I'm in dire need of assistance with an issue which has been plaguing me ever since SGminer was introduced despite the fact that I've invested more time troubleshooting than I care to mention. The rig in question is composed of 2 r290x & 1 r290 and my problem is encountered trying to disable the second GPU from startup w/ the following command-line: -d 0,2 via .bat or "devices" : "0,2" via .config file. This results in GPU2 being absent from the miner although it seems to be mining given the hefty load on GPU observed by Afterburner and GPU1 starting in a disabled state while GPU0 is active for some very odd reason. The purpose of all this is so that I can game or watch movies on GPU1 while GPU0&2 are mining. I'm well aware that I can simply disable GPU1 manually after the miner is launched but every time the kernel switches, so do my clocks which subsequently crashes my rig. The sole solution which comes to mind is by putting my desired clocks for all algorithms for that particular GPU in my config file but I would prefer having it disabled all together.
I really hope someone can get to the bottom of this one in which case I would like to offer my thanks in advance!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632503.msg11341774#msg11341774Thanks for retrieving that info, I feel somewhat relieved that this issue isn't restricted to my particular setup. If anyone is aware of a particular branch which does not introduce the devices bug, please don't hesitate to let us know!

What is the current profitable Quark coin at the moment? I rather mine it directly then thru Nicehash? Its difficulty is around 66300 or so.
I've been asking around; no one seems to know. Yes the only ones I can find are DimeCoin, Quark, SecureCoin and the MonetaryUnit, however all those have a completely different difficulty. Maybe its a Chinese or some other Foreign coin. looking "SAK"

I can't believe what people post on here , In Dire Need Of Assistance Because software that other people wrote and likely spent hundreds of hours on that you use for FREE does not do EXACTLY what you want when you want it, how you want it , by remote control, and dance around the room too It is an open source project dude. SO , You have a few choices if you feel this is a priority to resolve and want to go about it 'properly' 1) Code a fix, test it, do a git pull and if everyone likes it , maybe your work will get merged. (at least your build will work) The benefit of putting your fix on github is others can benefit from this 'awful problem' you have found in the mining software......... 2) Post a bounty for someone to do this for you if you cannot code or don't want to take the time to bother. (Again hopefully the 'fix' since this is priority number one) can get released so the entire rest of the world will benefit from it. There is more of a sense of 'entitlement' in these forums now than years ago before I refused to even god dam join. If you are fortunate enough to own a mining rig, MINE WITH IT[/size
Watch TV or play games on something else.
I'm sorry to scold you personally and single you out.
This is directed at all the cry babys and children on this and other threads who need to be put back into perspective.
You people and the devs who run the x11, x13 , x15 coins should be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy greatful for the work Wolf and others have done or miners would be mining at a fraction of the hash rate they are now and the people buying all the hash power to secure their blockchains from attack (since not enough people believe in their projects to mine the coins just for the coins) would be paying a lot more btc per hash..............
Think about that for a while.....

You guys have a problem. Asking is legit and he actually elaborated on the problem he had quite well. I've received reports much less useful. He didn't say "sgminer sucks". Congratulations, keep feeling "elite" that's exactly what this needs.

The horse you're riding on must be so high your head is way up in the clouds given how far you've deviated off topic. The effort you've invested trying to ridicule me instead of offering your advice is very impressive. I've refrained from posting about this issue for years with good reason given your absolutely useless response. I'm certain a respectable number of users will gradually stumble upon my post as well as damm315er's since they've unfortunately encountered the same issue and deem it conclusive instead of creating yet another thread. Reporting a bug is the first step in getting it resolved although this particular issue has been already acknowledged, additional complaints can only aid in its resolution. I almost forgot to thank you for your useful advice. Please be so kind as to give me your BTC address so I can send some coins your way. Here's some advice for you buddy and please keep this in mind, say half as much you'll sound twice as smart. Think about that for a while.....Last but not least, get laid and let us all know what the weather's like up there. @MaxDZ8, glad to know we're on the same page. @Wolf0, Wo000ooooo00000 Woooooo0000000ooooooo

hey one of my R9 290 rigs has stopped working ,,,,, im using badman sgminer with 14.6 drivers but after about 2 minutes the miner freezes and then the whole pc freezes,,, there are no "display driver fail" messages and the issue is the same for all algo's and all pools I have run cc cleaner to try to find a pc problem but the miner still freezes ,,, the only thing i have not yet done is reinstall the drivers
can anyone throw any light on this
cheers
Edit I have just noticed that when the miner freezes the temp and fan speed jump from 80 degrees 50% to 511 degrees 100% on all cards also when the pc starts it automatically changes to "windows basic display mode"
OUCH! That sounds like a hardware issue to me, nothing to do with software. "Have you turned it off and on again?" My first instinct would be to clean the cards, dust-bunnies on fans and fins, just plain old look-see, then test them out one at a time. Poke it with a stick. Just to keep everyone in the loop a temp reading of 511c does not mean your gpu temp is high ,,,, it seems to mean a number of other hw faults in my case it was due to a faulty/warn out memory stick so yeah poke with stick worked cheers

R9 290x is hanging the whole rig after 2 minutes of mining, absolutely the same problem as mentioned above. Trying to resolve with tweaking the setup, will keep informed.
UPDATE: looks like this is me who was stupid, problem fixed with tweaking the settings.

Try changing your driver. Who would be most appropriate? I'm with 15.4.1!

Try changing your driver. Who would be most appropriate? I'm with 15.4.1! I'm pretty sure that one's not going to work. I remember I was helping someone on IRC get it running, and he said the 15.x drivers gave only HW errors. So, my guess is try 14.9 or 14.6 - I'm guessing one of them will work. I stay with the latest 15.x. I'd hurry, though, I'm mining Quark at WestHash, too, and this is not gonna last forever. Installed as recommended me 14.6, but still earn only hardware errors! That is my content * .bat file! Any other ideas? set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 sgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3345 -u 1JrCZpGJQVfXoY9aCKPXqsxBzU5ia5AeXf -p p=0.5

Here's a picture of what happens if you can help! You need to set the intensity to be higher than 8 and work size 64, 128 or 256. You also need to set the algorithm. Try sgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3345 -u 1JrCZpGJQVfXoY9aCKPXqsxBzU5ia5AeXf -p p=0.5 --algorithm quark -I 18 -w 64. I am not sure about the --algorithm part as I do not use .bat.

try this
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1 sgminer.exe -k quarkcoin -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3345 -I 22 -g 2 -w 128 -u 14Zmen83Q3kR8EsDcoyELhVRbzkfUiZrzo -p x --gpu-engine 1170 --gpu-memclock 1255 -s 10 -E 20
edit one sorry i forgot to mention something i used to always forget, don't forget to 'delete' you .bin files for configurations that did not work for you for the same worksize.

Things were set right so: sgminer.exe -k quarkcoin -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3345 -u 1JrCZpGJQVfXoY9aCKPXqsxBzU5ia5AeXf -p p=0.5 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8193 --intensity 18 --worksize 64 -g 4 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-reorder According to you, is it normal speed and what I can do as optimization? Extremely thank @unklo and @Eastwind for aid? p.s. I picked up intensity 22 and increase the speed of 13.65 MH/s! Thank @cinnamon_carter!

Try --xintensity 512, 1024 or 2048 instead --intensity 22. And why -g 4? Recommend 2 or 1.
