From slack:

To daniel (Exodus) you said that shapeshift support is key for integrating a coin in Exodus. But if the Factom blockchain shows to be stable enough and the latest updates seem to be really good, why would you wait for Shapeshift in that case? If the blockchain is stable I think you will already make a lot of fct holders very happy that want to get their coins away from polo. Most don't care about not being able YET to use the shapeshift API within Exodus to change FCT into another coin. If I really can't wait to trade I will do it on Polo. But it would already make many holders feel so much happier if they can take these coins off the exchange. I totally understand the issues you will get when the blockchain isn't stable, but why letting a third party like shapeshift decide about when you add a coin. Just being a trustworthy wallet is already great!

[3:20]
From Daniel (Exodus): Thank you for your comments. I wish it was as simple as that. For Exodus, it is vital we do everything we can to protect our users. The unfortunate reality is the Factom network has been unreliable for quite some time. We will not just watch a few weeks of stability  and just trust everything will be okay. This trust will take months to build back up. As a business decision I would love nothing more than to release Factom and have things just magically work 100% of the time. That would be awesome for Exodus and we would have something to show for all the resources, hours, and money we have put into FCT development.

As you know Factom released another upgrade a few days ago. Just a few days after we installed the previous upgrade. That is yet another entire new set of code to test, deploy and begin to see how it work on the Exodus servers.

You are in our Factom beta program and you have access to the latest beta yourself. There will be no changes to the code on the Exodus side from the beta you have access to and the real deal. The only change is keeping the Factom network stable and sound.

If you don’t trust the beta you have with your Factoids that should tell you something. We can not in good faith release Factom and hope for the best. The unfortunate reality is we are still a long ways off from Factom support. Exodus needs to see the Factom network solid and 100% stable for a few months before we begin to think about moving forward.

[3:20]
To Daniel (Exodus): Thanks for answering. I do trust the beta. It was more a question in general about shapeshift requirement. So, basically you still say that as soon as you (Exodus) have trust in the stability of the Factom blockchain, that you are good to go? Regardless whether Shapeshift has FCT or not?
wow dealing with huge corporations but having unreliable  network ?

Well, I think someone should make step by step guide for enterprise wallet as well as papermill, something really noob friendly. I ve seen people discussing this on Factom slack. I m suprised one cannot find anything on youtube or anywhere else.

I have used papermill on Windows which is a command utility; and it's straight forward;

Steps:
  • Open Windows Explorer, go to the directory where the papermill.exe resides
  • Then click Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command Prompt
  • Now click/hold and drag papermill.exe onto the black Command Promt window
  • Press enter to generate FCT address and key
  • To regenerate new address; simply press UP arrow key and press enter

Hope this helps.

https://docs.factom.com/#enterprise-wallet

you can skip the factomd installation and go to this section: https://docs.factom.com/#run-enterprise-wallet-online

use the custom factomd location setting and point to:  factomd-live.cloudapp.net:8088 (per documentation)

all done!

Brilliant, thank-you. Anyone new and wanting a wallet then this is the easiest one to use. For a safer offline "paper wallet" wallet use Papermill.

https://www.factom.com/devs/docs/howto/use-factoidpapermill

Using Online Enterprise wallet and want to import private key from Papermill? - Add new address, Generate New Address From - Import Private Key

No urgent need for Exodus wallet now

You can use your enterprise wallet on a cold storage machine as well. Somebody mentioned they do not like using papermill since there s no actual balance display. Well, this is the solution for that problem.

Good idea. One thing worth doing is 'exporting to file' the enterprise wallet seed, writing it down and then deleting it just so you don't have a text file for someone to easily look at. Also, addresses imported won't be able to be recovered with the seed on another install so keep the private key saved somewhere or send all funds to an address created within the wallet with seed.

What they've said is that they want to see the network stable for some time. That is understandable since the network was not stable for some time. But true is also: It seems to be stable now.

I really do not understand what s the problem. Factom enterprise wallet works perfect, without any problems. If Exodus feels they d like to wait some time and more sure network s stable, which has been stable for weeks now, I dont have a problem using Factom wallet until Exodus introduces Factom.

Dont create FUD where there s no cause/need for FUD.

got a hit on page change: https://github.com/FactomProject/distribution

Release notes for v0.4.2.1

-This is a feature preview of the fast bootup mode.
-Upgrade is only needed to try the new mode.
-With this version, when booting after downloading the blockchain, factomd will save most of the work it does when starting. When starting again, it will fully startup much faster.
-To try, start with this command factomd -fast=true
-This release does not include any bugfixes beyond what 0.4.2.0 fixed.

Hello to you guys

Well a few months later, after having being accused of being a troll what do we have on factom ?? USD price has rallied 2.5x but nothing spectacular given the global picture, the spikes in terms of btc price have not exceeded those seen in September 2016 last year... The market cap hasn't even broken 100,000,000 USD...

In the meanwhile,I had at the time posted about NEM when it's market cap was around 30,000,000 USD and bow it's number 5 crypto with 1.1 billion market cap for a spectacular more than x30 rise

So guys next time you read guys posting everyday and making a lot of noise it doesn't mean they are clever. You should have listened to me guys instead of mocking me...

This is not a post to tell you to buy some NEM. Actually I'm taking my profits here.
Factom project is going nowhere it seems, the tech team seem to be not good enough and they are getting obsolete. The only good thing is they have some funding to survive a while longer but not sure they can make for the lost time with their team.

At this stage I think they should redesign the whole project and something good could get out of it. The risk is that they give up any time and take what's left of the money, that's another possible outcome.

I promise you some of the 9 or 10 digit market caps will be worth near zero in less than two years. The risk is factom share the same fate even if it's not even (yet) in the nine digit club...

Dude, please stop embarrassing yourself. You have been away for a few months, pls keep that status send me your NEM address so I can tip you for being a good boy.

The Factom market reminds me of Dash last year: always first to dump and last to pump, mediocre price performance. But look where is Dash now. Maybe Factom just needs some more months to consolidate and whales to accumulate.
