Ooo casperBGD, wresting top spot from me. I actually had 1 nil for both games, but changed Nigeria to 2 nil last night after some thought. Still. 2 correct outcomes ain't nothing to sniff at.

DR Congo. 4 draws in a row. Barely scraping it through from groups (but impressively against Morocco and Egypt). They will feel pleased for 3 goals.

I did enjoy the moment Super Eagles played bravely and dominated the game from start of whistle till the end.
Osimhen was very impressive in his air challenges and I wished he did have great dribbling prowess like Ibrahimovic and can take on defenders one on one.

Perhaps he was being more careful and did as coach asked him to, else, he was well fitted in his role as striker and made way when he needed to and that's what created the opportunity for Lookman to net in the ball from Simon once the  Angolan defender moved with Osimhen out of goal coverage.
and when they started the game I saw the Angola team dancing ahead to their victory that shit was hilarious and even with all the money they were promised all gone with all the excitement going on, I was actually impressed with the way Nigeria played at some point it was as if they were getting more ball possession than Nigeria and also their attack was becoming dangerous. and Osimhen did a great job in term of attack and even the second goal he scored I still do not believe that that ball is offside. but they tried but it did not work at the end of the day Nigeria still won the game and after tomorrow's game, Nigeria will know who they are playing against. and the young man is full of energy With the level thing there is hope that Nigeria might even win the AFCON, their level of commitment is high and that is what we need as a team and football has been something that has given us joy for a very long time. and when Osimhen was mistakenly kicked in the face I was hoping nothing would happen to him, if not the AFCON, will become challenging. nothing was actually wrong.

Dr Congo has defeated Guinea whereas Guinea scored a goal before  Dr Congo that is to say that Guinea has gone and Nigeria is facing Dr Congo and with system of Congo performance is like Nigeria will defeat them but immediately Nigeria fail to win for the first half it's obvious that the match may end with penalties and Nigeria will lose..if Nigeria continues to perform in this form they will win Congo, for the Angola match between Nigeria, its clear that Angola performance was quite alright and I believe what matters most is understanding, Nigeria team is not greedy to score they give pass to the person that is in right position to give, and that is why they have being wining all their matches

Great performance from Congo DR. They came back from one goal down and got a convincing win. They also scored some of the best goals in the tournament with Arthur Masuaku's 82nd-minute strike which is a beauty to behold. The semifinals will be a cracker because it seems the quality of these competing kept improving as it gets older. We might see more interesting games proving that African football is developing.

The best offside Player in the tournament is Victor James Osimhen. Has created a lot offside goals in the game. Even with all these goals and wins, I am not yet satisfied with Nigeria players. Though today goal was good but they have not really scored a goal that worth scoring except todays goal. Nigeria is going with luck and they might play the final. Angola possessed ball more than Nigeria even in the die minutes we saw it. Nigeria is always having the feeling that they can play more than the other teams and that is one of their problems to face others.

Osimhen has contributed a lot to the Nigerian team, hence I think he doesn't deserve to be addressed as an offside player. Without him, the Super Eagles would have been an ordinary team. He is the only difference Nigeria has with other teams. His name is a threat to any defender and he has also created some of the best assists in competition. Defenders focus on him which gives other players the chance of scoring.

Just like the Nigeria team at this stage who have employed every means,  but then left us already.

Nigeria indeed have hopes of actually winning this AFCON title, I mean it's been too long they even came out champions of Africa, one would think that as the most populous nation in Africa it would be a breeding ground for beautiful and wonderful talents but the big corruption in the football association won't let this size advantage to be used. The AFCON this year is looking more and more like it belongs to Nigeria because almost all the tournament favorites are out and with the way things are now it's very clear that Nigeria is actually the best team to win this.

Well that what was also the reasoning of those big top African nations that got kicked out of the competition so underestimating any team in this remaining matches would be the most foolish thing that they have done. Their is this one team that always catches my attention with their game play and for once they have proven that they do too have the capacity and also quality to win this year AFCON competition and that team is cape Verde.

Oh no. Nigeria is not playing Congo (at least not yet). Nigeria is playing whoever is the Victor of the Cape Vade vs South Africa game tomorrow. While Congo will face whoever wins the Mali vs Ivory Coast game. Defensively, Super Eagles have been the best team outright in this tournament. Of course, they'd still be tested time and time again in the semi finals and the finals if they go on to qualify for it.

It's one game at a time for now. No need to get ahead of ourselves now. Other team will have a had time dealing with Nigeria as well.
I just made a little research and got to find out its true Super Eagles won't be playing against Congo in the forthcoming Semi finals, but the Super Eagles will be playing with whichever country happens to emerge victory against "Mali vs Ivory Coast", while Congo will be playing with whichever country happens to emerge victory over "Cape Vade vs South Africa", just as shown in the image below.
But whichever team happens to play with the Super Eagles of Nigerian, I just pray let these boys not disappoint us when we need them the most, as I just can't wait to see the super Eagles come home with the trophy and $7 million.

If not for the referee's cancellation of Osinhem's goal in the second half because of offside committed, the match would have ended up with 2goals led by the Nigeria team and you would have had your prediction of 2 goals win for the Super Eagles come to pass.

During the start of the second half, many people had predicted the Super Eagle to win by 2 goals because of their performance in the field of play to score additional goals. But since the match ended with a goal victory for the Super Eagle, it is a better result for them than a loss match.

The AFCON this year is looking more and more like it belongs to Nigeria because almost all the tournament favorites are out and with the way things are now it's very clear that Nigeria is actually the best team to win this.

To be honest, since the group stage I doubted that Nigeria could go further but it turns out I was wrong now Nigeria has successfully advanced to the semi-finals and waiting for the winner between Mali vs Ivory Coast. When compared to the teams that will go to the semi-finals, it seems that Nigeria has a bigger chance of winning and South Africa is a worthy opponent for them in the final imo.

This year Ademola Lookman played an important role in every Nigeria game, so far he has scored 3 goals and is the main candidate as top scorer in this tournament because 2 other players on the top scorer list have been kicked out. Ademola Lookman only needs 2 more goals to win the golden boot, I'm sure he'll get it through another 2-3 games. My prediction is that Nigeria and South Africa will be in the final, what do you think?

The best offside Player in the tournament is Victor James Osimhen. Has created a lot offside goals in the game. Even with all these goals and wins, I am not yet satisfied with Nigeria players. Though today goal was good but they have not really scored a goal that worth scoring except todays goal. Nigeria is going with luck and they might play the final. Angola possessed ball more than Nigeria even in the die minutes we saw it. Nigeria is always having the feeling that they can play more than the other teams and that is one of their problems to face others.

I don’t entirely believe in your statement that Nigeria is going with luck, they played a good game today and won the game. Only what I noticed with them in all games was that they create a lot of chances but don’t convert most of them to goals which could back fire for them later in some matches if care is not taken. Where praises is suppose to be given should be given, even the Angolans knew Nigeria outplayed them today and today’s victory was a well deserved one for the Nigerian team. About Osimehn’s offside goals, he keeps giving them that pressure as a striker, it doesn’t matter if he scores the final goal, but even his presence in the team is a threat to the opponents defenders and he uses well to the teams advantage always.

Dr. Congo's team did very well in the last minutes of the game because it was indeed a narrow escape and a good use of the opportunity that presented itself in the last minute of the game where the condo team was able to add an extra 2 goals that made to match to end but at the same time,  the victory is worth to be celebrated.

In this game, DR Congo made use of their opportunities well and that was what gave them a win with two goals more than their opponents. Not that Guinea’s game today was bad but they couldn’t create more chances as Congo created and the ones created by the Congo team was easily converted to goal. The match was full of actions but at the end the better team won the match ahead of their opponent with two goals.

Dr. Congo's team did very well in the last minutes of the game because it was indeed a narrow escape and a good use of the opportunity that presented itself in the last minute of the game where the condo team was able to add an extra 2 goals that made to match to end but at the same time,  the victory is worth to be celebrated.

Just like the Nigeria team at this stage who have employed every means,  but then left us already.

Nigerian Super Eagles came out with full force today even though it was one goal to none but the job that was done by the players is recognized by every other person in the world.

Lookman is one striker that I would appreciate even after this tournament because of the performance he's shown in today's match and in the previous matches. I also enjoy the way that Moses Simon controlled the ball and push it to then cross-pass it to lookman for the final finishing in the 18 yard box. This is what it means to have a great teamwork and plan ahead of every opportunity that you are dealing with as it team.

Victor osimhen have also tried his best in the first half to score goals but they were unsuccessful, some of which includes the headings in the first half which did not go through but all of those heats contributed to the access they got over the opponents and was much easier for them to penetrate.

Angola on the other side did great job for not giving up to the last minute of the game. That is the kind of team that I enjoy watching their football because if you have a team that are not giving up to the tail end of a match, then it means that if they would have more minutes to strike more, they could have opportunity to really make up. Overall, they did well too I must recognise them.

It was really a well deserved victory for the Nigerian team, even though the Angolan team gave them a good fight in the encounter between them.

Their were few players in the Nigerian team that were really poor performance wise, players like ajayi and sanusi, but the good thing is that the other good player around them cover up for them very well and I see this Nigerian team going all the way because at this point now and what has happened in the tournament so far, it's only ivory coast I see as a threat to Nigeria not winning this one.

I missed it, I thought the Nigeria-Ivory Coast final was possible. But on the other hand, if Nigeria defeats Ivory Coast first and then Congo in the final, it will not be the easiest path and a well-deserved championship.
It is noteworthy that Nigeria had already beaten Ivory Coast in the group stage 1-0, and as I remember at major tournaments (I mean the final part) it rarely happens that one team beats the other two times in a row. So from this point of view, we must either wait for Mali to win or for Nigeria to lose in the semi-finals.

I was just hearing so much excitement all over my neighborhood after the end of the game, and honestly I felt somehow. Nigerians rejoicing that we beat a small country like Angola? Then what if Senegal had stayed, maybe we'd have thrown a feast then if we had won them!

What are you trying to say? That Angola is a small team or what? Because I don't get your point clearly when you said you felt somehow with the way people are rejoicing. If that's what you mean, I will refer you to check the history and record of previous encounter between Angola and Nigeria and you'll discover that the win deserves every celebration. Angola is not a small team and it's very obvious in yesterday's performance because they dominate the possession and made some dangerous attacks but eagle's defenders were solid and the keeper was very smart too. You are also countering yourself because you want them to play without underrating any team but you see the winning celebration too much. Angola stopped Nigeria from qualifying to 2006 world cup and I see their yesterday's defeat as a payback from super eagle since that's the highest they've come so far in AFCON tournament. There's a long way to go because Ivory coast, South Africa and Mali are still in the tournament.

Nigeria will play anybody that qualifies between South Africa and Cape Verde, not Ivory Coast or Mali.

In your defense, if Nigeria hadn't improved from how they played in the first 2 matches they wouldn't have gotten this far. Nigeria was horrible in the first two matches of the group stage but they improved against Cameroon and they player even better Angola. They seemed to get better with more games. Now they're looking like a big favorite.
Either of South Africa or Cape Verde is going to be a big test for them, but with how they played against Angola, they stand a higher chance.
Meeting Ivory Coast in the final too would be a very tough one. Ivory Coast is better than how they were in the group stage, plus they will have more support since they're at home.

This year Ademola Lookman played an important role in every Nigeria game, so far he has scored 3 goals and is the main candidate as top scorer in this tournament

Nigeria are very lucky to have Lookman. He's a hard worker and he knows how to help the midfield and defense. He adds a lot to that Nigerian team.

Quite trickish, that many and including myself anticipated Nigeria - Ivory coast finals. This is because they seem to be the biggest names that has not exited the tournament. But it is unfortunate that these big names cannot meet in the finals, one has to bow for the other.

You have a very good insight here and unfortunately many doesn't see it that way. Considering the circumstances at which Ivory coast qualified from the group stage, I knew they will be deadly. That was why I said that the only country that can eliminate Senegal was Ivory coast and they did it and their strength was the group poor performance and the hosting power.

Well this is a tournament and the Super Eagles don’t need hige scoreline to go through stages of this tournament. What’s needed is the format the coach has been able to employ which is to defend and then get one goal and try to secure it. The coach understands this and luckily for him the players understands too and are playing according to pattern and it’s gotten them to the semis. And yes the victory is worth celebrating because Angola haven’t been a bad side in this AFCON and every feat attained should be celebrated as it helps to boost the confidence of the players that the fans are happy with them and standing right beside them.

Stanley Nwabali has been solid in goal for Nigeria and I think after this AFCON, some European clubs will bid for him. The guy has had 4 clean sheets  in 5 matcehs and we must also praise the defense line who have remained a huge fence to break down as wee see how the midfielders fall back to help the defense when they’re being attacked. Kudos to Nigeria, we hope to see them bring the trophy home.

I think the arrangement is right, the winner between Mali vs Ivory Coast will face Nigeria in the semi -finals and the winner between Cape Verde vs South Africa will face Congo this means that the final between Nigeria and Ivory Coast will never happen. My prediction of the final match will occur between Nigeria v South Africa I saw it based on the performance of each team in the last match. Congo may have hope to the final if they can draw against South Africa which must be completed through penalties shoot, this scenario occurs when South Africa win today.

Before this match, I took a look at the previous meeting of both teams, I concluded that Nigeria is going to win that match, despite that their opponent is a strong side too as far as this competition is concerned, as for the goal scored, I will tell you for free that what every team needs in a match is a goal for the 3point to be theirs, though I wasn't much surprise for the winning but I knew that it wouldn't be a work over for Nigeria, I like the team work, Nigeria players performance deserve kudos, in the next match we expect more of what we got.
