I was looking at my worker shift information and noticed that in a few shifts the, Inv Diff had a 0. Should I be concerned? Huh

You want it to be 0....that means no invalids!

Probably?  No, at this moment it's actually 100% from now, so 278% expected.  But that, of course, changes everytime you want to do the calculation since the 100% doesn't change, but the current diff of the pool keeps rising...  Shocked

What don't our miners understand about 100% being expected?! We literally 'expect' it.

While we wait, we might as well dance, Dance, DANCE!!!

Welp, my first hardware wallet arrives tomorrow, so I'll be downloading the live CD ISO file to initialize everything on an air-gapped machine--after I go through that whole hash verification process, that is...

I looked into Bitcoin Core too as FireTreeActual mentioned. I might use a combination of paper, hardware, and software just for the fun of it.

Edit: ISO downloaded... Just gotta wait for the desktop back since we're signing a new lease to move in the near future--I heard this helps finding new blocks. Grin

I tried to use my 450 dollar coupon on a V9, but the minimum order Quantity was 5  Guess no free V9 for me!
Even for free, the V9 would not be worth it (unless you have free electricity).

Edit: Still wouldn't be worth it - forgot about the shipping + import tax that you'll be hit with.

Yeah.  I have enough coupons I could buy some for $16, but likely they will charge $70+ for shipping.  Almost afraid to order anything in fear they will jack their per-unit shipping up to $100+...

Suppose, for the good of the community, I should check that out.  Will report back.

They said their shipping rates have gone down.  I also have only ever paid the 5% GST tax.  I have never been charged any Duty, even the time I went into the Customs office myself to declare the one high value shipment.  I always used DHL, never any duty, just $14.00 cnd for fee and whatever the 5% tax is.  Yet, everyone complains about UPS.. umm yeah.. Its UPS they have been doing that for decades.

Get 20% VAT plus other fees in UK, had 3xS9 delivered last week Fed Ex wouldn't release till I paid over £900 in fees!!!

Been playing around with the Kano calculator and realizing how bad off some of the last generation miners are.

Was everybody just running these things at a loss when Bitcoin wasn't $19k?! Huh

The catch with core is that you shouldn't run it on a windows computer.
So many viruses, key loggers (microsoft logs all your key strokes also), and general problems that it's just not worth the risk.
Bitcoin is of course big time now and a clear target for people to try and hack your wallet.

For a hot wallet, it really is best to run a small i3 16GB RAM PC with Ubuntu on it just for the wallet and put nothing else on there.
Leave it running as long as there's not 10's of BTC on it, and use that to pay for things as required.

Wow, I never expected so much good advice in one response--thank you!

And just like that, it looks like I'm getting back into Linux. My first exposure was probably around the same time as you, but obviously, I didn't stick with it--I barely knew what drivers were back then (let alone writing my own just to get stuff to work).

I'm sure I still have my first Linux CD, though. When I find it, I'll post a pic. Grin

Just to manage expectations out there for those still ramping up, if you've been mining here this whole block (<~200%), and we crack this thing soon, your payout might "seem" less than you're expecting if you don't have a strong understanding of how the 5Nd works. (Maybe Padrinogtr can explain it to you Grin)

Just have faith in the fact that we all wouldn't have stuck around after the delayed gratification of the ramp up period if it wasn't worth it. Plus, you don't lose anything during the ramp up.

Trust me: It pays to mine here. Cool
