NMC at all time low..interesting to see what will happen next.

The all-time low happened over a year ago (April 14th, 2015) at $0.29 per NMC¹. It seems to me that some whales keep the NMC and PPC prices within the $0.30 to $0.50 range. That way both have become two reliable investment alternatives besides BTC and LTC, with code matured and hardened for over 5 years. No DAO surprises ;-)

¹For Namecoin, NMC/USD is the dominant trading pair at btc-e, not NMC/BTC.

Yes you are right, I traded NMC/BTC pair, thats why I mentioned it. Anyway NMC and PPC seems like a really good mid long term investment.

Quick heads up to any miners:  Softfork voting on BIP65 (version=4 blocks) is in the "enforce" state now - 88% of the hashrate indicates readiness.  At 95%, any blocks found by not-yet-upgraded miners will be invalidated - so try to update as soon as possible to a current version.

If you do not want to try out the "bleeding edge", you can use the current release candidate tagged as "nc0.12.0rc2": https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-core/releases/tag/nc0.12.0rc2  It is signed by my GPG key as well.  If you want to use somewhat fresher code, you can follow the 0.13 branch.

It is what I've been implementing for the last almost two years - and what is already strongly recommended for everyone to use and all miners use.  But yes, I also think that Namecoin has a lot more real development than most other coins.

Getting seriously dumped by the looks of things.Question is not how high can it go but maybe how low will it go?Maybe namecoin need to restructure its economic model and make some other ideas.Look at that crap being developed by waves and all the money raised through an ICO.If the likes of these developers who work on the namecoin project wanted to raise funds for new developments surely people would rush to buy into it but maybe that is something people here dont want to hear.Development costs money at the end of the day.

It uses the same address structure as Bitcoin so you can just use VanityGen to get a public/private key and write down the private key.

I think that we should head towards making an official release relatively soon, given that we haven't in quite some time. Bitcoin Core 0.13 is out, and I've just tagged a 0.13 Namecoin Core release candidate based on that release:

It includes the code to temporarily disable the low-S-signature check, so that miners/clients with this version are able to fully relay and mine transactions created by the legacy 0.3.80 client. This will go away with the next version, but is a good compromise to keep supporting the client just a little longer before the last users can finally migrate.

The release candidate does not yet include a UI for managing names, but once the pull request is fully completed and merged, we can release a follow-up 0.13.1 or so.

All feedback is very welcome - testing, building binaries, comments on what we still need for the final release, and so on!
