There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Block by gtso!
Hell yeah. You are really fast with block props. Haha! It's my cgminer monitor that runs my Antminer U3...it gets the pool notices such as shares accepted, blocks found, etc in real time directly from the CKPool. The U3 is useless for hashing power but getting the CKPool announcements in real time is really cool! Edit: Of course, it depends on me sitting in front of my computer for me to see it. Otherwise I depend on CKPool Monitor texts and the iPhone app for notifications. This time I was working on my tax return...putting in my bitcoin related items!

If anyone finds themselves banned from the entire site (mining, web, etc) send me a PM. Either your computer is windows and has a virus and someone else is controlling it, or I accidentally banned you in among the 1275 computer botnet I banned over the last 2 hours. Also I will know which is the case Hi Kano, this security and hacking issues are quite widespread now and I am sure there are haters out jealous of the pool's success. Getting into kano system through its members devices are not far fetch. I am a Mac user and although much secure as compared to a Windows system, there are are also serious cases where Macs are also not spared from RAT hacker tools etc. Can you let us know what precautions do we need to take on the miners -- S7s in particular, and our desktops, network routers/wifi and smartphones. Thanks Bitmain hardware, by default, is set to allow anyone to log into it in 2 ways. They have a default password, which you need to change - like any miner. (and resetting it, puts that default password back in effect) The API allows anyone with network access to it, to change any settings, which of course includes the pool settings I don't have an S7 (and never want one) but that's how it is with all the earlier Bitmain miners and when I told Bitmain about it years ago they didn't care since that's how they want them configured by default for their own mining farms. So if anyone, anywhere, has network access to it (even another computer in a datacentre) then you need to work out how to change the API from W:0/0 to either R:0/0 or some other setting if you need remote API access to it.

I have two S7's and one of them whistles like a very big tea kettle - its really loud. You can hear that one miner above everything else. Anyone else have that issue?
On a side note, you can get a 3.5-4.0 terahash miner on ebay right now for under $300. Its a KNC Neptune - I spoke to the seller and he guarantees me that it has no bad dies. Now I know KNC is a four letter word around here, but is this a bad idea?
Reader's Digest version...Yes, and Yes. See my earlier post(s) on the S7s impersonating turbofan engines...and IMHO the preponderance of posts re KNC (and not only on this board) makes it a non-starter for me, in particular regarding hw reliability and mfr rep. There's a reason it's on sale for under $300. There are always unique reasons for that decision, however, which is why I'm running Bitmain when I'd prefer not to. I figure Avalon will be able to better the S7 overall before too long, and I'll switch then. EDIT: ...and listen to Kano re passwords, etc. He's right on.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

Anyone notice the block by shakhta2015, a 30THs miner with his first kano block!? I was on the phone with my mom and the texts started ringing in my ear!

Sigh, SG node dropped off again - lasted more than a minute so everyone failed over to their backups. Hash rate came back up as expected 5 mins later.
Was from 02:47 UTC for at least a minute or two and thus most miners reconnected from 02:54 UTC All OK again.

Yup, heard the beeping again... but this time I had to reboot because one of the S7 was giving me "2 blocks found" -- and I know that's impossible!!! Wow... block - way to go StevenD!

One of these days I will be finding a Bitcoin.
no worries im in the same boat. i check the best shares once a week. and best ive seen is 10 billion. i always toss the idea around to have one of the miners on solo pool but the lack of good shares keeps all my miners pointed to kano.is. and yes i know its luck but i seem to be on the bad side of luck.

Does it seem like the time between blocks is getting longer? On the network in general?
I know look at the average. I am more curious about a shorter term look. 21 days maybe?

according to the stats on the header of kano.is it shows 23 min between blocks Not really, quite the opposite hence why the projected diff is going up. If the block generation times were slow then it would be over 10m and trending toward a negative diff, but we are still projected at over 5% increase. Bitcoin Difficulty: 178,678,307,672 Estimated Next Difficulty: 187,988,569,390 (+5.21%) Adjust time: After 1369 Blocks, About 9.3 days Hashrate(?): 1,262,550,030 GH/s Block Generation Time(?): 1 block: 9.8 minutes 3 blocks: 29.5 minutes 6 blocks: 59.0 minutes Updated: 15:35 (2.1 minutes ago)

Do you think running my iron on a proxy would help to get more blocks? I have 4 s3's and one s7 running against one now, s7 got 36Gig best share.
