There is only 30 btc on the buy side at Poloniex, ...

This is the second altcoin, after bitcoin, the first to provide an extremely important innovation. So far there have not really been any new coins that have a better purpose.

Why is there so little interest in a coin like this?

I'm not sure how most of it works but could NMC be used as a simple address tool for Lightning Network transactions?

From the looks of things you have to enter a long string to connect to a channel. Would be easier to connect to xyz.bit

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

Yep. Namecoin is ideally suited for storing long strings and linking them to human-readable names and a namecoin address (sharing same priv/pub keys with bitcoin).

Technical analysis for Namecoin looks very bad https://twitter.com/jindmahi06/status/890263073357004803
Now that Btc-e is gone times ahead will be even more difficult for this coin. I see no development and marketing. Is this coin still alive?

In the future: probably, assuming that Bitcoin does.  I'm a huge fan of SegWit, so I'd definitely like to get it activated on Namecoin.

In the near future: not before AAA.

Right, because I guess releasing Tor naming support isn't development and speaking at ICANN58 isn't marketing...?  /s

You could probably use Namecoin for something like this, but as my familiarity with Lightning is somewhat lacking right now (need to catch up on that topic...) it's possible that there would be issues that I'm unaware of.  How often do new Lightning addresses get created?  Is reuse of Lightning addresses a problem like reuse of P2PKH/P2SH addresses is?

what are the relations between namecoin and blockstack?

it seems that blockstack implements a new internet system based on namecoin ?

or is it a competitor ?

edit: seems pretty quiet here.

https://www.namecoin.org/docs/faq/#how-does-namecoin-compare-to-blockstack

Note that that FAQ section is pending an update, but it's mostly still accurate.

Blockstack isn't an Internet system, it's a naming system.  Blockstack seems to be betting that the general public is too uninformed to figure out that their claims of being "an Internet" are bullshit.  Which, to be honest, might be a safe bet.

edit: seems pretty quiet here.

Do you expect our programmers to spend all day on BitcoinTalk?  We're a public benefit technical project, not a company with a PR department.

I think price is being artifically held up by a very small buy support of someone dumping at the highest price they can get.If flash crash occurs where large bagholders just dumps for whatever BTC they can accumulate we could see price collapse on poloniex. It is worst I have ever seen it to date after some years apart from price going less than .0001 at one stage but I think it can go much lower and remain there for long term going further down as bitcoin rises in price.
