It seems there's an issue with last release for some people that got triggered today.

For all those having a crashing issue PLEASE FALL BACK TO THE LAST VERSION it's fully compatible

http://www.mediafire.com/download/lo8aiy2bkd1cwqb/silkcoin-qt-1.0.7.zip

We just managed to reproduce the problem and it will be fixed asap.

Please holders

The real value of coin comes from
" wildly decenterized p2p secure network"
If dev want to use this blockchain to do something
pow is really needed

Don't look the 'now price'
and think what make the coin have
'real' value !

and wait next notification from devs
I also see their next step

Thanks, we're really feeling bad about this, it was a stupid mistake in the code.. Even if of course there's no implications else than no being able to open the last version wallet.

We'll try to get the compile ready asap because even if it's minor we can't wait for the new version on thursday to fix this.

Problem is already fixed on GitHub if you can compile your version go for it!
Else you'll have to wait a few hours for the compiles they are on the way.

Also to answer the question above, that was the main thing we wanted to achieve : stay on POS and be able to support this network.
You'll get more details about all this very soon Smiley but the addition of p2p makes it possible since most data don't have to be stored on the blockchain.

Edit : last thing, don't mistake yourself I've seen this assumption many times in this post we're not building a network like TOR but more like a social network where you can only see what your friends posts/do it's completly different and it's why it will work

I had the same crash on start on 1.0.8.  If the internet is disabled at start it launches.  Then when I turned on internet it connected... just fyi

Is it just me or there isn't much communication coming form the dev, anything interesting?

It's definitely you. The silkcoin dev team is by far the most active/responsive dev team ive seen to date. They are doing an amazing job with everything.

Was the problem with Bittrex api or something?

Yea the dev in charge of this part (he already got yelled at hehe) didn't take in account the api may change for the order history (lazy dev, because he took that in account for buy/sell orders..) and since it changed this morning giving 50 max transaction history instead of 100 the array do not have 100 items anymore but 50. Very easy fix : change the 100 to lenght() and it's already fixed on the github.

Sorry to repeat myself but like this everyone can see the news :

If your wallet crashes revert to http://www.mediafire.com/download/lo8aiy2bkd1cwqb/silkcoin-qt-1.0.7.zip or compile the new version on github or wait on the compiles coming in a few hours.

And the next release is still planned to come out Thursday, maximum Friday.

Edit :
- Linux fix is compiled : http://www.mediafire.com/download/l60y00asa5t5fr1/silkcoin-qt-fix
- Windows will come soon & Mac is not affected

This is why you want real developers and not cut/paste code junkies.  Smiley Well done!

Everyone when you have a chance, take a look at our new introductory video into SilkCoin

Introducing Operation Shock & Awe

What is Operation Shock & Awe?

Operation Shock & Awe is the internal name for a social initiative spearheaded through a series of giveaways from various outlets. The aim of operation shock and awe is to do a blitz of SilkCoin and get as many people as possible to hear about SilkCoin, download our wallet, learn about our features and in the process get listed on further exchanges.

How will Operation Shock & Awe work?

Operation Shock & Awe is a 2-part initiative.

Part 1, which is currently underway and will continue all the way through to the 2nd PoW phase, will be used to spread the word around about SilkCoin and in turn get listed on MintPal. This will provide us some stability and foundation going through to the 2nd PoW phase.

Part 2, which will collerate with the start of the 2nd Pow phase, will be a full on social media blitz to get as many people as possible to hear about SilkCoin. We already have some big crypto names in social media lined up ready for part 2. The names of these social media accounts will be anounced at the start of part 2.

Who are the current participants on Part 1?

All Crypto All Day
CryptoSandwich

Between the 2 above Twitter accounts, they have a following of over 36 000 people. SilkCoin will be tweeted about daily to each of these 36 000 followers.

CryptoSandwich is in charge of our MintPal voting campaign that can be found here : http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=541.0

Each voter will receive 15 SC per vote. There are additional prizes which include a 15 000 SC grand prize to the person who votes the most along with 2 500 SC prizes each for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place voters

What can I do to help?

1. Vote for us on MintPal and post here : http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=541.0 to claim your 15 SC rewards
2. Retweet this : https://twitter.com/CryptoSandwich/status/470789069430333443 with the handle #silkcoin
3. Retweet all #silkcoin tweets from All Crypto All Day
4. Tweet what you like most about Silkcoin with the handle #silkcoin

*This is the first of many announcements to come.

Why don't we reduce block reward to 1000?

First PoW was 10000 blocks / 30 million coins (5000 block reward)

Second Pow is 10000 blocks, 1000 Block reward. That means 30 million / (5000/1000) = 6 Million extra coins.

@ 1000 Satoshis, that means 60BTC of volume....

LOL @ 1000 Satoshis Wink  I did notice the price dropped @ Poloniex but have you seen how less coins there are to buy?

With "only" 2,5 BTC you could have the price at 2000 Sat, so it seems only logical to me the price will go higher!
