The problem of Namecoin is that it's barely used - because almost nobody will be able to connect to .bit domains. The centralized DNS system is too strong, for now. Only if Namecoin develops into a real alternative to the ICANN-controlled system it can be a success.
I recommend everyone who wants Namecoin to succeed to support and use the OpenNic project (https://www.opennicproject.org/
) and other services like ZeroNet (https://zeronet.io/
). Both, with different strategies, realize a "more decentralized Internet" and have integrated Namecoin's .bit domains.
