Those logos look stupid, likely why they didn't win. First one looks like a police badge. Seconds set looks like a superhero logo. We then invited input from marketing specialists, advertisers, graphic designers, and brand experts, from various industries and various parts of the world.
Still came up with a logo looking like a kids toy brand. Most of the 99designs have been deleted now and the remaining ones are nothing to talk about. I found some designs digging up our own forum contest. These designs actually describe Monero in a graphical manner. These should have been used as an inspiration. All of the "shield" looking logos were rejected not only for being cliche but also because Monero's privacy aspects should not be viewed as a "feature," but as an inherent property that should be fundamental to any currency.
However, you should feel free to use whatever logo you want. Monero is not a company, and the core team is not a central authority responsible for branding any site or service other than the ones they create.
I see the logo more as an emblem or symbol (like the $ sign or the btc sign) with colors that can be changed at will.
If you want a different logo/symbol, then create it and see if other people start using it.

Monero is not a shitcoin because it has superior privacy than Bitcoin. It is ONLY the privacy feature that sets Monero apart from bitcoin. Otherwise nobody would be talking about it here. Everybody came here for this feature |

+1 I did not say the logos are good, i said inspiration could have been taken. Again, inspiration can still be taken. This is not a company. Make a logo you think is better and get people to start using it. It is your currency. Don't sit around waiting for the core team to put their seal of approval on everything, because it's ultimately you who decides. |

Monero is not a shitcoin because it has superior privacy than Bitcoin. It is ONLY the privacy feature that sets Monero apart from bitcoin. Otherwise nobody would be talking about it here. Everybody came here for this feature Monero has a number of improvements over bitcoin that have nothing to do with privacy. Adaptable size limits, per-block reward adjustments (as opposed to "halving"), minimum block subsidies for network security, are a few examples. Monero is just one of many coins that "features" privacy (in some form)... privacy is fundamental, and Monero's not a one-trick pony that's gonna jump on the bandwagon and slap on some stupid shield logo so everybody can see that's what makes it special. But again, if you disagree, then whip something up that knocks everyone's socks off. |

Yes good, but what about the average user? Is he knowledgeable enough to appreciate these advancements. Most people i told bitcoin about told me they dont trust any company for their money  The average joe will never be interested in whats under the hood. I say our best bet is to project Monero as an anonymous currency. This is how it differentiates us from Bitcoin |

It is confirmed that at least 150,000 XMR is net bought by the ones who heard the approx 60 seconds of my talk. So yes, just imagine what would have happened if it were slick....  |

Is anybody interested in changing the current Monero logo. Imo it looks too cartoonish for such superior tech. It should be edgy and sharp. Marketing and image need to taken seriously. Lets hold a contest
i'd be interested to see what is created, but IIRC, the current logo was professionally designed and effectively stands out from the others. I think what is more important is to get the equivalent of BTC goin. an M with a horizontal line thru it? +1, a currency symbol is much more important than redesign an already good logo. |
