While it's obvious that I never really looked into the inner workings of a hash. So I will not comment on the statistics. However part of the problem with the conflicts are the people that continue to comment on products they have never owned. It may be time for everyone to self reflect. Who knows. You might find your own pinhole camera views.
I wasn't referring to the statistics, and you know it. But, for your benefit only, I've owned/mined with a total of 42 machines since 2009:

A 2004 HP laptop
Three different GPUs
Spondoolie
S1
S2
S3
S5
S7
A6
A721

So, yeah...I can speak to that. Probably with more akamai (look it up), but that's a subjective assumption...

If folks here criticize Bitmain, it is almost always because of their own hard (as in documented) experience with inadequate build QA, apparent lack of burn-in, poor (or in some cases nonexistent) customer communication/support, and a demonstrated record of disrespecting other people's intellectual property. If Bitmain, or their apologists, would like to see that change, all that's needed is to get their act together.

And...your assumption that reporting you makes me feel good somehow is just indicative of (IMHO...legal stuff there) Axis II status. It was to wake up cgmaxwell and other admins to actually read their inboxes occasionally. Kano knows what I refer to. I gotta go for a while now...need to make a new foil hat 'cuz mine got rained on last night and got all contaminated...  Kiss

EDIT...actually meant to get genie's quote in there as well...NOW I'm done...gotta go buy another roll of Reynolds...glad I bought stock in them when the paranoia began....

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

I guess I need to add to the documentation then.

19 s9: no problems at all.
15 s7: no problems at all. (Although I do not own these anymore since they are no longer profitable.)
Who knows. I guess I should play the lottery with all this luck. Or maybe I am a mining whisperer. And just will these machines to never to fail. On other thoughts. The more people that bad mouth them and convince other people not to buy. The more miners for me to buy. So please. Forget everything I have said. I am going to go and get more money.

Mine at Jonny's Pool

My Bitmain hardware experience...

S1 - solid as a rock.  Had them overclocked at 200GH each and they hummed along happily with no issues ever.
S2 - delicate.  If you managed to get units undamaged, and if you didn't manage to blow up the crap PSU it came with, and if you had perfect temperatures, and if you didn't look at it the wrong way, and if you didn't mine on p2pool, then it would work.
S3 - flaky. They were finicky as hell, and you had to find the "sweet spot".  Some hashed at advertised speeds, some hashed lower, others higher.  Once you found that sweet sport, they were pretty solid.  Occasional "x" that a cold boot would solve.  Random occasional restarts.  They definitely lasted forever (I have 8 in my basement that still hash when I power them up).
S5 - lousy.  They'd hash solid for a bit, then start to fail.  Random "x" and "-" would appear.  Then the entire board would crap out.  Sometimes a full cold boot would fix things for a bit.  Other times, nothing would work.

I never owned any Bitmain gear after the S5.  Their garbage software hacks combined with their blatantly misleading and false claims on their pools was enough to keep me away.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

...When the resale value exceeds the reasonable expectation of what you can possibly mine with the device - you should get rid of it (or not buy it to begin with) - wouldn't you agree? Unless it's a hobby. In which case none of the ROI talk matters anyway.

To coin an '80s phrase, "There ain't no half steppin'!"
When the resale value of S9s exceed what one can get out of them, either: you don't own enough of them; a more efficient rig has been put on the market (and you're going to dump S9s on some broke n00b); or you have no future vision of the value of BTC

If one S9 is not profitable then more of them won't be profitable either, all other things being equal.

A more efficient rig is not always the answer. The difference in price and the cost of kWh might not justify an upgrade.

To gamble on "future vision" you could just buy or short BTC outright. IMHO a profitable mining project should be able to make more BTC than was put into it regardless of BTC future value.

I don't know about you but, my ROI is 4.87 months. Is that good enough?

Good for you. Is that something you've already achieved or hoping to achieve? Currently an S9 can mine ~0.28 BTC per month so to mine its cost of 1.3-1.5 BTC in ~5 months you would need free electricity without difficulty increase.

it's not because your 19 machines are running fine that the entire number of units produced represent the EXACT PERFECT behavior as yours.

19 units over the thousands produced. Call it luck if you want. Call yourself a god ... whatever

It's just plain stupid to ignore all the boards failures and tell us we are stupid to ignore the S9 because your SMALL sample size represent the entire universe failure ratio of the S9.

It's just plain irrational.

I own S7 and I was "lucky" enough to have no issues at all BUT I also recognize that other S7 running next to mine got failures.

When I ask friend owning like 20 times the amount of S9 you have and they are telling me they have around 10% failure. Trust me, I trust those numbers.

How hard it is to get that point ?

But no, i'm stupid.

...
Makes me think of the phrase "cognitive dissonance" and something about pots and kettles.  Undecided

English isn't my first language.

The point is 19 units is nothing over the thousand units produced and you cannot conclude anything based on that.

That's the point. I'm sure you got it but you have to make re-write it just to make looks stupid.

...

And your friend having 40 issues out of 400 units makes the units bad as a whole?

Did you ever went through their RMA process or took the time to read about it ?

I'm sure you do... but you needed to ask the question just to make me look foolish again.

If you're fine that, it's your problem but it is unacceptable for me. This is where you and I will never agree.

You do what the fuck you want with your money but don't try to make us like idiots because YOU think it is right for you.

Yeah right 10% failure with an horrible RMA process and a 90 days warranty.

that's what a call a great deal buddy.

Herb  please don't feed the troll.

he is here to attack Kano and ck  just look at the % of posts he posts on those threads.  His first 16 posts were all on ck's thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=861346;sa=showPosts;start=360

more then 100 of his 176 posts are on ck and kano's two threads.

He is not stupid he is a very clever troll.

@ the genie   please leave us alone  as most of us are too old for this and it raises our blood pressure too. much.

I have mad respect for you  your first post back in July was a  brilliant  insult  of me and you are almost as good as the greatest troll of all (for bitcointalk.org) seriouscoin.

I humbly ask you to leave us alone and instead attack either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton via twitter.  Most of us can not handle your brillant wit and hard ass tactics   we take the bait and get angry.  On behalf of this thread I beg you   very humbly no mas! no mas!

....

he is here to attack Kano and ck...

I defy you to find even one time I've "attacked" ck!

I love you man even when I have surrendered and asked for no mas  you still attack.

I guess you   want me to rate you above the late great  forum member .   seriouscoin  may he rest easy now that he decided to no longer troll the forum.

I have a suggestion  you should read his posts  some of the most brilliant attacks ever made on this forum.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=54366;sa=showPosts

here are all his posts read up study and maybe you can  learn to attack as he did.  I had classic battles with him in my difficulty threads.  truly great banter back and forth.  You could learn from a master such as him.

Me I am just a cook.  In fact I am just going to start cooking some turkey soup in a few minutes.

your first post ever made.  true brilliance

your second post ever made just as smart
I gave it a shot...  I chickened out and went back to the pool after just over a day...

Yeah, because that how it works best!
And people really wonder why so many stick with AntPool? Huh

I am serious  you are a quality troll   both posts show an attack against miners using ck's pool.  Thus discouraging   miner to shoot the breeze on the pool  .

thus   making less mining on the pool.

You are very good at your techniques  of attacking  people  it is why I  love you  quite a bit you know.  I admire people with your skill set of making people get angry.

OK deleted a lot of crap Tongue

Tournamentdan, I've left one or 2 of your posts with you stating numbers about your luck with miners.
You seem to want to tell everyone that they don't have miners that they do have, and that they don't have problems with them when they have had, then that they should be happy with those problems coz that's normal.
Waste of posts doing that coz, yeah, I'll just delete them.

No my only problem is when people make comments about the reliability  on a miner that they never owned. For example you have. And of course others. And try keeping the Linux and windows thing down. As I said in a post that you deleted. It only pushes people away.

Another fine example of Kano putting a spin on what's posted, distorting it away from what it actually is.

You are truly a person to be admired for persistent attacks here.

I am pretty interested in you and your motivations.  As you know by now I just a cook and I am making some turkey soup as I type this post.

Why do you shower kanos thread with so much attention.  Kano has a small pool. Under 30ph not much money involved. Why all the attention to us? In fact. You are heating up the attention now that we had a really bad NOVEMBER with a worse DECEMBER.  The pool is under 1% of the entire network so why bother?

I would love to know the why?

I have nowhere claimed that a person that does have an s9 doesn't. Nor did I ever say a person did not have any problems. You don't see me making any claims on a A6 or A7 or whatever miner. Simply because I never owned one of those models. That's the way it should be. I was not rude or post false claims. Put my posts back or you are only proving what type of totalitarian you are.

Because I actually asked to others miners/friends, who own way more units then you, make their experience with the product false and irrelevant ?

Ho wait, I shouldn't talk about the S9, I don't own one since the S1-S3-S4-S5-S7 are irrelevant while talking about the S9.

Ho wait, I shouldn't talk about the S9, I don't own one since the S1-S3-S4-S5-S7 are irrelevant while talking about the S9.
Yup.
As I stated before. Just because I own a ford explorer doesn't mean I know how a ford Mustang performs.
Sorry bud I don't know you. Anybody can say I got friend with a bunch of s9's.  Therfore it makes it hearsay. And should not be used.
