Wouldn't there be a way for someone to set up a server that acts as a DNS that includes namecoin domains?
Then you just point your computer DNS to that computer...what am I missing here?

Nothing. Those have existed from very early on in namecoin. Bridges they were called for a while. |

The .bit bridge at OpenNIC is alive and kicking. Go to http://opennicproject.org/ and pick an IP for your PC's DNS setting. You should be aware of the privacy and centralization issues of this method, though. Then try nx.bit, arm.bit, veclabs.bit, etc. (your browser may need a "http://" in front of the URL, otherwise it could interpret the input as a search engine request). will never be available to the common person as simply a dot bit unless someone were to spend the $100K It would be much more efficient if someone spends $30k for the development of a blockchain-read-only .bit resolver for Android. biolizard89 recently mentioned BitcoinJ as a good starting point, see https://forum.namecoin.info/viewtopic.php?p=16473#p16473 |

Looks like NMC is getting delisted from Kraken exchange by the end of this week. Thanks to Kraken's buggy XBT/NMC GUI hardly anyone bothered messing about with work-arounds just to be able to trade NMCs at Kraken. I was actually thinking about developing a simple open-source UI as a replacement. Unfortunately their Terms of Service explicitly prohibit this and I therefore had to abandon this idea. The strange thing is that they later got everything right when adding the ETH/XBT pair. They then could have easily copy-pasted the ETH GUI to the NMC GUI and >>>vrooooom!>>> catapult their NMC trading volume towards btc-e dimensions (i.e. increase by a factor of 100 to 1000). |

The all-time low happened over a year ago (April 14th, 2015) at $0.29 per NMC 1. It seems to me that some whales keep the NMC and PPC prices within the $0.30 to $0.50 range. That way both have become two reliable investment alternatives besides BTC and LTC, with code matured and hardened for over 5 years. No DAO surprises ;-) 1For Namecoin, NMC/USD is the dominant trading pair at btc-e, not NMC/BTC. |
