Did Elmit ever fix his pool or is he still scamming?

If I remember correctly, on burstforum he said that he replaced the motherboard.  Huh Huh

So yea, I really don't think he or his so called "team" is capable of handling anything. But I do hope he proves me wrong.

Still getting this problem. I reverted to 319 for the time being.

Weird enough, even though I wasn't hashing faster on 401, I was finding a LOT more blocks. Maybe just coincidence, but it seems as though there is a bug in the current version (319) that severely hampers my ability to find blocks. I've been mining on a pool for some time now, so it doesn't really affect me, but I'm sure doesn't help the pool I'm supposed to be 'contributing' to.

12 days w/o crashes for me... using 401

Try setup "ShowWinner" : false

Still happening with winner being false.
set "UseCleanMem" : false
it worked for me, so far 3 days w/o crashes

The bug is most likely something like the following:

vector< int > v;

v.push_back( 1 );
v.push_back( 2 );

int x = v[ 2 ]; // oops - bad

(as only v[ 0 ] and v[ 1 ] would be valid)

So somewhere the code has made a mistake about the size of a vector and tried to read (at least) one record beyond the end of its valid range.

It may help for the dev to change the code to use v.get( X ) rather than v[ X ] (if they aren't doing this already) to perhaps get better exception info but basically they need to find why they are trying to read outside of the valid range of the container.

One starting point might be to make sure all loops upon vectors look like this:
for( vector< int >::iterator i = 0; i < v.size( ); ++i )

rather than this:
for( vector< int >::iterator i = 0; i <= v.size( ); ++i )

(but that is only one such example of where this kind of mistake could have been made)

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

Hello BURST community !!

Can anyone please guide me on how to create a custom burn address?

Will appreciate your kind help.

http://wiki.burstcoin.de/index.php?title=FAQ

If vandalay really meant a burn address this would not help completely, as he would have access to it.
Well, at least I would not trust a burn address like that, just send coins to genesis acc

Can you please elaborate on the genesis account?
I know it exists for NXT as well

how is it provably unspendable?
and what is the public key of the BURST gen account?

You guys are sure it works in Burst as well?  I could see burstdev having removed it and it just being a regular account.. which has a known password.

You should probably test it by sending a couple Burst there before using it as a Burn address.

Genesis address is BURST-NU58-Z4QR-XXKE-94DHH
It's pubkey is 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

really anything that entirely has numeric meaning(unlikely to have a pubkey found by chance would work)

iirc account 0 is BURST-2222-2222-2222-22222, so that works nicely also.

unlike NXT or HZ (clone of NXT), BURST genesis account doesn't have a negative balance.
with negative balance, you have an easy proof of burning coins.

So how can one use BURST genesis account to burn coins?

This is due to the fact that both HZ and NXT are 100% premined. Their genesis accounts started out with a balance of 0, therefore when they sent out the premine coins the accounts ended up with negative balances. IIRC NXT is hardcoded to reject transactions coming from accounts with negative balances so this provides an effective way of burning even if the passphrases to access them are known.

As both mczarnek and the dev pointed out, anything that is sufficiently unlikely to have a key found can dub as a burn address in BURST (maybe not for the extremely paranoid Cheesy).
I apologize for thinking of the genesis account first, as you might argue it does not perform the function as well as it does in other 'NXT' coins. During one discussion the dev mentioned destroying assets by sending them to the genesis account, so I thought it performs the same function as in other 'NXT' coins.

This mistake of mine illustrates my initial point to some extent though Cheesy. I would not send my coins to a randomly looking account someone posts in this thread (or anywhere else) and claims 'This is a burn address'. Always approach posts with a healthy dose of caution Smiley

Now that this is clear,

Can anyone here create such a burn address? should contain as many consecutive X's as possible an a valid checksum.

Cheers

If you feel that way, sell them and take off. No need for these types of comments here. We know what this coin is, and what we plan to do with it. If you don't believe in it, you're free to leave.

The donations to our BTC account cleared up by re-syncing the blockchain:

- I donated 0.03819606 BTC at 08.32 CET today
- Someone else donated 0.0799 at 14.00 CET today, but remains anonymous. If you want you nick on the Hall of Fame-page, please email burst@countermail or PM me Smiley No-matter-what, thank you for the donation! Smiley

i sent a small donation of 2500 burst
someone else also sent 2500, don't know who that was.

my transaction as a message mentioning my nick

Thanks! Good idea with the inclusion of nick Smiley Donors, that is a third way verifying your contribution.

I'm really happy someone donated a smaller sum as those can prove really important if *many* holders/miner understand that they do not need to donate 100K.

Would be great if we could create a culture where smaller donations (few hundred/Ks) become an everyday thing for holders/miner to people/groups contributing to BURST. That can very well bring in more money overall to the devs (or who you want to support) than the huuuge donations (which we ofc also welcome as they today are necessary;) ).

It might also make more community members contributing with "dev work" if they almost know they will get a few K for it.

So far we have had donations every single day and it felt we were about to change the "donation culture". Today is the first day, so far, we have not received any BTC or BURST.

And I'm not looking at the usual suspects who support this coins immensely economically, but we have 17,500 wallets out there...

The reason I nag about this is not greed, we will show every expense at BurstForum (see my sig), but that we the coming week have a couple of costly news to deliver. It simply takes a lot of money to run a coin. Working with PR the last month, I even start to understand those who do IPOs. Either way: we have none to fall back on and need you.

Note: The donation accounts are no longer just for PR but for the whole Dev team, from core and software to PR.

EDIT: after doing some calculation, I can say that we'd need about 680 bucks (with todays BURST and BTC) quite fast. That's use, but on the other side I now how quickly you donated 429 bucks for an important PR (still not used, so we will use them if the above is possible).

Come on people, the PR we're working this money up for is going to be VERY BIG, so if you care dearly as we do about the future of BURST, it is in your best interest to assist us in reaching our goal. I myself will donate more later this week!

you forget that if the public key is not published by a own transaction from it it only has 64 bit options to gain access to.
since the pk is unknown at the beginning there wont be any option to do such a transaction.
but my compute farm is waiting for such a address if someone wants to establish a burn address this way  (want to test some code) Tongue

-[Quick ANN]-

The talks for integrating BURST into CS and CS:GO servers is going very well, and I think the idea is a good one.

I would like some reaction from the community on this.

So, what does everyone think?

we would be able to use BURST to bet on games, use them for rewards, etc. The coin would be exposed to a HUGE gamer market of Counter-Strike, which has been a game that has stood the test of time and still is very popular.

I can see no bad side to doing this, and I think it should be done.

What does everyone think about this?

The cost is only 20USD a month and I believe the advertising potential is very large and would be more than worth the small monthly fee (that is mostly used to pay the hosting costs for the servers.)

What do you think, BURST community?

I am ready to give the go ahead now, I am even willing to pay it all out of my own pocket if need be, because I Think it is a great idea. What does everyone else think?

Give it a try!  Cheesy

I've learned that daWallet seldom has wrong, so put some effort into it. The CS community is big, and we'd be able to show usage of BURST.

Perhaps someone in this thread is into CS and can help out?
