Why would a restart affect anything?

Just curious...

It doesn't, but there have been enough coincidences where we found a block shortly after a restart that people joke about it. And of course some people believe correlation == causation but that's a separate discussion

Kano said it will not affect our miners...that's the main thing.  The web interface may look funky for a few minutes but it does not cause any problems.

Well guys, as much as I love mining with my one S7 (and this pool is awesome!!) , 14.5 cents per Kw is just too expensive for me to hang in there. It's really fun watching those payments come in, but alas, my little noise maker is now for sale on eBay via a 3 day auction.  Undecided

I will keep mining here until it sells and I hope to come back again after the halving if newer, more efficient hardware becomes available.

C'mon little S7! Crack a block for team Kano before you get packed up!

I'm getting low hash rate emails from CKPoolMonitor. Although my miners appear to be submitting shares.

Maybe a server component has fallen over again?

Thanks, my friend. Hopefully I'll get $700 and I'll only be down $200, but it was worth the fun!

I probably don't have to given that the restart you just did probably explains it. And of course the alert emails have stopped now.

Sorry that I was so quick on the trigger, but happened to be working on my computer when the emails came in.

Have you considered a colocation facility? It will cost you about $110 a month

It's the most efficient miner on the field, in terms of hash to electricity.
It will still be in the profit range for a while longer, esp on kano.is.

Short of bailing out, I thought i saw somewhere that you can probably run it at half power (non powered boards) to cut your electricity bill in half if that's the only part bothering you.   Still a nice upgrade from the S5 in that mode.

Have you already listed it on eBay?  You hope to get $700 but there will be $100 in eBay and PayPal fees.  Sending your S7 to a data center is a viable option.  I have my 7 S7s at Toomim Brothers in Washington state and I love it.  The $110 fee was way less than my electrical cost and I have direct control of all 7 machines (I'm in Virginia).  It also eliminated the cooling and noise problem I was having.  Jonathan Toomim and his team are top notch at the hosting business and I can highly recommend them.  And you can continue with our top notch team here on the kano pool!

What do they charge per Kwh? Also any setup or handling costs after the fact? I have a bunch at Sidehack but he's full now and need colo for 4 s7's and possibly 8 A6's. Just checking

I have a few at OregonMines besides sidehack's, OM charges $97 for 8+ batch or $88 for B7 or lower S7s. No other fees except for onetime VPN setup fee.

Yes, I looked into that, but never found one as low as $110. Costs me about $130 in my house, so I just turns lights off & don't run the dishwasher  Cheesy
It earns about $6/day but it costs me $4 to run it. When halving comes I'll be losing money or break even at best (unless btc price goes up and/or transaction fees go up). Figure I should cut losses now and see what things look like after the halving. Thanks for the suggestion, though. BTW, my miner is named johnboy21 here on Kano. Just hit 5Th - woo hoo!

Be careful with Ebay.
I got hosed with my last S7, Batch 6 when a buyer off there, got it, hooked it up and promptly fried one board, then got me screwed by starting a claim  / return. He got all his money back and I got hosed and am stuck with a miner running on 2 boards.
Ebay screws sellers and aholes on there scam all the time.
