the boards on my S9s are running at 90+ degrees... this can't be too good, can it?
That’s not good. Power down the miner and see what’s causing the issues, are all the chains running at 90+? If need be, let them cool off and underclock the miner when it powers back on. You should post this in mining support but a status page on the miner would help too. Make sure you have ventilation and whatever mode of ventilation you have is not obstructed. Could be the cause.

How can one pool get 7 out of 9 blocks in 37 minutes wow
I saw that too... If we could only get 7 blocks a day! I would .... retire... Edit: Did some math 115.8414 BTC awarded 12.5x7 = 87.5 115.8414-87.5 = 28.3414 28.3414 X 14500 US = 410950.30 THEY STOLE FROM THIER MINERS! In 37 minutes! Pricks! Highway Robbery!! Your math should help other people decide which pool to mine at lol Just think how much they steal each day, week, month, year. Billions right out of the pockets of their miners and thier miners love them for it. It's the damnedest thing I've ever seen! ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif)

Could be the cause. i am very much aware of the cause. i do not have proper ventilation. i am currently running 20 machines in 3 different spaces, but it is still just a temporary solution. i am in the process of finalizing a deal for a large space in a warehouse, where i can easily handle 100+ machines, which is the plan by the end of the year. i am just concerned weather i am damaging the current machines in their not-so-ideal environment.... for now, i'll try to play with the settings in order to bring down the temperatures... -what should be the max acceptable temperature on each board?

The last block we found, my N Avg was only 3.22 THs. I suspect, that only my one S7 was ramped up at this time. Now that I am contributing ~16 THs to the pool, when we find the next block, should my N Avg be roughly 16.00 THs? Is it that simplistic or more complicated?
Thanks, Aaron

Just let it run continuously for a month you'll see what happens. My S7 NAvg now is at 4.35TH. It was something like 1.71TH at the beginning moving to 2.85TH after awhile. Same in Shift Graph.. it's now 4.05avg, from 2.0+avg then 3.0+avg. Now I understand about ramp period ... so will you. The longer you mine in Kano the bigger is the reward because of that ramping period. Patience is virtue indeed. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Mine on!

Any info on problems with fan speeds on the s9? Got 3 hooked up today, been running 4.5hours now, and one of them likes to ramp up the fans to 6k rpm even though the temps are fine. Maybe a bad firmware? Also one of them is throwing .266% invalid/stale shares but this is below the pool avg so from what I understand thats pretty normal and will level out as I complete the ramp up period. Thanks for the help
I have one that goes from 4k to 6k every few minutes - or at least it did when it was SLIGHTLY warmer than it is now. (I mean by 2-4 degrees) I upgraded to "File System Version Fri Nov 17 17:57:49 CST 2017" in hopes of it correcting, but it didn't. The highest chip temp is currently 76 and it no longer ramps up and down - however, I have no doubt that when the temps get back up to 78 it will resume the up and down. What is your highest chip temp on your S9 that is spinning at 6k?

What is your highest chip temp on your S9 that is spinning at 6k? That seems to be the issue I'm having, that 77-79 degree chip temp kicks up the fan. We have decent 60 degree weather today so I opened the doors up and got the chip temps down, all fans running fine. I did notice that my file system is Jul version, while the one with no problems is Nov version. The logic version is also different, S9V2.23 with the high running fan, and S9_V2.54 on the one with no problem. 2 out of the 3 miners have and older file and different logic. One of the 2 with the older versions runs up to 6k, while the other runs 5.5-5.8k. Where the one with no problems and the newer file versions throws two or three times as many invalid (EDIT, the one with new files and logic has no issues, least invalids and coolest running. Lol. Been running a little under 24hrs so I'm still new and learning.

I have one that does that as well and have seen multiple posts be individuals attempting to fix it. I have never had an issue with the machine and have never bothered with it. Is it because the sound? Worried about extra running cost with electricity?

The only problem I have with the issue is the fan may die while I sleep and I end up burning my boards, I have seen multiple posts, but not a sure fix. It will add extra cost, but mainly just it not running 100% as it should, I'm already ocd enough and different board temps are enough, hahaha. As long as the boards stay cool, my worry is just the wear and tear on the fan. Still learning

Still learning the miner will shutdown when the temp is high. i had an issue where the AC went down and all miners did shutdown at 100 deg. the lower you cool the lower you get exhausted heat.

I had temp issues recently also..- -35 Celsius outside and my 14x S9's struggled to keep the workshop above 40 Farenheight...some temps of units near floor level were down to low 40's also...fans down to <2500 RPM on many units. Awesome miner on average reports temps much higher than miner itself...
Units will often refuse to boot/ re-boot if too cold ( <55 Farenheit ) When cleaning some units....I noticed many of the aluminum cooling fins had caved in and were touching each other....I GENTLY CAREFULLY pried them apart to restore proper separation for dissipation.
I got my Jan units several weeks early also (Purched in Early Nov).....
One of my 3... 14 Theta units is a dog that can barely hold down 13.6.
Pissed I missed the last two batch sales...I was on the site with account open and plenty of BCH ready for 4 units with PSU's pre-selected and refreshing madly....... ...... but they never came available fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
did manage 1 each for previous two releases but one was EXPENSIVE!!! (So 16 by march + 4 by ?)

I am going nowhere. I was here last month for a short period and left with the intentions of coming back after adding more hash power. I have more than doubled what I had and I am here to stay for at least a few months.
Looking forward to that new block!
Happy Mining!

The VH app? It should only require your API key and username. The BTC address is if you're mining on ck's solo pool.

Hi all, Thought it was finally time to introduce myself here. I´ve been lurking since mid-November trying to get up to speed with mining, having given up on it back in 2014. I dragged some of my old kit out of storage and managed to get a small amount of hashing power running (900GH/s) just to kick things off. In November I ordered a couple of S9´s, and in December a couple of A741´s, and they all arrived the beginning of the week. Have the Avalons up and running now, but the S9´s are just too noisy. I´ll have to look at some sort of soundproofing for those. If I can get my hands on some more miners I will look for a dedicated hosting space where noise won´t be a problem, but in the meantime I´m stuck using our empty apartment. Thankfully no neighbours at the moment. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Not expecting to get rich from this endeavour, just having fun, and hopefully making a bit of money on top. PS. Meant to add, that this is the friendliest mining pool I have ever come across. A really friendly and helpful group of folks.
