question guys. does the amount of XEM you have in your wallet have any effect on the amount you will be able to harvest? like if you have more XEM, do you get more harvested proportional to what you already hold? someone please educate me. thanks.

Yes it does. It is one factor - a big one - when calculating the importance of an account.

thanks for the reply. can you please give me a link to the exact mathematical formula for computing this? thanks again

It's in the very first post....

Why even bother cooperating with Microsoft?
-visibility-

People tend to be shortsighted, all they see is short term profit. Not long term benefits.

We already won, the coin is already successful. Now just wait for mass adoption.

Your being sarcastic, right?

We have soooo many things we need to do.  Nobody should be sitting back.

Up next is releasing mobile apps, new light wallet release, Apostille, and Supernodes start.

But what we really need is some big deals.  IBM, R3, and Ethereum all have a lot more resources, so we need all the help we can get.

Please take a minute to fill this out.  Many people actually have some little thing they can contribute to help.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RWdE187ngIsRKoHo5ZQ6LPs0LNv8o65fIpATLx2gXgY/

Filled out the form. Glad to help

I absolutly agree with you for this point. But we should not give up rights for cooperating with such big companies like Microsoft and IBM. I saw that there was a poll on Qora, because getting on the Azure platform restricts the future use of the open source code. This must be a no-go for every coin project.

The fact that NEM has value and not just left dead months ago proves that it is succesful, at the crypto world level. That's all I was saying.

Thats true.

However if we get independent advice from some decent lawyers who can make some head or tail on the vague agreement, it may be of benefit to us.

Google Translation:

This week was a week memorable.
Zaif more than 2.0 billion transactions a day.
mijin as domestic banks like we received an order for paid license will be the first.

It seems that "Mijin received an order for paid licence from a domestic bank for the first time."

Translation from Japanese to same structure language is more accurate than Japanese to English(different structure language)

im pretty sure thats the first iv ever heard of a bank actually paying for use of a private blockchain solution and not just testing or experimenting with it. mijin must be waaaaay ahead of others like r3

Its the only time I have ever heard of a bank paying to use a blockchain, so this is a really big 1st for NEM, but, 1. we still need to confirm the bank (I'll ask Asayama next time we chat) and, 2. I'm not sure if it is for a live service or maybe a more serious testing round.

Sure, this would be great! But i doubt that there is any gap in the law so that we could bypass the strict requirements of Microsoft.
Before they make concession they would take some other promising projects which stand up well to doing it.

A professional lawyer has written us back. It is good that we took a moment to hesitate.

He interprets the agreement with a wide scope that throws the burden on the submitter on any IP owned by third parties which is used when the submitter allows the submission to be applied by Microsoft.

This doesn't mean we can't be on the store, but that we should be careful when applying.

Was the lawyer paid for the advice (i.e. this is an official opinion), or was it a friendly email reply or BBS response? Is the lawyer familiar with crypto?
Could NEM use it in a future dispute for example?

the block rewards originate from tx fees only. there is no inflation of the monetary supply through block rewards like in PoW. so if there are no tx's there are no block rewards and the higher your accounts importance in the network, the more blocks you harvest.

Pro-bono and hence a friendly note. So no strings attached. Lawyer is very familiar with software and IPs and has more than 30 years experience in this. He has seen enough of this. Agreement has nothing to do with Crypto. It was more about the code, submission, and IPs.

Thanks!  Are you able to post the lawyers full response? I think about 50+ crypto projects would be interested in this information.

I think if Azure isn't 100% ok, then the answer must be don't do it!
