How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years?

Exactly we cannot judge what will be the price after 20 years, so we should make efforts in collecting as much coins possible at a moment, so even if price is not too high, more number of coins will take care of us.

if you are in doubt about the price after 20 years later, you better keep looking as much profit as possible and convert at any time to fiat, so that in 20 years you'll have a lot of savings. so do not worry if the price is low bitcoin.
but I believe that at least bitcoin price will be above $ 1,000 after 20 years later, so collect bitcoin as much as possible and sell after 20 years later, it could be a good idea.

how many btc you need? I think 10 btc yearly is a great sum but did you have an house? any other income?
Because at least 500 btc actually you need up to your rest of life, with an increase like this one you can retire with only 20 btc and make a great life.
So or you wait up to 20k$ increase or just earn at least 500 btc

Even on $4000 seems unrealistic and its hard for bitcoin to reach that price soon. How much more in $500k then its  very very imposible to happen. As  other said we wouldnt even know if bitcoin would last to for so long that it could rich some  moon amount.

Are you kidding me? Do you know what you are talking about? 1000 btc is insane and not almost impossible for anyone to hold that high amount, even if you manage to have 50 btc then you should be satisfied.

20 years is very long time and i think you will need more that 200-500 bitcoins for retire in the next 20 years and you can reach it by earning bitcoins or buying bitcoins from now.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

I can't suggest any amount it depends on how much the bitcoin price that time how about the price of bitcoin decrease to 1$ 20 years from now so you need more btc to have more comfortable in life.  or increase morethan 2000$ so you just need some amount of btc, risk is always there no one really knows what is the price at that time.

   For 20 years from now is very hard to say, I'm very confused when I think about bitcoin future. Literally anything can happen, and bitcoins can worth a fortune like many people say it will. In that case even with couple coins, or maybe 10, 20 coins you will have good money in your bank account.
   Scenario where bitcoin price stay the same like now, or go down you will need 100 or more. Answer on this question depends from country you live in. Somewhere 50 000 dollars are enough, on some places 500 000 $ is little,  people have different thinking about their retirement.

To double every year would be similar growth to bacteria, exponential and unrelenting as if it had no competition or flaws.   Doubling every other year would fit better as this is the general growth of technology and has been for decades.

Really when its price we dont know as it relies on demand and extension of the network to allow spending also.   The more people that use bitcoin, the larger amount holding it between them and not just converting back to dollars.   Simply holding and doing nothing is not a substitute as this wont help the demand.   
We have world population growth, its not doubling but in theory bitcoin could double as so many do not use bitcoin now.   It cant do that for 20 years though or it will exceed the world population by then.   The maths is 2^20 or current bitcoin user base times 1 million.  That'd take a user base now of 6,000 to 6 billion in 20 years and we already got more then 6,000

So if demand isnt rising that fast, I doubt price will

That's not what everyone is thinking here dude, we believe that bitcoin will exist even for more than 50 years, the system is really great and it can compete with the new technology and for me this the currency of the new generation to come.

Yeah bitcoin is still very young and once it gets older it will be more powerful and will hold very higher price but not sure what exactly its price will be so try to collect as much as you can.

but saving is good for future.. if someone is not believe on bitcoin then he should save in fiat.

Bitcoin will be only replaced by any other crypto if its holding more features in compare to bitcoins and I don't think it will  happen soon it will take really long time it to happen.
