YoBit is a scam from as far as I can see.  I remember watching the volume on their games and thinking "no fucking way" too.

I think it is safe to assume coins there are not safe.

Hi, that is normal for any cryptocurrency - when there is no transactions, the address is "something like invisible" for the explorers. Its because the amount of possible addresses is so huge, it would be impossible to add all of them. But some explorers can at least validate, that the address is valid.

The Poloniex withdrawal is just painfully slow - you have to wait.

I sent you some*, so you don't need to wait for your address appear in the blockchain explorer - use it wisely for exploring with the Clam - welcome and enjoy!

Xploited has been busy rebuilding /swap for FreeBitcoins.com, but we are almost done and will move back into finishing the CLAM update.

We need more talent contributing though.  Kinda sucks being a few person-show, but progress is being made slowly but surely.

I am planning to rent VPS and do so, maybe I'll run my own Clam blockchain explorer. Please look at my previous comments, I was asking if its a good idea to do it, but it doesn't caught much attention.

Hmm, the CLAM client is buggy when syncing from the network - it seems to ask different peers for the same sets of blocks, so there's heaps of duplicates - but with the bootstrap it should be much faster. Seems like there may be something else wrong in your case.

If you're syncing to claim CLAM (ie send it to an exchange) you should be able to send the funds before it's fully synced.

But the problem with this is that nobody can be sure that your copy of the blockchain was not tampered and/or is a fork of the original chain. So before everyone download it, please wait for some confirmations from the developers that this copy is genuine, or you might lose your coins.

Another problem with this is that nobody can be sure that there is no backdoor or any malicious code in the zip that could steal wallet.dat data.

And please dont take this as a insult, Faust: Its because in the crypto community you better be safe than sorry. So your work is very appreciated, but you need to make a reputation before releasing this type of files.

Did you downloaded the ZIP from Faust? You can check if the blockchain is correct by following these steps:

1 - Put the zipped files in the CLAM folder without your wallet.dat, and preferably in a virtual machine without any sensitive data.

2 - Open the clam daemon, and wait for it to finish sync. You can speed the synchronization process by using

to get the latest block hash

4 - Access http://khashier.com and click on the latest block number (link in blue)

The hash presented in khashier sould be the same you got in your clam client. This does not guarantee that the files in the zip arent malicious, tough.

Thanks for the highlighting the issues - never trust anyone online (the same applies for the 2.1.0 new beta client*). When I was downloading zipped PIVX blockchain I did basically the same you mentioned (check last block against public blockchain explorer)

And its better that someone else point it out as the original publisher could post misleading information how to verify...

I just can't figure out how having forked chain could lead to loosing coin - as they will stay where they are on the original chain. And there are no executable binary in the .clam that could be tampered.

I have never had any problems with withdrawal/deposit on Yobit. However, never tried out Poloniex.

Poloniex is reliable in the terms they don't run away with your money, you need to have some verification - but is currently having a bit troubles with depositing/withdrawing clams.
Deposit takes 5-10 hours to appear and withdrawals sometime end up in error state - requires contacting the support to get the coins back to the account. I got in the loop, when 3-4 following withdrawals were error.

An easy way to sync fast clam is to connect to only one peer while syncing, and after that, let it connect to all the peers it wants. Find a synced peer like a block explorer public node, and connect to it.

Looks like someone started to buy some CLAMs at YoBit now, still 2.5 times lower. Maybe it would be worth testing? Not that keen on verification, it would still take long before it goes through.

No, Poloniex is fucked up... but they eventually get it right.  We are having problems as well with a few transactions.  Open a support ticket and just wait it out.

Freebitcoins.com/swap is much faster and skips poloniex withdraws for small clam buyers.

Look up MT Gox, Vircurex, Cryptsy ect... they all had the same problems before they got "hacked"..
