That was fast - barely had a chance to test the failover!
That is ok with me. Time for that block now.

So - a warning in advance for once (recently) about a restart I'll be restarting the main work generator back end, in about 9 hours at 23:30 UTC Everyone will failover to their 3rd pool - yeah your 2nd pool SHOULD be another kano.is node - so you SHOULD failover to your 3rd You'll fail back pretty quickly, though ckpool takes about 5 minutes to restart properly, so it can take up to 10 minutes to fail back properly. This will affect everyone mining on every node. (It's not an update, or anything, it just needs a restart soon) Mine on Reminder - in 2.5 hrs Restart was 23:30:01.8 UTC Reconnects started again at 23:34:12.5 All good.

I think BTC is about done with it's downward trend. It hasn't touched it's low in over a week if I'm reading it right. A 1/3 value adjustment after that landmark runup is healthy for the overall market.
Let's get some discussion started about immersion cooling. I think that it may be a way to bring old equipment back into the fold, as well as bring operating costs down. I picked up a cheep S4 as my entry into mining and realize, that once heating season is over, I'll likely need to turn it off unless I can cut some corners on power consumption. I can run it half the year here, just as supplemental heat no matter how sad it's coin finding becomes. I think nearly 225w of my unit's overall 1300 is fans. With half a dozen empty aquariums in my basement, and a Sam's card where 20gal of vegetable oil will cheep... I can't help but wonder if oil cooling isn't the answer.
I plan on trying it out on some old equipment next month. Just an old mobo and old NVidia card that can just barely mine ZEC with it's memory/cuda count.... a 550ti I think. I will share my results.

Good luck, keep us in the loop at your cooling attempt. $BTC will move back up here as the last futures contract expired on Friday I do believe. We can see some upward momentum here.

And I'm back. I'm sure I wasn't missed. Decided to take the opportunity of the blip to do some movement of equipment. Am I the only one who absolutely hates to turn the rigs off for anything? Took me 2 1/2 hours but should be worth it in the long run. They are now officially in my wind tunnel. Now let find a block!

Consolidate your transactions with the low fees!
Indeed - don't wait for the next run of high fees then complain about them Do it! Do it now! I did and it was confirmed very quickly even with the low fees. Now is the time to consolidate all of your small payouts to another wallet you own! I was going to ask about this very thing... I have had several payments into one address. But I keep hearing of this consolidation. What is exactly meant by it and what benefit is there, or negative if its not done? I know it means to move the funds to another address or wallet ID, is it simply to put them in one block so that when its moved its not being moved from many blocks over the past couple months and that ads up to more fees? Ie satoshi's per kb.. I have had all the payments for blocks on kano since dec 10, and about 1 each week from Nov 21 from Nicehash... except for that last one :-) Thanks. It's cheaper to move one "unit" that is 1 BTC vs 100 "unit"s that total 1 BTC. As an fyi, minergain is still showing the mempool at 125MB, so still terrible - however there have been errors with blockchain.info overnight, so that may be part of why lower transactions that have been sitting there longer are getting through. It never hurts to consolidate and www.minergain.com/faq.html#btctxfees will give you some options. I always go about half of the weekly value and would try .00005 BTC/Kb. Be sure to check the option to change the fee later if that is a setting in your wallet. Thanks, followed your advice and consolidated with a .00005 BTC/Kb fee, got confirmed in less than 5 days.
