This is becoming the poorest we have performed on any global sport competitions. I don't watch the Olympics because I'm not having fun watching when my country can't give us one medal to celebrate. We can't be having 98 athletes and we don't have any medal to celebrate not even a bronze medal. This shows how backwards we're win sports and how corrupt is killing the country but we aren't doing anything to end this. Other Africans are making their country proud but Nigeria got nothing.
In retrospect, it was obvious that we weren’t going to win a medal in women’s football. However I thought we had a good chance in the track games which made the results even more disappointing. The Olympics has come to an end and Nigeria did not manage to win a medal although we had Nigerians winning medals for other countries in the Olympics.

Even though we didn’t win gold in the Summer Olympics, this recognition of one of our own is something we all need right now and for me it feels like a gold medal. Congratulations to Rene Wakama! It is an award well deserved.

Congratulations to her but that's not what we should be celebrating because there's no results for the award she's winning. We can't be losing and yet getting praises, it isn't going to give us the fire that we need to come back better for the next Olympics. The award should go to the winning team because then you can say the coach is the best because she lead her team to the finals and won it but ours are in no finals so why are they giving her a participation award so it looks like they're encouraging Africa, Please.
You raised a good point. I do not know what metrics are used to determine the best candidate for the award. My joy will quickly sour if it is like you said and the award is a participation trophy to encourage the underdogs. For now I will protect my joy and say congrats to Rene Wakama.

Hope she retains her job though, that she doesn't get fired as Poseiro was after taking the super eagles close to becoming African champions. This coach has achieved a new record, she deserves some accolades but at the same time has to be retained and charged with a bigger responsibility of taking D'Tigress further than they came in the next Olympics. We are proud of them and have high hopes for them.
