Hello all, super noob here. I have a wallet set up on laptop for view only, and cold wallet set up on a usb drive using Electrum wallet as I couldn't quite get the bitcoin core to work without downloading the full blockchain. I have my seed wrote down on paper, my public master key on another usb drive, and with the my view only wallet on this laptop. Hopefully be getting my pdu and power cables tomorrow and join my 3 s9's into the pool. Is there anything I'm missing or should do differently? Thanks in advance.

Um, you gotta wait for the payout transaction to be confirmed. To simplify my answer, that will be when we get the next block. See Help->Payouts

I have read in some posts that there is quite a bit of time wasted between when you point your miners to the Kano pool and when they actually begin mining. Is this true? If so why is that?

Well, not much point when we get rewards for blocks found ... and we don't even get them daily at the moment. Craphash is PPS, so rewarded by shares submitted, so they have to make some break point to define rewards, this is PPLNS rewarded only when blocks are found They're also the worst luck source of mining on the pool - now worse than the S9v1s ... I guess I should modify things to just always automatically block them ... soon.

Nope - consider them false statements by whoever is making them, or someone with tiny miners complaining about pointing them at a normal pool. You see your shares arriving on the workers page immediately - there's no delay showing shares arriving at the pool. Of course if you point a tiny 2GHs miner at the pool it will take it, on average, 2hrs 16minutes to find it's first share ... An S3 which is about 440GHs, would of course take, on average, about 37 seconds to find it's first share. An S5 which is about 1100GHs, would take, on average, about 15 seconds to find it's first share. An S7 which is about 4800GHs, would take, on average, about 3.4 seconds to find it's first share. The point of these numbers is that the starting diff is (currently) set at 4098. It's set at that for a reason - it's easy to disrupt (or even effectively shut down) a pool that has a low starting diff or even allows a low diff when mining ... if you understand how that works - yes even antpool I wont explain how to do it, but it is simple enough on any pool. The settings I use here work fine with current hardware and previous generation hardware. If you use older hardware it's a bit longer to find your first share, or if you use tiny USBs then you'll find they take a long while to find shares. However, it's not wasted time, it's simply that shares are worth more at 4098 diff, than at 1 diff, of course, so you'll get them at a rate that is appropriate for your hardware. Oddly enough, we don't reward a 2GHs miner the same as a 14THs miner

I use them for monitoring and alerts if there is an issue with the miners. I know a couple others here do as well. Nice to get a text message when one of your miners goes offline.

4000+ dollars. I refuse to pay that much for a miner. I'll stick with trying to get Antminers for 1450 or whatever they were last round.

The price for the latest S9 batch was 2320 USD.
I would really like to see Canaan with more competetive price vs. Bitmain.
They would deserve to have a bigger market share.

Uh, no. When you are mining you are mining. Care to elaborate on what exactly your talking about? Or are we supposed to play the guessing game as to what your talking about? I never liked charades. I've read in numerous posts, that anywhere from 24 hrs to over a week before you begin getting credited any BTC. One excerpt I had saved.. However, unlike Kano's pool, there is no 'unpaid dust' on ckpool. Kano's pool has a ramping up time period he calls 'dust mining'. In three years, he has not paid out that dust to most of the people mining it. So, is this true? How long is this dust mining period? I also have read that if you have low hash rate you are not getting the same payout rate as those with large hashrate (on a per TH basis)

No, they were back down to normal at least when I checked yesterday. Well, they were 1450 I think not 1240 like they used to be. I had only seen them once really high. But lord knows I don't always see them for sale

Feel pity for him, for he has no better thing to do in his life that make up stories to make himself feel good about himself
