It seems to me that the S4 market hash is more profitable than the S5, perhaps due to the cheaper per hash price...

According to conwarz calculator, S4, at current hash rates of 0.00086799 BTC at $245 per BTC, the S4 is supposed to break even in 252.63 days and make profit of $613.09 after one year. That's $187.77 profit after break even.
187.77 / 424.34 = 44.25% profit, the first year.
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=2000.00&p=1400.00&pc=0.0976&pf=0.00&d=49692386354.89380000&r=25.00000000&er=245.00000000&hc=424.34

On the other hand the S5 market price hash of 0.00145 BTC, the S5 is supposed to break even after 283.18 Days and make profit of $528.47. That is a profit of $118.47 after break even.
118.47 / 410 = 28.90% profit the first year.
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=1155.00&p=590.00&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=49692386354.89380000&r=25.00000000&er=245.00000000&hc=410

Am I correct?

You need to account for the fact that the S5 will last longer than the S4.  So once the S4 is shut down, the S5 will continue to hash, and I actually deleted my original spreadsheet, but for a fair bit longer than the S4.  But, based on my calculations, the S5 is a better choice.  Now we have had some difficulty changes and price changes and I would have to do my calcs, but I would bet that the S5 is still the better deal.

Although something I did not totally account for was resale value.  This could play a big part, but shipping costs are also important.  Do I understand it correctly that it is a $50 shipping fee when the miners are finally shipped to you?  Is that the amount for both the S4 and the S5?

You will want an official answer but I think the 50 dollars is a handling fee, then you have a shipping fee on top.  I could be wrong but it makes it cost prohibitive anywhere outside of China unless you have free electric pretty much.  Then again if you had free electric you wouldn't have cloud Smiley

Anyways just a heads up that you will want to make sure if that is 50  shipping or 50 handling + shipping.

Edit ---

Hardware Redemption: a) When the contract is terminated, you may choose to have the physical hardware shipped to yourself; b) 1155 GH/s = one S5 machine; c) Users must bear shipping and handling cost of having machines sent to them; d) User is purchasing used hardware, the quality and hashrate of miners delivered to users cannot be guaranteed

But maybe that is total of 50?  Another reason I think the 50 is just the handling is because the shipping cost would be very different from an s2 or s4 versus a s5 or s3.  Different weights and dimensions.

I started reading the contract a little closer.  And you seem to be right that the $50 is a handling fee only (What a ripoff in the first place).  Then you have to pay for actual shipping costs as well.  If they are anything like Bitmain's shipping, it will be around another $40 per unit.  So, once the hardware is not profitable to run anymore, it will cost you another at least $90 just to ship it to you.  Then if you want to sell it, you will have to pay shipping again, which in the U.S. I have found to be around $25 per unit.  That brings the total to about $115 per unit, just to break even once it is not profitable to run anymore.  And that is just the S5.

The S4 will cost the $50 handling fee, then, as per Bitmain's website, another roughly $125 to ship it to you.  I have shipped S2's around the U.S. for about $60 per unit, so once that is added on it is $185 per unit.

We can compare the future value of the S5 to the current value of the S3 which is going for about $120 on Amazon.  Once you subtract out fees charged by Amazon, it is actually cheaper to just let Hashnest keep the miner, then having to pay for shipping and handling fees.

By the time the S5 is using more electricity (maintenance) than it produces, it's probably not worth the hassle to ship and re-sell. I've been considering a $0 terminal value for calculation purposes.

I thought the shipping after contract expiration applies only to purchased S5 from the contracts section, doesn't it? Does it also apply to buying hashes from the market?

No it applies to any hash that you can buy on their market.  When you are buying hash, you are buying a part of an actual machine.  If you have enough hash to cover an entire machine, they will let you have one if you pay for the shipping and handling fees.

It depends on the pool luck.  If a block takes longer to find, then you will owe more for power and maintenance fees than the payout was.

Promised the wife once i reached my Bitcoin goal the miners would be sold, after a year and a half of mining job done coins in cold storage . Still want to contribute to network in some way, decided to invest proceeds from sale of equipment into hashnest Pacmic V2. Purchased block of ten and block of five TH contracts today fifteen in total all good expecting to add more as equipment goes availability allowing.

Now the question what is the best strategy regarding auto buy? bit confused with this, Block of ten on, Block of five off at present. Any help/views would be appreciated.

On several block's this happened today!

Please advise

It depends on the pool luck.  If a block takes longer to find, then you will owe more for power and maintenance fees than the payout was.

Okay.
Thanks you.
It seems I have been having lots of bad luck...
And the back luck keeps on arriving.

I cant find the shutdown button lol Smiley it would be cheaper to turn it off

Are you sure of a negative balance with S5 ? One day of bad luck could happen sometimes, I'm in S5 by one month (before i owned UMISO and S3) now, with good earnings, but from 25 of may till today, never happened to have one day of negative balance (i check the balance one time a day), so in the long run you are not loosing.....

But if you think that this investment is no more profitable for you sell the power on the market....  Grin Grin Grin

Its normal, yesterday was a higher luck day, so your balance should not be positive.

If you go to your S5 Stats page with the pool graph etc and hover the mouse over the graph blocks, you will get payout info like in the picture below.
This is the payout for yesterday and as you can see, if you subtract the fee from the payout, you are still into a positive.

This was my payout for 50GH/s

So no need to worry. During the day it all works out quite ok.

That's right Ian, sometime some block goes negative in the payout, but during the whole day the result is always positive....

Like everyone else said luck is what will cause bad and good days ( negative or positive payouts )  If you have just say 90% luck and own ant 2 for days youw could have negative payouts for a long time.  Ant 5 shouldn't be negative many days if at all.

Now, be careful and double check that it was just bad luck.

One guy bought some hashing like .33 and there was an error and he was charged like .33 in maintenance.  Obviously that was an error and they eventually got back to him and fixed it.  Should be able to go see the thread on it.

But most likely just a bad day.   Again, with ant 5 there should be almost no negative days unless pool luck is like 50%.

Good luck.
