A hattrick is always a great thing to achieve but to do this in a world cup final is an even bigger accomplishment. I don't really know the statistics but i am not sure if a player ever managed to do this before. Maybe Pele but i don't think anyone else. If we look a little closer though then we also have to keep in mind that 2 of his 3 goals were penalties. Of course penalties count just as much as "normal" goals and you have to make then in frist but i still think that it is a difference, if you scored 3 goals out of the running game, or if you scored those goals via penalties.
