8 blocks a thing of beauty. Full ramp baby!

yeah I did nicely 2 big rental spikes and then I just added 5th in real gear.

I hit enough to pay for the spikes so a good day     but 10 blocks would be nice.

What is the record 9 or 10?

my count says 8 - love these block parties!

rentals are covered, a bit more BTC to the vault and to rental fund.

8 is the max I've gotten in a single day since I've been here...I think if we hit number 9 it will be a new record.

Edit:  I updated the math and the 8 boosted my rental account to 110.4% for the month...freaking awesome!

CKPool restart in 2 hours
08:15 UTC

Yep that affects miners.

This update is so I can start new ckpool run log files without having to restart ckpool itself
The current log file is exceptionally large and needs closing - it been running for 36 days Smiley

This will be a standard ckpool immediate restart so for the majority of miners, greater than 90%, should just see a reconnect.
Anyone else who fails over will reconnect as soon as their miner tries to reconnect.

After the pool restart, I'll also do a CKDB restart.
I need more log information to sort out the sequence number problem.
Seems my solution I worked out yesterday wasn't the solution, so I need more information from the live pool.

Lost another orphan race to the GFW Sad
We were 1.2s ahead of BWPool but Antpoo confirmed their block not ours.
N.B. BWPool is Bitmain

Edit: Update info on it.

Relay network times showing our block (hash 001759) and BWPool block (hash 0055a9)

us-east [2016-04-12 06:55:30.912+00] 001759 (kano.is)
us-west [2016-04-12 06:55:30.944+00] 001759 (kano.is)
eu [2016-04-12 06:55:30.951+00] 001759 (kano.is)
jpy [2016-04-12 06:55:30.980+00] 001759 (kano.is)

jpy [2016-04-12 06:55:30.996+00] 0055a9 (BWPool)
eu [2016-04-12 06:55:31.255+00] 0055a9 (BWPool)
us-west [2016-04-12 06:55:31.600+00] 0055a9 (BWPool)
us-east [2016-04-12 06:55:33.188+00] 0055a9 (BWPool)

So all BWPool after us, but it looks like yet again due to both blocks being very close in time when they were found, it was simply, yet again, china vs the rest of the world

Since china has over 60% of the BTC hash rate (controlled by 2 people) this shows, as I've stated on the forum multiple times, if you draw a line across a peer-2-peer network, the largest side of the line has the advantage, the GFW excuse used by F2Pool and Bitmain for SPV mining was a lie.

Both Blocktrail and Blockchain showed us as the winner, but they are also on the same side of the GFW as we are.
Blocktrail has corrected it, not sure about Blockchain but they're not reliable anyway.

Restart completed on all nodes and the nonce proxy.
About 5% of users failed over (40 out of 1080) and still have yet to reconnect.
I'm guessing that is probably a lot of rental hash? About 7PHs

CKDB restart will be about 19:15 or a bit after - when the first shift summary is done after the hour.
No miners will be affected by the CKDB restart.

Anyone wondering about what we have in china at the moment.

We have one node in HongKong but that appears to not really help much regarding block propagation.

I did have a node in mainline china for a few weeks, but the provider kept closing it down claiming it was using too many resources ...
It was only running a bitcoin node and our relay, but about once a day they'd shut it down.

I'm still looking into other resources there.

AWS looks to have something in China, but it isn't really clear what the deal is with it.  I don't know if it is really open to the public, or it is more private?

Yeah, servers in China isn't an easy one...  You need to convince Versaweb to set up shop there Smiley

CKDB restart all completed.
Required 2 restarts - a rollback to the current working version after a test run of the new version.
All ok again.

Is there a way to prevent Orphan blocks?  I know we see only about two a month, but still.

Thanks for your thoughts.

So what we are seeing here is the 51% rule in reality.  It doesn't matter who hits the block first, China just overrules everyone when they can and moves on.  The next step is to simply take over all found blocks.

Yep  it is an issue that will most likely kill off BTC sooner rather then later.

agreed. unfortunately this is human nature. They see it as a way to get rich quick and dont care who or what they screw over doing so. in what other industry does the producer of the product also consume it? kinda sounds like a dealer getting high off his own supply. (normally bad for business)

where does money come from in nature?  this is all man made construct that can be reversed.. but they have no incentive to "yet".. Let us see the price drop thru the floor and another coin take hold.. ohh wait they already mining eth too.  O well.. was  a great experiment anyway.
