Is there a spv wallet for namecoin?
Something like bitcoinj?
BitcoinJ has been ported: ConsensusJ-Namecoin. It is in the beta stage. The last release is from April. Look at the last page - there we talked a bit about Electrum-NMC, which would be another option. However, it is even at an earlier development stage and if you don't know exactly what you do you probably shouldn't use it for "real coins". The problem is that your wallet is not sync'd to the blockchain (not connected, as you stated). You may want to ask some questions in the Electrum forum. |

If you get look the coinmarketcap you will find Namecoin in the category of bitcoin at its beginning and at the present moment with just a few corrections and updates this currency is entitled in the top 10 of the market. |

The Namecoin community is too small nowadays, so even before the halving day the Namecoin is forgotten. |

Namecoin is not a sidechain, but it is merged mined with bitcoin. Look at this tweet for an overview of the hashrate:
I was under that impression from biolizard's comment here https://www.reddit.com/r/Namecoin/comments/8u9a4x/namecoin_sidechain_concept/ but it would be ideal with its algo and merged mining stats. Yeah I remember looking at namecoin ages back and it was something like 45% of bitcoin hashrate.Distribution looked okay too. |
