Do you think i could still solo mine with these stats? You can expect to find a block once every 44,000 years or so (assuming difficulty remains the same). Probably not worth it.

could someone explain me why some people are renting huge amount of hash for a limited time ? As far as I know , the bigger hasrate you rent , the higher is the price per TH/s. And as far as I know , less hashrate but for a longer time could be cheaper and have the same effect ? am I wrong ??

Everyone has different methods they try, some people believe one way is better than another. As for your chances at solving a block, statistically it's the same for a small amount of hash over a long time vs. a large amount of hash over a short time, assuming that the total number of shares submitted is identical for each method.

Thanks Mike. Paying a higher price to rent more hashrate in a limited time seems to be a kind of faith..

Mine at Jonny's Pool

The point is that statistically it doesn't matter. If you submit 100G shares in 10 minutes, or 100G shares in 10 days, you still submitted 100G shares.

Foot note, the only way it could make a difference is if there was a difficulty change mid-way through your "less hash for longer duration" rental. So if you're doing long rentals time them to happen in one difficulty period I guess.

Maybe, but what if people are waiting for the lowest possible prices and they're only low for a short period? Throwing everything at it while it's cheap may be a strategy in itself. Alternatively it could actually be the owner of the high hashrate has this pool as their last backup and if no one's renting for a period they mine here.

Right, but as per his question, indeed it does matter if you pay more for the same 100G shares. But, as stated above, the price isn't just based on the length of the rental.
