Greetings everyone.  I am added 4 s9 miners in at the beginning of the month.  And have been loving this lucky streak. I have capacity to add to about 10 more s9 miners.  But am having a hard time getting my hands on them for a decent price.  Does anyone have a good source?  Or does anyone have more machines than they have capacity for.

Mine on.  Great pool & community.

Hi, I have 5x S9 coming ~21Feb that is looking for a electrical feed. At the moment there is interest but will make contact if still available.

I've been looking to add some more S9s to my minifarm.  I tried to pull the trigger in last night's sale for 10 units, but my order ultimately failed.  However, I came across the below calculator this morning and it has given me great pause.  It shows that the difficulty level is ramping up so fast that they will never be profitable.  Where do you guys stand on this?  I'd really like to hear where you guys think all of this is headed.

the four biggest factors are the -difficulty increase rate, -electricity cost, - $/TH cost, -Bitcoin price change.
Only one you can control is electrical cost, so if yours is lower than most then you should outlast most. The others you have to take a longterm guess in my view.

You are assuming the price of Bitcoin is going to stay forever at today's price?

Also, those calcs almost always base it on 12.5 BTC when in reality it's been greater than that (14-18 or even 19 BTC if you're really lucky).

I have been burned both ways so I think it's really whatever's clever for you. My current policy is just to cash out enough for my electric and keep everything else. If I can make it to the next halvening then I feel like prices will skyrocket at that point. I will set what I call milestones and sell a portion at those. For example, 15k, 20k, etc. I won't sell all, I won't sell half, just enough to knock out a dent in some debt my lovely wife and my terrible spending habits have brought upon. Again, to each their own. One of the main reasons I mine on PPLNSG is so I don't get tempted to spend it a little at a time. It takes longer to accrue, but I get it in larger chunks. That's where my head is at.

Same as well.  Take a little bit out for electrical/hosting, and let the rest ride.  Kind of happy now that I sold some for miners...would have taken more $BTC to accomplish that now.

and I too am a newb!!!  I will change that right away - if I can figure it out.  Also, I have the rewards thing working a little better now - plus saving the file you upload so I can fix things without bugging you.

did anyone order through bitmain on the last s9 batch and see how the USD wire transfer worked??   Specifically how much time do they give you to transfer the money to them?  half hour? ahahah  Banks are closed!

Just so I know If I should do a BCH or USD wire to them if I have enough time, the exchange rates fluctuate so much its sometimes 200-250 more than straight USD sent to them.

Its gotta be more than a half hour for the USD though.

Thanks,  I tried to get 4 last night, but eventually out of stock.    I would be paying the next day if USD, just to make sure its done fast.  My caclulations between exchanging for CND to BTC vs Cnd to USD was Better for me to do straight to USD since it was about 300 cnd more PER s9 if I paid in BTC.   part due to the exchange I was using and what bitmain uses as their exchange rate for BTC too.

You are assuming the price of Bitcoin is going to stay forever at today's price?

It seems less about the price and more about the difficulty.  If you click on the chart and change it to "coins generated" and look at it over 24 months, it basically shows that you will be generating next to nothing by month 12.

It's been showing that nothing is profitable like that since I started mining with only a hammer and chisel Cheesy

It's all speculation.

you are 100% in asking the question and difficulty change play a big part in this. The thing I am taking into consideration - for the difficulty to increase by 10% or 20% per month the network has to add that % hashing power. Now with an estimated 16-17Eh in the network... calculate the number of S9s needed to do that. It will plato imo but continue going up. How much ? Who knows.

edit: also keep in mind that other SHA-256 coins take some of the hashing produced.

That's a fair point.  However, I wonder if the hashing power won't grow at that rate or even higher.  With all of the ASICs in the market and more powerful and plentiful ones coming, it isn't hard to imagine the network growing exponentially.

As long as they can help solve a few blocks, I'm quite alright with that.

Thats another  reason PPLNS 5nd is good for the dedicated user

also on a side note current pricing for the 821 is up and down but delayed again, I think I will definitely be getting a few.

This pool has the best community.

I have one of Sidehack's hacked S7s (which used to be in Fuzzy's mine) running in my office again - at least another 3th/s to the pool!

Running in one of phillipma's silencer boxes.

I haven't seen one of these silencer boxes. Does it actually kill out some of the noise? Must be nice to mine at work. Welcome back (if you ever left). I joined up with one S9 4 or so days ago. I've got one here, one at BitMinter and two at Slush trying to get enough to cover the electric cost for the 4 miners for the month. Once that happens I'll probably bring another miner here and another to BitMinter. I love both pools, but I'm always nervous to have all my eggs in one basket. Glad to see the blocks popping, and I'd like to think I brought a little luck with me Wink

I'm also not advertising or advocating for BitMinter over Kano or any other pool. Like I said, I'm loving this community so far even though I've been here four days.

This community has been very active so far and I love getting insight from other miners. Not too many in my area here in Arkansas.
