As I was just saying a minute ago... A good example of somebody only reading the most recent submission and missing what came before - for lack of looking. Just leave the name like it is. This coin is way too early in its developmental stage to be even thinking about long term changes...

Again, I want to reiterate what I said... people don't react lightly to change. Asking them to switch over to another forum will be fairly difficult. It'll be easier if you make a reddit page tbh... |

Why are you guys even discussing the name change when there are still features being developed. I'd much rather keep the name and focus heavily on development.
Agreed, don't put the cart before the horse. The main focus is offcourse on development. I can already tell a new update is on his way. Also a paper wallet is coming out very shortly and the new logo will be launched this weekend. When you look you didn't see Troll or me much online, there are reasons for... :-) |

My counterpoint was: If a change is to be made and with good reason, better to do it when only a few would be upset instead of having a larger group of people who might have difficulty making the adjustment. Sooner is better. Let your tire go flat in winter, or put a new one on in the autumn. As I was just saying a minute ago... Reddit has been around longer. No contest there, it's a no-brainer. But now that there *IS* a forum specifically for LTCD and excludes unrelated subjects, it would be silly not to take advantage of the organized system. Quite a few lively coins started initial discussion here and then made their own currently active forum. Threads here have been locked and a last post was made directing people to those respective sites. It actually works. Make a poll and ask whether people look at Reddit or the LTCD's forum more.

What did I say that my grammy said? I don't see it. I personally have no objection to 'dark'. I own a metric phuque-ton of it. Xircon was first to say it and indicated it was pretty much decided that the name would change. Even though I like this current name, I do see the advantage of choosing a name more palatable to big commerce and the vast majority of the rest of the world. I still see all this talk of a name change, and while it may be a good idea for later, maybe at the 2.0 launch, right now we're known as LTCD. I seriously doubt "dark" is discouraging investors. It's far more likely that someone holding a massive amount of a coin that is being quickly depleted still in its infancy is discouraging new investors. I am 100% behind the idea of dropping the block rewards. I am 100% behind adding proof of stake. I'm also 100% behind the current list of bugfixes and resolutions that I'm working on (ie. the pchMessageStart problem).
The way I see things, I wish I had gotten the opportunity to help with this coin prior to its initial launch. I would almost propose relaunching LTCD with a side blockchain using proof-of-burn and trading 1:1 or even 1:0.5 with the new codebase to reduce the number of coins in circulation, without raising the 82,003,200 cap and allowing a definite start to proof-of-stake block generation and rewards.
Some of these things will need to be addressed VERY quickly if LTCD is to survive. Some of these things may be damaging to our reputation in the short term, but I think we'll end up with a better infrastructure and more room for growth with the possibility of expansion very soon.
I have forked litecoin (again) into a staging repository where I'm going to build (yet another) testing-only currency to run some specific simulations and work out my own proof-of-stake implementation outside of core. The sources will be open, so you can feel free to compile your own, but consider it a semi-closed beta as binary wallets will only be distributed to a select few of those willing to help run various scenarios. In this staging currency, there will a stipulation within the license agreement that you are NOT allowed to buy or sell the currency for any real-world currency, crypto, fiat, precious metals or anything else that can be given a monetary value EXCEPT the staging coin itself. It is something I'd like to keep as a staging ground for 2.0 features with no direct ties to LTCD other than hypotheticals.
PM for invites for beta testing. I'll personally vet the testing candidates and decide who can get an early copy.
The staging currency I'm referring to is NOT LTCD 2.0, it is only a test bed (beyond the scope of testnet) for future feature integration within LTCD proper.

Please stop with the exchange submissions for a minute.
THINK first. Read backward here and review the posts from people regarding both sides of the matter. Then decide if you want to murder LTCD or not. I've said the same thing yesterday. Too many exchanges will just end up being a bad thing for the coin at this point. Far better to have stable volume on the current exchanges. |

About the bots: I'm maybe going to take a shot at them again today. I pretty much blew my wad yesterday faster than I expected and with less result than before. Today, I'm dragging more BTC together and try a different time of day when maybe the bot handler is having dinner or watching TV.
