GAW has they brought on themselves by making it too slick, making it seem like anyone can mine when the reality is it's still a bit more complicated than that.
Quick edit: Yeah, I hope nothing blows up either, for anyone.

The primary issue with the power consumption boost is that a 'firm' number wasn't documented till after Week 1 units were delivered to people. If they are in fact using the same units for hosting (cases, chips, etc.) then they should have been well aware of the power draw prior to release since it was posted that they had the actual fury/widow/falcon/war machine on hand during the pre-order phase.
There was a change in the power consumption needs on the store pages a week or two ago after Gaw CEO posted about a 10-15% increase in power + hashing speed, so this is a second bump in the power needs for these ASICs. This newest one ultimately more egregious since it wasn't pointed out till people had the units in hand.
I only a Fury (and two week 2 coming next week), and the power brick that came with it gets pretty damn hot. I can only imagine trying to cool down the PSUs for the bigger machines!

Dear Forum Users and Customers,
This will be our last announcement here Smiley.
Lets start with a brief update. The last few days have been incredible. Between shipping all the first weeks’ Generation A Miners and launching our partnership with ZenMiner, it’s been an exciting week!
We could not be more excited by the feedback we have received from our GENERATION A LAUNCH; here are just a few comments:
Review: New user, first post here.
Boxes have started arriving in the mail, and I just wanted to give some major kudos to GAW and Josh in particular. We took a gamble on you for this pre-order business but I'm starting to breathe much easier now. GAW has delivered on absolutely everything they've promised, and much, much more. - store credit to compensate for Gridseed price drop - next day, free shipping on product launch - non-stop engagement on this forum by Josh, keeping us informed and answering questions and concerns - excellent response to customer service inquiries - free zenminer controllers
Oh. My. GAW.
Seriously. I just keep getting more than I ever expected.
And I'm sure I'm missing some. This level of customer service (especially in this particular business) is unprecedented, and I have to believe that this product launch is a loss-leader when everything is tallied. BUT... GAW has made a loyal customer here, and probably many more.
Whatever the mining future holds, I can't wait to see GAW play a major role in it. Keep up the great work.
Review: I just got the unexpected Zen Controller / Raspberry Pi gift from GAWminers. Thank you so much! I've never received a outright gift like that from a company before.
And I got tracking for my Week 1 Fury - maybe slightly behind schedule but the free upgrade to DHL courier more than makes up for that. It will get here days sooner than regular post.
Thanks for everything GawMiners!
Review: My Black Widows are running for a few hours now, the mentioned 18mhs seems about right. Variance is quite high but in the long run it's arund 18mhs.
So getting 18mhs for an advertised 13mhs machine is quite outstanding if you ask me!
Cheers and thanks GAW-team
Review: I have a Fury hosted and can report of the same hashrate, very happy, too :-)
Review: My miners have been up and running for a few hours now so I thought I'd report the hash rates I'm seeing.
Black Widows - portal and poolside, 18MH/s! Fury - portal, 1MH/s, poolside, 1.6-1.8MH/s!
Review: Wow, I am beyond happy. GAW delivered early and the miners are producing way over advertised hash rate. What more could you ask for? Awesome. Cool
Only down side is instead of taking those $750 used G-blades of your hands I'm gonna have to buy another Black Widow now. Cheesy
Review: Another happy GAW customer here. I've ordered (and received) 2 Gridseeds from them in the past and just completed an order for a Fury. Very happy with the service (Amanda was great!) and looking forward to getting the Fury and included Zen Controller!
Review: Received 2 days ago, super easy setup and running at 1.3-1.8 mhs. Great customer service and Zencontroller is amazing. Waiitng to see those week one prices again. Keeep up the good work gawminer
Review: 1 week Fury. Im very happy with this product. Nice hash 1.3-1.4 MH/S in my pool. Working good with free ZenControler. What else?
Review: Received my ZenMiner 1 day before receiving my Fury , Web page is easy to access , nothing hard to config , ZENOS as been updated now we can see accepted shares etc.. much better now , and will probably be much more better in a few days
Review: I bought a Black Widow from GAW after my Cyclone from Zeus. My Black Widow shipped AFTER my Cyclone, and my Black Widow is hashing away at 14MH/s while my Cyclone sits in a Chinese warehouse being probed. I'm definitely unhappy with my Zeus purchase and wish I had put that money towards a bigger box from GAW instead.
GAW seems to be the perfect company to buy hardware from at this moment. Where zeus was first in the spot of: best hardware company, now GAW does. They offer free shipping (or for 25 bucks express shipping), and are a lot cheaper than Zeusminer. And oh they even give a refund... I think about 80% of the people would actually cancel their order if it would be possible, and go to GAW miners. But maybe I have an image of GAWminers which isn't realistic
I'd go with GAW again in a heartbeat, they even take cc's which makes this easier.
As the week ends, we have another exciting announcement Smiley
GAW Miners is moving from the bitcointalk forum:
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with "Get Satisfaction" to launch “GAW Community”! Our new platform will allow us to deliver better support and announcements.
We will also offer new features like being able to vote on new products you would like us to offer and pitching us ideas!
GAW Community is located at: community.gawminers.com
This has been an amazing ride and we are so thankful to everyone in the community that has supported us here. We thank the staff at bitcointalk for their support and dedication to our company.
Going forward, all support and conversation will take place on “GAW Community”. So we will be locking this thread. We will still check in on our PM from time to time, but we will no longer provide any support through bitcointalk.
Farewell and we will see you on GAW Community!

I'm currently puzzled by a couple of things: Why is this thread getting shorter? Somebody must be removing their posts, just can't figure out why How is GAW going to improve their reputation by leaving? I guess they have written off bitcointalk audience as hopeless and will focus their marketing elsewhere. It might even work for long enough to complete a couple more preorders of some crap or another but I'm having trouble understanding their long term plan. Perhaps there isn't one.
