I thought there was some encryption involved so you specifically CANNOT reprogram them?
Thus they are only single use? There is a chance that BFL, as the key owner, can make new bitstreams, but not the user. Yes, sorry, that's what I meant. I'm assuming only BFL can supply new bitstreams - so I guess if you wanted a new one you may have to pay them some amount to create it ... Sure, they can create a new bitstream. But we don't know if the Singles can be user-upgraded in the field (now that would be convenient, via USB), or if they need to be shipped back to BFL for reflashing. BLF-Engineer has never answered that question ... |

Well at least that answers one question  But the other point was to say that if you wanted to do something else with it, you most likely can't without asking BFL to provide you with a bitstream since they are encrypted and thus I'd guess it internally decrypts it so it may not be happy with an unencrypted bitstream. If it was happy with an unencrypted bitstream - then I'm sure someone here could make a faster and/or better one From my limited understanding of how FPGA's work, branches may not be as expensive as they are on GPU's so you may also be able to change certain aspects of how that is done on GPU mining. However, an aside question about that: since it is encrypted and thus no source available, I presume BFL did write the whole bitstream themselves from scratch and didn't base it off someone else's that may require the source to be provided? Hmm that just made me think of something ... the reason why this thread hasn't been moved to the FPGA section ... maybe coz it's not 100% known that the chip is an FPGA? |

I seem to be missing something when it comes to setting up cgminer and my singles.
Also odd is that I got zero documentation with my order. So, are these supposed to have drivers or something?
I got the whole creating the .bat file business but when I run it it just spits out all devices deactivated like it doesn't see anything other than my GPU. Tips?
But other than this...I am so excited!!! Hopefully the rest of my order will be here soon.

I ordered a few of these with Paypal a few days ago. Other than the confirmation email from Paypal itself, I haven't heard a peep from these guys. Is this normal?

Does anyone know why it takes them so long to get these orders processed? I mean unless it's one guy hand soldering everything it should go a bit faster, right?
