5850 will not exceed 150W with a mild oc (not above 800MHz). i had 2x5850 with a 500W PSU for a while, ofcourse my rig is a dedicated one with a single core Sempron, 1GB ram , one 2.5" disk, etc
before any format make sure you have uninstalled all the ATI drivers and sdk and install only the full catalyst 11.3 or 11.5 with _ocl.
nothing more, i think you will be ok Wink

i found that using phatk gives me 25MH/s more on a 5870 and 4 more on a 4850 than using poclbm. also using bigger worksize helps with mh/s - with poclbm mh/s 's dont change with worksize change but on phatk i can use 256 for a 10 percent increase. same with 4850.

hopes this helps

donate if you feel like it Smiley

Use driver sweeper from http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html & remove all the AMD drivers.
Also, after removing go to safe mode & run again. which will remove every instance of AMD driver.
Then install fresh one. Go for latest 11.5 & 2.4 & instead of express install, go for custom install & ONLY install these 3,
ATI display driver, ATI catalyst install manager, APP 2.4 & if needed vc++.
You will be able to mine with out formating.

Also, don't use askrate & worksize for now.

Thanks!

Using: -k phatk DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false WORKSIZE=256 AGGRESSION=13 on a single 5830 and get 312MH/sec
 Grin

I have always found phatk to be slower.  Why did you choose to use it?  Also, why WORKSIZE=256?  I have also found 128 to be faster on the 58xx and 69xx series.

I am using poclbm at the moment getting 0.2% stale rate [not using BTCMine at the moment though].

I have 7 different computers running 5830s and 256 gives about 5m more than 128.  I run mine at 975 clock, 300 memory and I get about 300MH/sec.

I love these 5830s only cost $100 but can push out 300MH/sec!

had to uninstall using both the driver sweeper, and using the catalyst setup, then i installed 11.5 the way you said and now it seems to work Cheesy

I'm sorry, which askrate is used by default? I have 5770 and would like to know if I should set it by myself.

Oh, actually, I found the answer on the second page.

As for askrate, it's not necessary with Phoenix because it maintains a work queue and only requests work when needed. Phoenix also ignores the askrate setting automatically for RPC servers with long polling support.

I use deepbit.net (RPC+LP), so it makes changing the askrate setting pointless, as I see.

And post a message to the author of Phoenix.  It shouldn't be faulting like that [it rarely continues after such a stack trace is dumped to the console and it, at least for me, has continued to consume ~50% of my GPU doing only God knows what], instead, it should be handling such scenarios gracefully [and perhaps shut itself down].

My hashrate is waaaayy too low for my cards. I need some help getting them to work like they should!

Here's my hashrates
https://i.imgur.com/OSlvj.png

Here's my GPU Load
https://i.imgur.com/ZuJxJ.png

I have 2 machines running 2 HD6990 each with driver 11.5 and SDK 2.4 in Ubuntu 11.04

I run ./phoenix.py -u http://user.worker@pool.com:port/ -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS AGGRESSION=11 FASTLOOP=false BFI_INT

I've tried different AGGRESSION values, tried with and without FASTLOOP and VECTORS and BFI_INT but it doesn't seem to get any better than this. Agression 13 makes the machines feel slow. Haven't tried higher.

CPU load is 100% when mining.
GPU Temperatures are around 80-90 degrees.

I should be able to get 350-375 MHash/sec per worker, right? What should I do to get this?

Looks like nothing much to worry about, but maybe it can help you trace some bugs or something.
Pool is deepbit.net, -k phatk DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=12
Card's 5770 950/309.

Have you tried phatk kernel (-k phatk)?
Also try to underclock memory. It will decrease overall temp giving you the possibility to increase your gpu clocks a little bit. And also it should enhance mhash/s performance.

I have been using Phoenix solo for a few days now with a decent hasrate. I finaly got 1 accepted and I thought that would mean that I finaly solved a block. However nothing ever showed up in the bitcoin client and there is still zero in the rejected.

Is there some other possibility I am missing?

The Bitcoin client doesn't show generated blocks at all until after 2 confirmations. I don't know why this is. You've probably already seen it appear by now.

Hi im new to bit mining and i am running dual MSI 6990s and they run at 333.33 mhash/sec per GPU which gives me the total of 1332 MHASH/SEC. Is this normal?? I want to try an overclock it as well, can anyone give me tips on how to do that and what rate should i be going at per card or per GPU?? Huh

oh btw im also running my SAPPHIRE 5770 1GB on another computer and it only gives me 125.66 mhash/sec. On the wiki it saids i should be going at 156.83 at core of 850. what am i doing wrong?

I find that even aggression 1 is driving temperature too high (80C) for my card (ATI 6770), how do I set the speed even lower? I currently get 130 Mhash/s but I'm ok with lower speed if I could get my GPU temperature down to 70 level.
