so i spent some time rearranging my rig setup and got it up and running at 77.5GH (2 cards) before realising that i am pulling air through the tunnel, rather than pushing/blowing it. *facepalm* Previously i was able to have semi-stable operation at 81GH (39.5-41GH per card) but the system kept dropping chips or a full card to zero. that fan setup was a lot more rickkity with 2-4 fans in use and creating slight vibration. I plan to watch the new setup overnight before either a) overclocking further or b) getting a second 230mm fan to increase airflow (and then overclock!)

Why 100W processor such monstro-cooler? It was nerd luv at first sight after I saw the review and it just happened to be on sale for only $35 (after MIR). Think thats overkill ? The 9900nt is cooling a 65w PII x3 720e.

Why 100W processor such monstro-cooler? Its unlocked AND overclocked 27%, the TDP will be much higher than 100 watts.

Not heard of 'lapping' before :S is this basically polishing up the joints between the CPU and heatsink? (do you use HSP between them as well?)

@Jay_Pal Tyvm Not bad at all considering I went straight to the 2000 grit after I ran out of the 600s. lol Not bad at all. Although you'd achieve an even smoother surface using at least 800 and 1200 before the 2000 and polishing with a soft cloth + water after that. We used also a paste I can't remember the name and an reactor and sealant (not necessary here, I guess) afterwards.

Yup. The main goal here is to make the contact areas as flat as possible. http://youtu.be/GpD4wmB79hsWhat is HSP ? @Jay_Pal Tyvm Not bad at all considering I went straight to the 2000 grit after I ran out of the 600s. lol Not bad at all. We used also a paste I can't remember the name and an reactor and sealant (not necessary here, I guess) afterwards. I avoided that potential problem by letting the fine dust, created by the 600 grit, do it for me. eg. I used little/no downward pressure after the nickel plating was completely gone.
