Error: failed to load wallet: invalid password

I can't remember setting a password for the wallet, tried all my pws. It is an "old"
bitmonero wallet with 100 coins (last updated on 2014-04-29), perhaps not compatible with monero? Or did I just lose my password?

Bumping this cause I had (have) the same problem. I'm absolutely positive I did not set a password for my wallet but it will not reopen. I mentioned it earlier in this thread but there was no reply, but now I'm thinking maybe I'm not alone. Really not sure what's happening and it's not a big deal for me personally since I didn't have many coins in my wallet, but still it is pretty frustrating.

The wallet is as good as gone. Sorry guys.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Does each core from one CPU collaborate together on hashing or each core work on their own for solo mining?

Each thread/core works on its own. For example, it is fine to use multiple instances of simpleminer (a single threaded application), up to one for each hardware thread.

ohh Sh#$# i have 24 phisical cores an runing only a simpleminer instance

You might want to get on that, My 24 is pushing about 400h/s

OP is just a shared account with the password known by multiple people so that any of them can update it as necessary. The main developers are tacotime, smooth, NoodleDoodle. Some needs are being contracted out, including zone117x, LucasJones, and archit for the pool, another person for a Qt GUI, and another person independently looking at the code for bugs.

Can someone explain the HUGE increase in difficulty since the coin was added to Poloniex.  The difficulty went from 275 to 108,019,043 in a little over a day!!  How is that possible?  The normal excuse is, "ooh well interest was sparked and we added new miners".  You added 392,796 times more miners in a little over a day?!? This coins isn't the easiest to mine and you're average miner is running crap CPUs because they are focused on GPU mining.  This is the type of growth you see with GPU.

I'm really interested in the coin but this explosive growth is really bothersome.  I'd like to get some feedback.

Block 47385: http://monerochain.info/block/34abb6e069c484b0460456398884ec2350573a2933478f444b1c7e614c76bf14

Difficulty: 49,767,061

That pool site is probably logging test network blocks, which would correspond to a separate chain, not the main Monero chain.

I was referring to your past blocks. You clearly did prior to block 47467, since it contradicts monerochain.info. It's better to remove them.

I'm really interested in the coin but this explosive growth is really bothersome.  I'd like to get some feedback.

That pool site is probably logging test network blocks, which would correspond to a separate chain, not the main Monero chain.

All the pools are reporting similar stats except they haven't found blocks in a while.  The one I linked had more results.  That's why I linked it.

As I explained, they were testing those pools on a test network with a handful of CPUs. You're welcome to load the daemon and print out blockchain data yourself to check the difficulty on the main chain. Here's the data: http://monerochain.info/charts/difficulty

No discontinuity.

Ok so is it normal to expect an i7-4930k (high end $500 CPU) to mine only .1447 MRO in over a day?

So based off that link the CPU power doubled in this amount of time not 392,796 times

No, your pool is unlucky. On average you'd expect something like 2 MRO per day. Yes, the CPU power did double over a single day.
