I'm getting about 1.5% stale shares. Why is it so high? For comparison, Deepbit gives me about 0.4% stales
As stated in my post directly above yours:

I was running a stress test on US West to see what kind of speed it could handle.  It turns out it can easily handle the entire pool worth of speed right now, the issue was it was tossing out stales (no idles though).

I've found out why it was tossing stales, and will attempt another test tonight.  The goal is to consolidate the servers to a load balanced location to reduce the overhead of sync'ing servers all over the world, and to give us one location behind a provider that understands DDoS and will help us with perimeter level filtering if we are attacked again.  Cutting out some of the monthly costs is another plus.

i only mined .97btc in the last 24 hours with 2.3Ghash. Whats the problem? thats like 50% of what I should be mining.
NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT 24 HOUR LUCK.  EVERY POOL HAS BAD LUCK STREAKS, EVERY POOL HAS GOOD LUCK STREAKS.
OK, you convinced me to go back to uswest.
This is getting frustrating as hell.  Undecided
It is frustrating. Everyone in the pool is experiencing the same bad luck as you. BTC Guild has had some very fast rounds in the past.... eventually it all evens out.
I don't mean to sound rude, but you are free to mine at whatever pool you choose. In fact, I am mining at 3 different pools right now (the other 2 are mostly for backup). If you mine at several pools at once, you spread your luck around even more.
This happens because if a pool is having bad luck, it means the other pools make up for it and vice versa.

That is a good idea. I will do that as soon as Linuxcoin goes to a release version (supposed to be this week) which includes Smartcoin. I will split my miners to three different pools.

Patch was just deployed on US West (which has currently taken over every server except for useast and uscentral) to fix the stale/invalid issue that was happening during the 1.8 TH/sec stress test.  Giving it about an hour to settle in, then I'll be pointing East/Central at it again temporarily to determine if the problem is truly behind us now.

I'm guessing you forwarded uscentral? My stales were super low < .5 and have gone up to >2.00 in the last 30 or so. Granted it could be something else entirely, but if you are looking for feedback ;o)

Eleuthria quick question for you: When this is all over, what addresses(s) would you prefer that we aim out miners at?

unless I don't know what I am talking about, (which can be the case quite often)

Everyone looks for the same block.  one block at a time until it is found.   right?

need an expert to answer this:
is it possible to submit the same shares to multiple pools?
thus getting double paid.

No. The shares you are working on contain a hash of the pool's payment address. This will be different for every pool and all other pools will reject any work that didn't come from them.

It's over, the Eternal Block is over!  Now that the servers have stress tested a 7 million block share, lets double our old record and go for 16m!  Just kidding, don't hurt me T_T.

Anyone else having stale problems lately?  I've tried both poclbm_py2exe_20110627 and poclbm_py2exe_20110709.

After every LP, I get 4-7 stales over the next minute:

I dont know if this helps, but just after the 4 hour block was found, I pointed 3 of my rigs over to btc...  I had 0 stales for about 20 minutes. then it jumped to about 5-7% stales in minutes.

I am looking forward to this becoming stable.

I am getting LOTS of stale shares...
I don't know whats wrong but since one day or two ago approx btcguild is giving lots of stale shares...

This is not the way of doing things..... so I am moving all my workers to another server until the stale problem gets fixed.

I'm getting a grip load of stales too... hovering around 6% stales. Might as well go to deepbit and pay 3% fee with <1% stales

If you've found my post helpful, send me some bitcoins!

Hopefully the latest round of updates fixed the stales.  This afternoon I went back and rolled in the patches to pushpool that I had been slacking on, something went awry on the rejects due to roll_ntime.  Disabled it as jine did on his pool and things are already looking much better.

I really hate to say this, but after seeing over 5% stales yesterday, I decided to try a different pool for a little while while things settle down here.  The new pool is giving me 2.5% or less (I really hate to see wasted work, since that's wasted electricity, bandwidth, and time)

I hope to be back in a few days, keep up the hard work on getting the superserver running like a top and I know this pool will grow to larger than it ever has been before, quickly.
