Thanks guys. The test pool is at a rip roaring 1.8% diff so it'll find a block in no time.
I have 1 of my SP30's pointed at it, and 1 of my SP20E's and 1 sp10 pointed at it as well.

hi ck -- just wondering, if segwit adoption 95% is not reached -- does that mean we go back to old solo pool? Thanks

hi ck -- just wondering, if segwit adoption 95% is not reached -- does that mean we go back to old solo pool? Thanks No as the update is (supposed to) work on both networks regardless, and there are other updates to the pool as well which were pending. When the test pool finds a block, I'll be moving back to the one pool again with the updated code, and just get all miners back on the one main pool through a series of seamless redirects the way I usually do, and simply leave that port open on the new pool as well as the existing port. At this stage if I were to make a call, it's my guess that there will be a significant proportion of the network, maybe 15% that will persist with something like BU or just core pre-segwit, while there is a large chunk of mining entities that are currently neutral. I expect the neutral entities will simply switch with time when it's convenient to avoid fucking up the way I did with the pool. The remainder is the real issue, but with one year for segwit to activate I still expect they'll eventually come around. They've signalled support for all sorts of other things in the past and eventually abandoned them. A lot of the concerns regarding segwit, I believe, are a combination of minor valid concerns, perceived major concerns, and plain FUD, and I don't believe the minor valid concerns outweigh the benefits segwit brings to bitcoin at large. And I'd just like to take this opportunity to bring up fucking up with the pool again. Even though it's out of character for me, I'd like to remind people of the slush incident - his pool had block withholding from a mining entity that likely lost the pool somewhere in the order of 250-500BTC depending on real luck over the course of about 3 months and that money was never reimbursed to the miners even though he allegedly found the offenders. Not sure what he ever did with the offenders but he certainly didn't treat that incident the way I did out of my own personal reserves of cash.

Thanks for your show of support, much appreciated. The show of support is the thing that keeps me going and at least at this stage I won't be throwing the towel in. I've been working on the code trying to figure out what went wrong and I believe I have it nailed now but I'm too scared to deploy it again just yet. Instead I've put up a separate pool instance for people brave enough to test it that would prefer to help signal support for segwit for the time being. This will be temporary and comes without any guarantee, even though I've since confirmed I found the bug with the previous code. I'd appreciate it some are brave enough to mine on it instead of the current pool as a show of support. I'm pretty sure you will end up with a block if you find one. Pool is at stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:13333 Stats at pool2 version of regular pool http://solo.ckpool.org/pool2http://solo.ckpool.org/users2/http://solo.ckpool.org/workers2/It is on the same server as the existing solo pool so comes with all the same performance and benefits. Thanks for the test pool -ck put around 20th cmon solo block if i hit it, ill donate a little extra for the cause.

It's finally cooled off here to the point I need to heat my house, so I fired up my A6 last night for the first time since last spring and have my hat back in the solo lottery. Wish I could afford/justify an A7 to play with, but my A6 is still a good piece of gear. Wish I had a 240v outlet at my new house, it was a bit more efficient running off that than it is at 120v now.

Welcome, all cold weather heater miners, and thanks to the 200TH of miners already on the test pool!
Alas every freaking time I've been offered mining gear is just before summer and electricity here has always been really expensive so I only get to mine in the worst possible conditions for a short period with the latest gear till diff takes its next hike upwards. I'm currently dumping my one A7 onto the test pool myself and am already undervolting it to keep it quieter, cooler and more efficient. Running it at the lower voltage also makes its noise much more tolerable for indoor mining if you're looking for a new heater.

Yea just went the other way with the Ma, I paid a friend to come do it but I believe it was 720Ma Runs great I have another one too but it's not as fast, it does the other half of the house, when I solve this block I'll be buying Avalon 7's I hope it's quieter than an S7 at full tilt ? Thank you for your solo pool CK, also thank you for your work for the community. I hope your Avalon wins ! http://solo.ckpool.org/users2/1Ln21nMVmeBjw8fJcMtxKi7MkckHXujQJnThat's my little 300$ miner there cranking away When will the new pool become the only pool? Will it happen slow? will my new stats always be at user2? What is segwit? I tried reading about it but there isn't much I can understand Silly questions most likely but questions.

Once the test pool has proven itself working properly by finding a block, the main pool will be updated to the code of the test pool and the test pool will be shut down. It will happen very quickly after notification on this forum and is an instantaneous process. Existing miners will be redirected seamlessly without needing to do anything with effectively no down time and anyone that tries to mine on port 13333 will be mining on the updated main pool. Thank you for all the work on this project, and excited that your still here with us trying to grind it out. I'm on the new pool, and will let you know. If I hit, will donate to the cause. Thank you again. If Trying to find the sweet spot on my S7 for Ghashing, any recommendations? Thanks

Have just read through last 4 pages... Well, shit happens, but the way -ck compensated the losses seems to me something only Santa can still do nowadays, though I wasn't one of those lucky guys (have just checked my best shares just in case). So I just wanted to run my usual Friday lottery, but now i'm a bit confused - do I have to point my ants to solo.ckpool.org:13333 or usual mining to port :3333 is also possible now? As far as I understand it, ming to port :13333 is mining to a test part of the pool, and doing it will help to test the new code, and this is the only difference? Do I get it right? Anyway, if I find a block, I'll help our local Santa -Ckaus with a donation.

You can mine to either port, but mining to 13333 is mining the test code with segwit activation flagged, and while the code has now been bugtested and appears to be working fine, I give no guarantees with it (though I'm almost certain it should be fine now.) If the lack of guarantee concerns you, or you wish to not signal support for segwit, mine on the regular port 3333, though once the test pool finds a block successfully, I will not be giving an option against segwit.

Well, clear and lightning quick answer. Thanks, -ck! As I treat my solo minig once a week as a lottery, I do understand low chances of winning, so the lack of guarantee is smth that scares me least of all))) So i'll go to 13333, hope to become the one who proves with a block the test code works fine

One more thing - couldn't connect to de.ckpool.org on port 13333, at solo.ckpool.org it works fine now. Is it just me or 13333 not available at de. ?
