CK and Kano do not have to lower their fees to get people to move here.  Think about it...

How will the one's you want to move here KNOW the fees are lowered UNLESS someone gets the word out AND those people happen to navigate to a website giving them the words to get them to move?

Plenty will move here based on current stats and fees without lowering fees IF people will take the time to get the word out like myself, Phil, and MANY others have done in the past.  Phil, created a couple of threads on the subject of moving.  I sent out approximately 150 PM's to different users on bitcointalk.org to get people to move here.  I'm quite certain several others have done the same.

The problem is getting people to move whom we cannot reach because they never navigate to bitcointalk.org or spend much time on any other websites with the news about CKPool.

Maybe one of us creative lot could design a "Come to Kano.is - Block parties every week!" - signature banner.

All kano.is members can use this signature, since many of us also roam around many threads in Bitcointalk.org.

I like it!  I'd totally chat-up kano ckpool in a sig gratis.  Kano-san and -ck deserve it!

I'll start by saying your username is definitely suitable for this pool since most here are addicted to "chicken."   

As for receiving an email confirmation after creating an account, I'm not sure.  I created an account in 2014.  I cannot remember if their is an email confirmation or not.  Maybe someone else can help you with this.  Kano, may be able to assist you.

I certainly like that.  It's a great idea!  I am an artist but I wish I knew how to create a signature banner for use in these forums.  My art is done with paint, charcoal, etc...  I have never done art on a computer.  I will be happy to use the signature here on bitcointalk.org if someone were to create one and provide it to others to use here in the forums.

What program can I use [Anyone] to create a signature banner for us to use?  Are the tools for creating a signature banner built within bitcointalk.org or is it better to use a particular graphic design program to upload to bitcointalk?  If so, what graphic design program does someone recommend for my Mac?  I do have the 12.9 inch iPad Pro as well.  I suppose I could buy the pen for it ($100.00 USD) to draw something on a graphic design program made for the iPad Pro.  I would not use it without the approval of Kano and CK of course.

Regarding the fee discussion--

I'm not in favor of increasing fees without good evidence that A) the orphans are a real problem and not just statistical variance [which I'm inclined to believe since we have a very good record overall], and B) that the fees will actually provide a solution if it is necessary.

You all got me started on rentals (to augment my own gear) which are very thin margin already.  An extra percent would greatly increase the risk enough to reconsider (reducing at a minimum).  The low fee is one thing which makes renting for this pool worthwhile.  Unlike hardware which has the ROI risk sometime off in the distant future (amazingly I did manage to make ROI + 30-some percent last year thanks in part to this pool), the ROI on rentals is quite evident immediately.  A percent on fees can quickly mean tens of percent cut from the margin.

As for trying to entice larger miners with reduced fees ... well ... that's already the case - our fees are the lowest for any medium/large pool since we include all the transaction fees also.
I avoid saying this as much as possible, but yeah luck here is good ... who knows if that will continue ... it has only averaged good for 1.5 years so far ... ... ...

Meanwhile ... yay 12 blocks in 1 day + 16 minutes ... and the hash rate is ... at the low end of the 30-40PH range ... oh well
We've had the hash rate at the high end of that 30-40PH range, so it's not like no one knows about the pool ...
(the 52PH high was from a failover)

kano - have you tried HK node instead - not sure if HK is spared of GFW being a business hub.

btw, I counted 6 orphans since birth of kano.is, 6 out of 792 blocks is miniscule so those orphan races will always be there - whats important is blocks and random luck factor, no?

Yes we have an HK node.

Yes the 6 orphans is small, but making it smaller would of course be better

Though indeed, looking at the pool luck, just, e.g. the last 250 blocks, of those 250, 111.56% means that we found 25.9 extra blocks i.e. we expected on average to find 224.1 blocks, but found an extra 25.9 (224.1 * 111.56% = 250)
So indeed the luck so far has WAY over-compensated for the very low orphan rate.

If Kano thinks there is a way to cut down on the orphans (or do any other improvements), I would vote to increase the fees.

Some quick numbers as an example:  

Say there are 2 orphans a month on average (the last month had 3).

Kano.is has had a total of 6 orphans since September 2014, so the average is more like 0.3 per month.

Right now, that is say $20,000 lost due to orphans (50 BTC ~ $400 each).  

Think of it this way:
Total the luck percentage of the orphan block and the good block after, that would be what you should comparing to.
Looking at the orphans that way:

2.686% + 97.620% = 100.620%
27.037% + 142.268% = 169.305%
44.215% + 85.159% = 129.374%
94.272% + 161.931% = 256.203%
55.342% + 72.247% = 127.589%
143.912% + 134.764% = 278.676%

None of those are really all that bad.

There has been about 37 blocks with a higher % than the highest one of those. And yet the pools total luck % is still 108%. The few orphans have had very little impact on anything. Spending money on reducing the number of orphans will not yield any significant increase on productivity. Yes it is something that is important, but unfortunately not as important as pure random luck. And I'm pretty sure Kano and ck are always working on this.

Right, so if you include those orphans in the total block count we have 792 + 6 = 798
6 out of 798 were orphans, 6/798 = 0.00752 = 0.752% of the blocks were orphans.
That is an extremely low number. Which, I believe, is proof that you and ck have created some extremely awesome code.  

Now I'm off to find out why my S4 stopped mining....

Wow! That was one awesome block day! This pool is awesome, -ck & Kano are the best, and the members here are awesome as well! I'll be suspending mining soon but I plan on coming back to this pool as soon as I can.
