Dang that's a bummer NotFuzzy. A good R4 is like a unicorn; you've heard about them but don't really see them! Even my R4B2 is mostly R2B2 anymore with only one board that consistently hashes. Might need to do another cleaning. the good unicorn is the first batch of T9. I have few and since running non stop. 2 of them once made 183 days straight.

I picked up 3 T9's from batch-3 and ja - good machines aside from being power hungry. All of course running 24x7x365 with just 1 fan failure until last month when 1 went into huge HW errors on all 3 boards. Replaced with an A841 of course. Starting to get quite a pile of s9 carcasses to stash at work... Since it looks like s9's can now be hacked to allow freq and Vcore adjustment, wonder if Sidehack might be interested in me donating them to him for making into fairly quiet & efficient heaters like we did with the slew of s7's I had... Here Blockie Blockie!!!!

LOL,
Yes, I have some S7LNs that I used for heating last winter. Since my bride likes to run an electric heater and since she likes a fan blowing near her face while she sleeps and since she also likes a lot of "white" noise to help with her tinnitus a S7LN fits the bill well.

Good morning (CDT), all. Um ... I didn't wake up to a BTClock - I danced all night; who wasn't dancing? I'm one of the lucky ones. I have an A741 running in the kitchen @ volt level 11, -2 offset (fan never goes above 4k RPM). Gf doesn't seem to mind at all. Especially when she sees the wallet balance. She gets happy then. Edit: And she like the blinky lights on the USB miners, lol. Gin on! Dance on! Mine on!

the good unicorn is the first batch of T9. I have few and since running non stop. 2 of them once made 183 days straight. So is the T9+ more reliable than S9? It is cheaper per TH for expansion and faster ROI at current prices?

Not sure I agree. Feels more like marketing to me. Both of my original T9s died within weeks, although their replacements have been stable.

Both of my original T9s died within weeks, although their replacements have been stable. It's probably just luck with what you get. My best BM equipment (after S5s) were four S7 Batch 1 Ants. I got them in September 2015 when the S7 first came out and they ran trouble free up until I retired them in April to get all my equipment up to the latest efficiency models. They were 4.86 models and were rock solid. Not so much for the subsequent S7s and S9s...those have been more trouble than they were worth. Nothing but 841s or newer for me from now on.

<snip> Nothing but 841s or newer for me from now on. Ditto. My A841 replacements from Blokforge for the dead R4 and s9 should be here on Monday. That leaves just 8 s9's and 1 R4 in the farm and will put me @ 22 Avalons ranging from 721's though mostly 841's.

+1 on the Avalons....although it took me awhile to figure out that damn raspberry pi! That was one thing that the antminers had better IMO (but you had to do it for each machine).

I do not have S9 running. Only some remaining stable S7 which hashes just fine after the first few died out. What do you mean by smoother? Meaning it hashes days on end and chip status does not end up xxxxxx?

Somehow I've been around for half a year and am just hearing that Antminers don't need a RPi to control it... Mind = Boom
