anyway I can configure so that my mining starts at a particular diff? I have a U3 and it takes forever each time it restarts for difficulty to drop from 4K to 175 so that I can generate shares that actually get accepted. until it drops to 175 all my shares are discarded?
if no way, then I have to switch back to antpool solo mining since, it seems to be recycling often recently and with 60ghs lottery you can't be also down 1 out of 3 days to boot Sad
Shares are only cosmetic on the solo pool. It doesn't matter if you're getting them or not since they're just showing you that you're successfully mining and have no intrinsic value in solo mining. However if you are using cgminer, then solo.ckpool.org, like all ckpool based pools, supports the command line parameter that will allow you to suggest a suitable diff for your hardware to speed up the process of getting to your optimal diff. Add the following command to your cgminer parameters:
Code:
--suggest-diff 175

I am still reading this thread but what was the slowest miner to find a block ? I see there was a few S7's in the last year.

Any S5's?
S3's ?
USB Miners ?

I'm so confused about this. If this is solo, does that mean if you solve a block, you get all of the block - the 1% fee? When was the last time a block was found?
That is correct.

The last blocks solved can be seen here:
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/pool/solockpool

You'll see the last block was 17 days ago.

Would it be possible for miners to set an email address to get notified if they hit upon a block? Maybe they could add it via the website using a signed message from the address they are mining to? It would be helpful for miners who mine long-term without them needing to check their wallet everyday.

Solo has no database whatsoever so there is nothing to store such information and act upon it. I believe lots of web blockchain viewing services provide something for that. On the other hand expected block solves are rare at only about 1 every 2 weeks and I post every single one of them here so if you are subscribed to get email notification of new posts here and see the block count increase in the message topic, you know a block has been solved and can then check here or your wallet.

If you have iPhone. You can dl CKPool. It monitors Kano's and this pool. As long as your aware of the address your mining to it's a good option.
