I registered an amazing 3 letter .bit domain last month. I was really surprised it was available, someone must have slipped up and let it expire!

I'm going to be keeping it forever since they are cheap to renew and possibly using it for a zeronet site.

Cool that good names are still out there available ... which one was it if you don't mind me asking?

xyz.bit

has a nice ring to it I think.

Namecoin (NMC) is primed for a major price increase.

Only 14.7 million NMC coin supply.
Over 1085+ btc volume on www.Poloniex.com

Much lower price than recently pumped DASH 6 million satoshi and ETH 2 million satoshi

NMC 59-60k satoshi (one of the early crypto coins, rank in top 30 coins)

This is not even floating price range for namecoin. It should be .003-.005 range for now and then upwards to .01 at least. For project to raise funds it should be self funding in better way and developers should have bigger mining pool interest. That way no more problems with funding issue.

The low volume low price opportunity to buy at the bottom should be closed off by market makers. This is not manipulation it is basic common sense.

You are this wise - you must be rich - and a market maker.

I've been accumulating NMC from 0.3USD all the way down to 0.18USD. I collected around 4,000NMC. Not a life changing amount USD wise, but imo NMC is the most undervalued and easily accessible asset on planet earth (don't have access to interplanetary assets information)

Here is what I think could boost the price and usage:

1. More Exchanges adoption (Finex, Kraken, Gdax)

2. Ledger Wallet integration

3. More contributions to the client app

No news, but ghrow was be. Hmmm

Someone mentioned it was added to some sort of alt19 fund of alts. Or something like that.

I just wish I could add a plugin to my browser to start accessing .bit domains. Something as simple as that.

People look up Bitcoin address balances on blockchain.info, why would it be difficult to do the same for .bit IP addresses the same way? Then map it to a plugin.

ICANN has invited a Namecoin developer to speak at the ICANN58 meeting on March 11-16 2017 in Copenhagen and Mr Jeremy Rand will attend.[ICANN panel report]favorably mentioned namecoin.

More discourse here: https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin.org/commit/00a1e211e647d482fb31aecfd15f6740734ee15d

Its honor to be part of Namecoin! Let be honest, I'm very excited for ICANN, also what deals it make with NMC and that they got intrested in namecoin from beginning. You been keeping up the good work and development of the project for very long and as we know hard work allways pays out Smiley. I wish NMC dev best luck from my heart, keep it up!

You don't even need to build a new plugin, you just need to configure FoxyProxy plugin with the right settings .... I built something like that in 2011. There are other Namecoin specific plugins out there now I think.

Zeronet is giving a presentation @ TED2017

This should give quite a bit of positive exposure for Namecoin and .bit

NMC under $1 is a hell of a deal IMO

Question: How many NMC have been burned for domain registration to date?

Question: How many NMC have been burned for domain registration to date?
There are nearly 10,000,000 name_new transactions on the blockchain. One single name_new tx burns 0.01 NMC. Therefore around 100,000 NMC have been burned.

Technically speaking these 100kNMC haven't been burned, they are just inaccessible. If we ever run out of NMCs because of a future large-scale usage of Namecoin we could do a hard fork and purge all the expired, abandoned, unused or erroneously issued name_new transactions. This would release those inaccessible NMCs to be reused. A hard fork requires the approval of the miners/mining pools, though.

There are nearly 10,000,000 name_new transactions on the blockchain. One single name_new tx burns 0.01 NMC. Therefore around 100,000 NMC have been burned.

In the early days, name registrations had to actually burn a lot more coins (IIRC up to 50), so the real number is probably higher - but I have no number by how much.

If we ever run out (which I doubt will happen and I'm pretty sure you don't think so either), we could also just hard fork to increase the block reward.  That would have the same effect and might be a simpler solution; but anyway, that's not going to happen. Wink
