Hakimi just missed a penalty that would have renewed their hope in the match as they are losing one goal to nil. It is obvious the big teams are being kicked out of the competition this year. If South African is able to hold their one goal lead against Morocco to the end of the match, it will become confirmed that all the big teams are out. Yesterday, Ivory Coast defeated Senegal the favorite team to win the trophy and also the defending champion. Today is another unexpected result, a clear indication that this year's AFCON is unique.

Hakimi disappointed many people's faces yesterday when he lost that penalty shot. It was very painful to see him again destroy Morocco’s chance of equalising in the march, although I will say that Morocco were not just lucky in the game yesterday, because they ended up losing the game by a score of 0-2, and South Africa got their second goal after the red card given to Amrabat.

Seeing as almost all the favourite and strongest teams have been knocked out of the season, there should be a clearly unpredictable AFCON. If Nigeria are able to beat Angola in their game, all hope will be in Nigeria because it might be the only strong team left to participate, that is, if definitely they have the victory over Angola.

Apparently now I won’t predict any game about AFCON anymore because how this season AFCON is going to me is unpredictable, so the next game will be on Friday, which will be between Nigeria and Angola. I know everyone will focus on this game to see if definitely Nigeria will win the march, which I believe in them but can’t predict, and if definitely that happens, all hope will be on Nigeria to have the trophy.

I don't think the promise Angola bank made to their team will change anything from Angola players if they fail to prepare well to meet Nigeria players because, super eagles of Nigeria are not weak team you can use money to force your players to perform better than them.
Dont underestimate what money can do to those players brother. Believe it or not, their is no weaker team in this tournament and every team is hungry and eager to go home with the cup and no one is ready to take chances. Seeing those promises coming as an addition to the desire the players to win the Nigerian side will boast their moral the more to put in additional to at least secure a draw and go into penalties to see how things will play out

Nigeria is my favorite side and I'm sure hoping that they will win this Friday encounter but I'm not expecting an easy win at all. I like the team spirit from the Nigerian side and I believe if they are able to put out the same performance they used against the Cameroonian team, victory will be sure.

Nija all the way.

Even aside from just the benefits promised to the the Angola team, their performance have been really impressive since the beginning of the AFCON. The Angola players are going to be wild during the match day so I hope our Nigerian brothers will go extremely hard on them this one. If we should escape this one then we have an 85% certainty of lifting the cup.

Mali beat Burkina Faso 2-1 and advanced to the quarter-finals. Its current opponent is the home team, Ivory Coast. Ivory is the home team, but the better football side is Mali. I think that the regular time of the Mali-Ivory Coast match will end in a draw and the winner will be determined by the penalty shoot-out.
South Africa is one of the sides that played good football throughout the tournament. Yesterday they beat Morocco 2-0.
Morocco was the side with star players, but South Africa was the better side as a team.
The toughest match of the quarter-final will be between South Africa and Cape Verde. Cape Verde was a team that left its mark on the tournament. Perhaps this could be the best match of the tournament.
My favorite is South Africa.

Maybe them players from Angola are doing for money, Yeah I know it's a good way to boost and ginger up these players for the competition but these players if Nigeria are doing it for themselves knowing how well they deserve to be hounored as the best side in all of Africa and to be remembered how they won it regardless of the odds at stake.

I can't say anything bout Angola, but for Nigeria, they should make sure they keep the balance and manage the game very well come Friday. Key to winning this game has got to be the midfielder's. They have to link up the defenders and attackers.
We can boast of a good defense and the attack but the midfielder's hasyo be the weakest link, they control that and they'll certainly win.

Predictions for the super eagles Nigeria to Triumph regardless of whatever.

I must say Mali were quite lucky in their game yesterday. They tried their best to not repeat history of making it to round of 16 but not getting past it although they almost came close to doing it in the 88' . I really feel they are a team that can do better if they get their acts right. I watched the game last night and honestly, they played a very boring game. They weren't successful in their ball control and even their passes were ill timed. Believe me if they play like this against Ivory coast, they sure won't get this lucky. We saw how the Ivorian side battled with Senegal and showed them they still had it in them to go to the next stage, I feel Mali will be a walk in the park for them.

I don't even care if Angola are promised the highest amount of money in the world. One thing I know is that they won't win the Nigerian team come Friday. The super eagles knows what's is required of them. I can still remember many times super eagles were promised Money in the past to win a game, but in the end they will lose. Money don't win games.

I quite agree with you because if money can win why can't Saudi Arabia perform well and comparing the price for Saudi Arabia and Angola, Angola are promising nothing compared to what Saudi Arabia was promised in the world cup but still the fail, let the crown prince promise them all the money in the world, the players themselves no they can withstand the pressure of does big team, I know football is all about luck but still we can tell the strength of each team compare to other. I think this is an advantage to Nigeria because they will play with rest of mind, I know they will be desperate too but their desperation will not be like Angola that have started receiving the award, they will try by all means to please the givers of the award.

My concern is, I haven't watched Angola team playing during this AFCON tournament and I don't know how strong they are but I just checked their records now. From what I saw against their meeting with Nigeria, they have been tieing head with super eagle and the upcoming match will not be an easy one for both teams. Talking about the money promised them will definitely boost their spirit but it's not a new thing. Super eagles were also promise money and it doesn't guarantee positive results. Sometimes, this promises make the players to be very selfish just because they want to be celebrated and honored with gifts.

Nigeria has the potential to win that match if they can be focused and play as a team. The win against Cameroon was not just a luck and ordinary win but the players played with team spirit and determination. The only thing making me sad and uncomfortable is our goalie who's injured. I don't have confidence in Uzoho seeing how cheap he concedes goals previously. Hopefully, Nwabali will be fit before Friday. Regardless of who keep for super eagle, good luck is what we wish them.

AFCON still happens to remain unpredictable as we’ve seen quite some crazy surprises go down in this edition of Afcon. Most of the top teams and contenders for the title have all been shown the exit by teams that were considered underdogs. Now the AFCON just got started like I said when the Round of 16 fixtures came up. I’ll not blame Hakimi much because the pressure on him to convert that penalty was too much and luck wasn’t on his side. Southh Africa took clear cut their chances and got the seal winner after the Red Card.

And that’s one fun thing about the AFCON, You don’t have to ball to much, rather make sure to take your cchances early and quite fast and boom you’re off to a sailing lead and you’ll be thrashing out your opponents. Nigeria vs Angola is one match all eyes will be on amd if Nigeria succeed which I know they will, I’ll tip them to get the AFCON title home.

All these bounty promises to players is usually aimed at motivating them for a better performance but sadly at the end of the day the aim of this bounties most times are defeated because the psychology of these players become impacted and they turn out desperate because they are trying to make sure they win so they can claim such bounties so somehow, some level of pressure is been exacted on their mind and they may not be making tactical and rational decisions on the pitch so it will be better if they are motivated in another way than to distract them with all these promises.

The super eagles may see this as an advantage, knowing how desperate the Angola team will be at this point they should have a better tactical approach to face the desperation that will be exhibited by the Angola team, if the eagles capitalize on this I'm sure they will defeat Angola if only they have an improved version of their performance that they used against Cameroon.

Morocco were really shocking last night. I thought they would have a comfortable win but here we are now.  Sad  Hakimi took the penalty really badly and Amrabat shouldn't have pushed the last man unnecessarily. Maybe he wasn't going to be able to score one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the end. But Amrabat must have lost his concentration and couldn't think healthily there.

By the way isn't this offside line drawn wrong or am I just missing something? It looks like the Moroccan player's arm was taken into account.  Huh

Morocco really surprised me yesterday. Well this Afcon tournament has really been a shocker from the very beginning till this moment. It is possible that this tournament is going to produce a new champion who hasn't won the tournament in the past if we continue to see a shocking results going forward. Morocco was really one of the team I was projecting to win the tournament.

The tournament has really developed into a more exciting tournament than what it used to be. Games could easily have been predicted before now, but not anymore. We have seen spectacular free-kick goals, long range goals, games drawn into extra time and penalty kicks, games won in the final minutes of games, big teams defeated with their world class players, and also good officiating. The winner of this years AFCON is still not clear, there will still be upsets and shockers.

Ain't the arm a part of the body? As long as football is concerned and the use of VAR is valid, the Moroccan player is offside and well consider the fact that this ain't just the group stages anymore where leniency could be upheld.
The AFCON has gotten more interesting than before and betting now is riskier for those who have waited till this moment to start betting.

The winner of AFCON must have proven beyond reasonable doubt that they deserved it and am hoping the super Eagles get there to the finals and win possibly, without much injuries in the team.

Many surprises are many strong teams of seeded teams that many star players play in Europe fall and lose. the leading team of strong teams that many star players play in Europe is just Nigeria. of course, this time it is the top seed to win the African Cup this year.
I hope Nigeria will be the champion, no more surprises.
Since Nigeria has escaped quarter final to semi-final and the team they are playing in the semi-final are strong team and some of their wealthy people in the country has promised their players huge amount of money if they can be able to beat Nigeria to qualify for final.

Now that some strong teams has dropped out from the competition because, they lose to their opponent by mistake and there is a hope for Nigeria to beat Angola to wait for any team that will meet them for final which they are ready to lift the trophy.

You are completely wrong bud, Nigeria is meeting Angola in the quarter finals and not in the semi finals as thought by you, Nigeria beating Cameroon in their last encounter qualified Nigeria for the quarter finals and disqualified Cameroon, so, on Friday which the 2nd day of February, Nigeria will again play against Angola, which ever team wins in this match will qualify for the semi finals, and it did interest you to know that right now, there is no team in the semi finals yet.
Lets hope that the Nigerian players will equip themselves so well to face and beat Angola hands down, the same way they beat Cameroon, if they can qualify for the semi finals, then they have a chance at going to the finals.

Morocco and Mali are the two teams that I am suspecting to play the final. As for Nigeria I am not yet motivated though whenever they play I support them to win but not in the whole tournament. Because they might disappoint person with games. And Morocco would been the best team of the tournament but the way they are also playing is not encouraging like the way they did in the world cup. Cape Verde is one of the team that is coming up to challenge whoever comes to it way. That is another team I am also projecting to play the final.

From this round 16 games, the tournament is getting interesting the more. Most of the strong teams have been strike out from the tournament. Let's see what will happen Nigeria vs Angola match next month.

I have always said this edition of the AFCON is the year of the underdog but at the pace it's moving with the favourites like Senegal and Morocco crashing out, and the the the hosts from almost being sent home to knocking out the defending champions....I think this is scripted for ivory Coast to win it !!!!

You look at the remaining teams, and tell me if this story doesn't sound better with a host nation winning, otherwise they played with heart and with 2-3 games to go I think they will hang on and they can do it...

Other teams to watch out for, Cape Verde, Mali , Nigeria, South Africa.
From the last edition of AFCON i saw a Snippet of today's reality, where underdogs heavily trying to prove a point in the competition. Today it has manifested, the big names of African football are all almost gone except for just few that are remaining, the competition is really getting intense as unpredictable results are coming out everyday.
I don't believe it was scripted for ivory coast to win, they where just lucky, don't forget that they qualified from the group stage as best losers, even the game against Senegal, it was almost at the die minute they began to get involved in the game, before winning through penalties, however let us see how they will survive the next round of the competition.
