V2 which heavily improves on V1. And then it's game over.

Actually that's fine. The world benefits if V2 really does heavily improve on V1. A warning though. Sometimes its Windows 8 and does not improve on Windows 7 just because the version number has been incremented. It has to stand on its own merit.

As far as putting them in the box, that is not the case at all. This coin is an entirely volunteer effort. There are no owners or bosses here. Whoever delivers good work that others view as worth following is effectively in charge. That could be the bytecoin developers if they choose. In reality it looks like most of them have just moved on for whatever reason (perhaps life changes or other interests, one can only guess) and only a small subset or offshoot was behind the premine scam coin. It's largely abandonware at this point. Again given their apparent preference for secrecy we can only guess at the true reasons. I'm told, by the way, that bytecoin was not the original name of the coin, and that label was added recently, further suggesting some sort of split or offshoot. I can't yet confirm this.

No one will stand in the way of good work. If the intent however, is to pull off a hidden premine scam (and/or hidden de-optimzied miner scam), well we all see how that turned out. Probably worked in several well-known cases in 2013. Does not and won't work any more.

But it seems like you have contact with them ... because you have a clear understanding of what they want.

When you have 80% premine, it's fairly evident what they want: money. And if MRO takes their money by making BCN irrelevant, guess what they'll do next. Use their tech know-how to reclaim their "rightful" place, reducing the greed factor that was proven a weakness in the first stage, providing cryptoland with an improved product. It might take weeks or months, but they could make big money out of it - especially if they first dump their BCNs and then move to BCN 2.0 (named something different of course).

That's actually fine with me. If they want to return with an improved product without the scam launch, more power to them. If they want to focus their work on improving Monero, that's fine too. There was no premine or other launch scam here; none of us has any huge financial interest in it. As I said, the world benefits if they deliver something useful, with a healthy business model.

It is highly believable. No one attacks an unsuccessful coin.

You have no idea how influential you have been to the success of this coin. You are a great ambassador for MRO and one of the reasons why I chose to mine MRO during the early days (and I still do, but alas no soup for about 5 days now).

I tried BCN, deleted when I had to download a 1.5GB bootstrap for the blockchain at launch. Scam, they could have started it off fresh.

Your logic does not follow suit though. Auroracoin was totally mined like that and their intent was to distribute the money to the people. To say that BCN wants only money is just speculation. We don't know that they haven't tried to set up some kind of airdrop, we haven't been told anything other than that it's not for a pump and dump (this is posted by Dstrange in the BCN thread).

Actually, with that in mind I'd think it to be the exact opposite of what they want.

They are welcome to try and "claim their place", but again ... we don't have any Satoshi Nakamoto axe hanging over our heads. No one person or small group has all of the coins here. That's one of the pillars of this coins existence.

As far as the price goes ... that's far beyond you and me. That is something the free market will decide Smiley

Luckily, it's already gotten a fair comparison with both cryptonote.to exchange and Poloniex adding both coins to their exchanges.

If they win a short term marketcap game, that's fine. We're here to build a protocol, without Satoshi.

And no one knows the pain of FUD more than Darkcoin community trust me. It is just a few folks getting worked up for nothing. A few days ago some MRO trolls were crapping on DRK thread (before MRO boomed) and I had warned them there not to do it either.

Why does Monero exist ? I think that keyboard-mashed justified beautifully the existence of Monero to the founders of the Cryptonote technology. It can be seen here: https://forum.cryptonote.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=162#p520

To sum it up : constant communication, transparency and the means towards mass adoption

Hardly. I'm not in here calling "pump and dump". I'm a supporter of digital currencies becoming more private. I want to go LT with cutting-edge coins but I honestly can't see anything unique from the team here.

Happy to be proved wrong but as I see it, this coin is vulnerable to other competitors adding cryptonote. I'm just looking for answers.

You wouldnt even be able to mine any cryptonote coin at a decent speed if it werent for the devs of Moreno LOL ! But the main thing they delivered was the creation of a community.

You are a little too caught up in the mindset of altcoin marketing wars about "unique features" and "the team" behind the latest pump and dump scam.

In fact this coin is really little more than BCN without the premine. "The team" is anyone who contributes code, which includes anyone contributing code to the BCN repository, because that will get merged as well (and vice-versa).

Focus on the technology (by all accounts amazing) and the fact that it was launched in a clean way without 80% of the total world supply of the coin getting hidden away "somewhere." That is the unique proposition here. There also happens to be a very good team behind the coin, but anyone trying too hard to market on the basis of some "special" features, team, or developer is selling you something. Hold on to your wallet.

Personally I found it refreshing that Monero took off WITHOUT a logo or a gui wallet, it means the team wasn't hyping a slick marketing package and is concentrating on the coin/note itself.

XLB and DRM seduced people with some fancy graphics and BS and look where they are now.

I don't think I seem hung up on anything. I can see through P&D scams. I'm asking what's in the works for development - technology, merchant adoption, etc? Is there anything unique in the works here or is it vulnerable to some other coin coming along?

This is only a month old. A clean launch isn't enough to ensure success at this point.
